Offical word on how GameStop Pre-orders will be handled

I'm TICKED - GS told my g/f (first in line) that she won't be getting the 60 gb she reserved and they can only give her the 20 gb. He proceeded to tell her (when she called in) that she was NOT the first person in line (implying employees took the only 2 60 gb versions) and she was out of luck.

How much crap is that - I'm thinking about going in with her and and cussing them out at the top of my lungs about how their employees are robbing the customers and going against corporate policy.

What do you think?

And don't worry - there will be an obligatory kicking over of a magazine rack or two...

Just get your money back. Your voice will be heard when you buy a PS3 elsewhere, and it puts GS/EB one sale closer to going out of business.

No offense, but you are an idiot...the point is that it will be impossible to just "buy a PS3 elsewhere" around here - there are already people camping...

My girlfriend was first in line and the employees are robbing her blind of my x-mas gift lol :)
 
I called the eb where i reserved and the guy told me they were gonna do a first come first serve basis. Thats so freaking gay now i may have to line up a 2nd time? Or did he just not get the memo from corporate to do it by the order of preorders?

I read somewhere that Gamestop/EBs internal policy was that employees MUST wait until at least the second shipment, and if they get from the first shipment they will be terminated immediately. If I were you I would first speak to the manager over the phone, then go in and talk to him in person, and if he still says the 2 employees can have the first two slots when they obviously didnt wait in line, ask to speak to the district manager and get his phone number. At this point the manager will probably cave in and give you the first slot like you deserve. If not, talking to the district manager about the issue will most likely get it resolved and the ass employees will have to apoligize to you or something.

You are still the idiot - she waltzed in at 11 a.m. after class and they hadn't had any preorders yet...this was in hickville USA where nobody knew that the >1 year old GameStop had PS3 preorders...
 
if my numbers are right,

this went from 2 million world wide, to 320 thousand usa and japan. thats really crappy. Its not eb fault compleatly. I bet sony said they would get x amount, then sony failed to launch so to speak, and we get the number we have now.
 
i would love to see that madness. The ones in japan are gone and i dont think people would like thier pre order up online, even though it was going thier evenutaly. Maybe the ps4 will go up on ebay though.

GS called today and offered me the $20/DVD deal if I waited for the next shipment so somone else could have theirs... I would be first in line on the next wave but it is not going to happen, sorry whoever was after me!
 
My Eb loyalty is begining to be broken after first the xbox 360 launch screwing over my girlfriend and a good friend of mine, and now for the second time in as many years the same eb is screwing my gf out of her launch system. She has preorder spot number 4 at my local eb and I am number 5, I got a call stating that I will be recieving a launch system and she got a call that she would be first on the second shipment. Now unless I am mistaken for one 5 is after 4 so I shouldn't get mine, and for a second thing I was told they are recieving 9 slashed from the previous quote of 16 on tuesday. I called corporate and they seemed to not care in the slightest telling me to talk to the store manager(who made this decision I assume). I spend like $2500 or so a year at this eb and I think it may be time to head else where even if it's to another eb. I'm sick of this store manipulating the system so that people who are regulars get special treatment.

Did you guys order the same version? Maybe they got more then the other... though I doubt that is what happened. If the store manager doesn't clear it up for you, ask him to give you the number to the regional manager (or maybe it is the District Mananger (DM) ) and see if you can get it smoothed out that way.
 
We did order the more expensive model they are supposedly getting 9 and 3(I wouldn't even consider the lower price sku an option tho). I talked to a store employee who I play xbox live and WoW with and he said the manager decided since we come into the store together we live together and as such split it up 1 on first shipment 1 on second shipment. Even tho we have seperate preorders at our own addresses not to the same address. My girlfriend isn't all that interested in any of the launch titles but it's the principle that she was ahead of me and isn't getting one. All this and we will likely have to camp out for 12+ hours for our wiis since we missed the pre order on those.
 
I just received the dreaded call from Gamestop. I thought since it was Thursday evening, I was golden for a 60GB unit tomorrow morning. I had even called the same guy, "Tim" the night before and he told me all 16 units were in and I was good. After he gave me the script, I said "Oh, yeah-Tim. I talked to you just last night and you told me all 16 units were in." He stammered and mumbled something about making a mistake. Dammit! I knew it was too good to be true! Talk about stringing me along! 8PM , the night before! Can you believe it? OK, I feel better now(not much), thanks for letting me vent. The bright side is that I will get the unit"sometime before the holidays." Yay.
 
I went in today to pay mine off, and only saw THREE up high on the shelves. There was a good line behind me when we pre-ordered, I'd say at least 20 people total. So... If only 3 came in, ouch.

Now I just have to hope they haven't been robbed (another store near by was!) and that I don't get jumped tomorrow morning when I pick it up. Gah.
