Off the Topic but... Got a Question for a Movie buff!!!

NesHavok

CAGiversary!
Ok so there's this movies that I saw a few years ago, and I have no idea what it's called. I hope someone can help me out with this. So here's the rundown!!! The movie is about a group of people trying survive in a world where These mechanical sawblades and exploding robotic kids are trying to kill them??? Ok so all I remember is that things that looked like sawblades would come up from the ground and saw off peoples legs and kill them when they hit the ground, and in this one scene what appeared to be a lost child lead someone astray to follow him/her to wherever and then exploded or something i think?? I hope someone knows the name of this movie. I've been looking for it forever and can't remember the name of it...Horror action flick I guess.. ? ? ?
Were the sawblades just little chrome spheres? Phantasm maybe?
Nope that isnt it thanks for guessing though, keep trying...
i've seen this movie too, isn't rutger hauer in it?
I can't even remember who plays in it or what they look like...???

I remember this. They called the things "automated swords" or something. They were supposed to be a weapon for the Gov't but they got out of control.
The atmosphere is a good one, the result of constant bombings, the planet is covered in hubris and ruins.
I think they meant to put debris.
I'm pretty sure this is "Screamers" with Peter Weller of "Robocop" fame.

The silence of space is about to be shattered...

Edit: Bah! Curse you, Duo_Maxwell, and your quick posting! j/k ;)
Haha yeah uncanny timing... I had shou;d've given all the info first time around like you guys, I didn't wanna dig for the link though.

Edit: and I had to figure out the new thing for posting links my computer never made me do that before. and in a strange twist of irony we all gave the same link too.

Ok this is going to be a harder one to figure out because there are alot of movies that sound like this.. There are all these children, and they live in this woodsy area, the movie seems to take place in older times where magic exsisted in there world anyways.. ?? but here's the thing all the children were turned to stone and this one kid turned them back again and defeted the evil guy (main villain) in the movie near the end of the movie. This isn't much to go bye but thats all i got, oh the movie is an older title maybe 80's or 90's???

Man, that is a hard one... The only thing that's coming to mind is Return to Oz , but I don't think that's it...
Sounds like every magic movie out there...Do you know any stars from it (if there were any in it)?
i only watched the last 5 minutes of this movie when i was like 9 or 10 and ever since have been wondering what it was so nope dont know anything else about it, ill probably never figure it out!?!?
The 1st thing i thought of was Legend...But I don't recall everyone turning to stone or anything like that.
it's not legend, or dark crystal or labrynth or anything like that, ive never heard of it or seen it anywhere since the 1st time i saw it, and i work at a video store! lol

Yeah see the problem is movies like that were nearly a dime a dozen in the 80s and early 90s. That said I'm officially stumped, though it'll bother and nag at me now that I can't think of it (I hate it when that happens).

I have to agree with BlueWingX sounds like a part of Return to Oz. But the rest of the stuff you are describing doesn't match up.

I may be completely off-base since I haven't seen them in a long time, but you may be thinking of one of the Neverending Story movies.
