Offical "Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds" Thread

Just got all my intermediate players and working on getting the Silver Peaks course. Things have toughened up a little difficulty-wise though.

I played through the first group of stuff today, looking forward to getting to the harder stuff. Are you guys using the traditional swing or the new one?

I'm trying to use the new one, but I'm not much of a putter yet with it.

Give me some time to unlock stuff and I'll try to join people online or set up a mini-tournament or something.

New patch with features has been released:

Being just one day shy from a much needed weekend — isn’t every weekend a needed weekend? – I’m sure many of you have already penned in various activities in your filofax/pda/napkin/bathroom mirror/etc; and while I’m not here to judge how the quality (or legality) of your weekend plans, I am here to let you know that if there are some time gaps between your fun-doing, you can fill it up with some serious Hot Shots Golf online action.

So what’s with all the noise? Simply put, it’s the much awaited (and promised) Stroke and Match Online Play download patch that is making its way around the wired – for FREE! No coupons necessary, no forms to fill, no seminar to attend… it’s gratis (free). To take advantage of this very-berry unlimited offer, follow the steps below.

* Insert Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds disc into PS3
* Go to the online features
* Watch the goodness stream into your PS3 from our servers.

* Note: please make sure to have a valid PSN account and to be logged on prior to download.

So what’s in the new menu item you ask? First of all, this new Online feature will let you roam about the course as you see fit, taunt other golfers while you wait your turn, and be magically transported back to your spot once it’s your turn - - and of course, this new feature will also take advantage of all the HSG rules you’ve come to love and expect.

Also, we’ve been really happy to see the crazy avatar combinations you’ve come up with, so to mix it up a bit, we’ll be adding some more items as we move along… but in the meantime, we’ve thrown in a soccer balls in a couple of the lobbies to get you guys going on some impromptu footie action.

Meanwhile, back at the hamster ranch…
Some of you might have experienced some server issues in the past few weeks – and we’ve noticed them too! So to mend this we’ve fed the server hamsters and greased the wheels; things should be running a lot smoother now.

That is all for now today, but keep an eye out for more Hot Shots Golf news on DLC content - - till then, see you here, or there or maybe even over there.

soooooo am I missing something here...

I downloaded the two new characters and installed them, but I don't see them anywhere in the character roster or profile list. Can't access them in single player. They're not multiplayer only are they? I haven't tried that out yet...

edit: ahh nevermind figured it out. Had to go online and download a patch. lol

Is anyone getting the Oceania course? I'm a bit confused by the DLC. It's a 100kb file... if that means I'm paying to unlock content on a disc I own, then I have issues with that.

You actually have to download an update from Hot Shots Golf, online first. Once you do, the course is now downloaded. What you download from the PS Store activates it. Basically, it's not on the disc, it's within the patch. It's like how MotorStorm had the Time Attack, you had to download an online update to allow for it to fit, they you download the small file to make it work.

It was confirmed by someone in charge of the content. If you do not download the update online, you don't get a course.

Gotchya.. Thanks for diffusing that so quickly. I still wonder why they didn't have a preview video for it as well.

I bought the course today. I will admit the music is annoying, but the course is pretty fun. I think $4 would have been better, but oh well. It's kind of weird I should say. I still need to unlock courses 5 and 6, but ran into problems.

so I finally noticed that the Oceana course became available on the US store earlier in this month. It was released in late april on the japanese store. Is this the kind of release date delay that we are going to be expecting for future Hot Shots addons? And by that I mean the two costume set addons that are on the japanese psn for 600yen each. Costume set 1 released on 5/28, Costume set 2 released more recently on 6/25...

set 1 has costumes for: Jasmine, Sophie, Bloom, Anya, Maruyama
set 2: Nick, Bjorn, Sasha, Fernando, LJ

I found the japanese -> english name changes amusing:
Nakajima -> Fernando
Conan -> Nick
Chris -> Bjorn
Yuming -> Sasha
Sapphire -> Anya
Johnson -> LJ

Jasmine stayed Jasmine
Sophie stayed Sophie
Bloom stayed Bloom
Maruyama stayed Maruyama

Dunno if they were going for exotic, plain, or if they were just pulling random names out of a hat lol

I just picked this up today used at Gamestop. When I try to go online, the screen blacks out completely and the game seems to just sit there. The in game XMB is available, but HSG isn't responding.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? How long does it take to go online? I want to get the latest patch...

just bought this game earlier today and i have mainly played multiplayer so far
but later today i will be on single player and then maybe online once i get better at it

There really isn't anything you need to know, other than the basic "rules" of golf.

so controls generally make sense?

Go play NES Open on NES (BEST. GOLF GAME. EVER.) and you get an idea of the controls.

Unless you use the far superior advanced swing style.

OK folks...have a question. Let's say you are on the green but have a looooooooooooong putt...like 45 or 50 ft. I know I'm not going to sink that, so I'd just as soon use a wedge to get closer. But I can't figure out how to switch to one! The shot type select button does nothing - won't let me switch from putt to approach. Am I missing something? How can I ditch the putter?

Don't think you can. And in real life, they might frown on you if you broke out a sand wedge on the putting green as well.

You can grab it used for $35.XX with the new 25% off coupon + edge card mentioned on the main page of CAG. Pondering if I want to bite... bet I will be upset that I don't again lol.
Is Kratos available to play as soon as you buy him? I'm not seeing him in my game.....
You need to make sure your game is patched to the current version with Kratos in it by starting an online game.

thanks, I'll try that

Is anyone still playing this game? I'm thinking about playing it every once in a while or trading it in. IDK. I hoping they come out with a new one soon.
Did they ever patch this for 1080i support?
I don't think so. Did they say they were going to?

No but thought it was really really easy to do so I've been holding out hope. Oh well - looks like I might get a new TV before this issue is resolved. Stupid Sony.
