Odd (good?) pawnshop find

MHRX

CAGiversary!
I dropped by my pawn shop today, and they didn't have much in the games department. I was with a friend, and he was looking through some of the loose music cds in the "50 cents" cd holder. I was browsing through one, and I noticed a mint disc-only copy of Star Ocean 2 for the PSX (disc 1). I immediatley started looking for disc 2, but to no avail. I asked the guy how much he wanted, he said that wasn't supposed to be in there, but he'd let me have it for 1.00. I told him it was half of the original game, so .50 is pretty fitting. He let me have it for that, so i now own 1/2 of Star Ocean 2 for the PSX.

To anyone that has played this game, is it worth me getting into only to not be able to finish it? Or will i want to go out and get the full game? About how much game is there on disc 2 that i would be missing out on? Unless somehow it was a "special features" disc (haha, yea right). Anyways, just thought i'd share my interesting find.

Well, considering they managed to do a whole anime just based on the first disc (Star Ocean EX), I'd think it's definitely worthwhile playing through the first disc. Then, save your save file in case you can ever find another copy.

I'd definately recommend playing through the first disc before deciding if you like it enough to buy the full game. Personally, I bought it full price during a draught in PSX RPGs, and I completely regretted it.

The game flow didn't do it for me. I found it to be an extremely tedious leveling game where your success in battle is completely dependent on your level, and not at all dependent on your strategy (especially since the AI for for your characters is borderline retarded). The story also starts off extremely slowly, and I was completely bored with it for half of the game.

It seems to have a lot of fans, but I've never thought of it as more than a mediocre RPG.
