Offical "Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds" Thread

I can't wait until 2009 when I buy a PS3 and this game. It is killing me knowing that it is out there and I can't play it!!! Thank God I have been able to play Minna No Golf Portable 2 since December!!!
Just for the sake of argument, (and I have 5 minutes to kill) I looked up a few PS3 exclusives...

it looks like they changed all their old scores into the A-F scale.
Uncharted, and Ratchet and Clank:ToD both received "A"'s, Resistance an "A-".

Both Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted before the scale change received an 85% on gamerankings; wouldn't that be a "B"?!?! WTF?

Resistance also received an 85%, and now has an "A-"; what's your scale, 1up?
5=C for their scale, which makes sense.

My wife picked this up yesterday at BB. Haven't had the chance to play it yet, but I imagine her and I will find time to play some rounds this weekend.

Frys has it for $50 as well.

Anyone know if you can use your Asia version save with the US? I almost finished the Asia version and picked up the US because I couldnt read the menus and wanted to go online and stuff without referring to a cheat sheat.

I'm certainly anxious about picking up this one. Had it not been for SSBB, I'd have gone out and bought it already. See you guys on the links sometime soon!

I had a really messy day today (losing my ATM card and all), but I still eventually made it to CC and picked up a copy. It had a small tear in it, but oh well, everything is in it.

I've played it a while and there is a bit of slowdown when challenging a new golfer. Right before hitting a new golfer will do a little dance or say something and there is a blip of 1-2 seconds where it is loading. Kind of annoying as it does it almost every time or every other time the challenger goes to hit, but overall not that bad as you just have to play 9 or 18 holes with them to unlock them.

Online is sooooo smooth and the online rooms are all pretty fun (as is customizing the characters.

Anyone that wants to play sometime add me as a friend.

I'll probably be able to play you when I get the game next monday, stranger.

Online, can one person use the classic 3 click while the other uses the new swing?

I look forward to it.

Yeah, each player can use whichever setup they desire. I played two tourneys, one had 18 players, the other had 25 and there were a good number of players using each of the setups.

I opened my copy and I'm going to start playing tomorrow. I'll set things up as soon as I give the online a test run (I need to see how online will work in this game so I know the best way to handle HSG games (kind of like how Warhawk and CoD4 are very different and I have to put them together differently)).

As far as the gameplay is concerned, online play does not affect gameplay like other games are... there is no lag/latency issues as everyone plays on their own and there is no real interaction between the players that would cause any timing issues.

But the online aspect is really easy to get into and simple... I forsee fun times in the months ahead...

Picked up my copy today with the EB trade-3 deal. Really busy with school this week though so I probably won't get around to it till next weekend :(
oh well at least the game uses keyboards... that's good. I have to get myself a wireless bluetooth keyboard
the keyboard character limit is real short -_-

Just picked this up at BB via a Fry's pricematch. The game is lots of fun, I'm looking forward to teeing off online, feel free to add me as a friend for online play.

I love the online play, ended up playing tournaments all night last night. Definitely count me in if a big CAG tournament surfaces at some point.

picked up me copy today at Fry's. Thought they were sold out but found two copies on an endcap! Haven't opened it up yet. Been busy with Chrono Cross on psp lol

To let everyone know, I took a look at the online. What I'll probably have to do is choose a server and set a game on permission only. All you gotta do is requests to join, and as long as I know your name, you'll be invited.

I'll probably start on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (other nights are taken). What I'm thinking of doing is having a CAG leaderboard too, where I will post everyones scores and rank them.

Anyone here played Gamecube or Game Boy Advance Mario Golf?

I am wondering if you can compare and contrast them? Which do you like better?

I'm interested in picking this up.
Are most people using the new Advanced Shot system? Or are you using the original?

Myself, I'm using the Advanced Shot.
Advanced for me

I hosted some games last night, and it looks like you can only set options for your game that you have unlocked in single player. For example, I could only select the first course, since I have only done a few of the first couple challenges.

We will make a CAG Hot Shots Golf thread sometime next week probably, which will be used for our games. The big question is I'm trying to decide whether I should run Hot Shots Golf (although I run Warhawk and somewhat of CoD4), or if I should find someone else. If people want me to do it, I gladly will, but want opinions first.

I think it would just be cool, just to have some tournaments maybe a couple times a month for either fun or small prizes.

I got this yesterday. I love the new hitting system, it makes hitting accurately easier for me. If there's one area that isn't as intuitive, it's hitting a shot with less than max power. I tend to overpower chip shots since it's hard for me to estimate 50% power with the swing. Otherwise I love it. It doesn't really feel "next gen" or that different from previous games, still it's a lot of fun. I'll try some online tournaments today to see what that's like.

I'm working my way through the fourth tier of the challenge mode and I'm liking this game a lot. I'm liking all the wildlife they have on the courses, such as tanuki on the Japanese courses and ducks swimming in the water hazards on the Euro course. I'd like to find out what the other creatures are that appear on the courses, too, if I can. I like the loyalty bonuses that you get for sticking with a character, like more power shots and new outfits. I like the card-picking aspect after winning challenges, though I've mostly gotten new clubs and a few of the caddies, but want more golfballs. I'm liking the advanced shot a lot, as I've gotten about eight chip-in birdies and a chip-in eagle, too.

How do you manually record shots, as I couldn't figure that out on a nice long putt I sank that I wanted to record? It'd be nice if they had a youtube-like feature to upload for others to see.

Edit: Nevermind. I see how to do it now.

anybody happen to know if the music is any different in japanese/american/european versions? Kinda wish the music (like the intro) was a little more energetic like from the japanese demo lol

Is there a demo of this game anywhere? I know there used to be a japanese one but I'm wondering if there is any other.

another useless little thing i noticed besides the intro music is that they gave Jasmine some spandex shorts to wear underneath her skirt (only making comparisons from the japanese demo)

and yes I am the kind of person to notice that sort of thing lol

Sure, there are several. They're called "Hot Shots Golf 1-4".

j/k

I think it's weird that the game has no support for the DualShock 3. Every other recent game I have has feedback and if it's in the bowling gaame, it really should be at least an option here.

Now that I am back from Spring Break and back on my HDTV, the difference it makes in this game is drastic. For one, I can actually read text now, and I can also see the little putt indicator of how far the ball will go. On my 20 inch SDTV it was forced letterboxed and all the text was so tiny.
On the UK store.
Thanks.

No kidding. This will be my first time playing a Hot Shots Golf game. I always skipped on the PS2 versions since golf isn't my thing but I want to try this one out to see what I've been missing.

Didn't know whether to post in this or the signup thread, but are we gonna get some games going?

Nothing official but at least something small to get the 'swing' of things.
