Also, a few hours later I stopped by another yard sale and found another Jaguar boxed w/a game for $15, so I passed. He also had some NES games. I got Dragon Warrior and Time Lord from him for $3 total. The other games he had were TMNT, Mighty Bomb Jack (good game, but my gf already has it), King of the Beach volleyball, and double dribble and maybe one other game.
Great Finds man! Next time grab the 2nd Jaguar and sell it to me! I've been looking for one of those suckers for a while!

Well it's only Wednesday, but I've already been bitten by the yardsale bug. I was hoping that for some reason someone would be having one on my route to work this morning. Geez, I hope I'm not getting addicted or anything. :whistle2:k

I know how you feel. It's been extra hard for me this week because I'm trying not to go anywhere, since I decided to quit smoking this week and all my friends smoke. I've been going crazy sitting around the house.
That would be the one that I got. Wow. Never heard of gamersgraveyard before. I will have to dig around and check that site out.

Nice sleuthing cyrix!
I'd like to thanks a little friend with the name Google who all I had to say to him was NES Flight Stick!

I got a neighborhood newsletter that our neighborhood (big area, about 800 homes?) is having a fall garage sale on the weekend of Oct 22. I can't wait!

Not every home will have a sale of course, but usually many of them do, as it's easier when the neighborhood association arranges for the city permits and puts up general signage.

Last week, I was able to find an SNES + Hookups + Two controllers + Super Mario World for $3.00.

But before I did find the SNES, I visited another yard sale right before. The guy running this sale was a real asshole. He was asking $30.00 for a NES and $5.00 for a cart-only Super Mario Bros. So after I told him his asking price was a little ridiculous he told me to "Get off his property, then."

Went to a rummage sale this morning--

Didn't get it as cheap as i'd hoped, but I'm satisfied:

--JVC X'eye (no hook ups, but it just uses Genesis hook ups, which i have.) -- works perfectly

--NES with 2 controllers, hook ups, 13 games-- Baseballs, Super Mario Bros., Maga Man 2, Double Dragon 2, Sky Kid, RBI Baseball (Tengen), Rygar, Hoops, Rush n' Attack.....can't think of the others.

--Mega Man Soccer (Snes)

Price: $30

Get this -- they had a box marked "SNES - 31 games - $15" -- I nearly shat myself -- I opened up the box and the SNES was cracked and ALL the games, every last one of them, were sports games!!! AHHHHH!!! Mega Man soccer was the only good one, so I grabbed it.

Looks like a major washout for me today. It's too bad cause this was most likely the last good weekend of the season in my area. Good luck to anyone whose weather conditions are better then mine.

We have some rain up here this morning as well, and it's supposed to be very heavy this afternoon. Surprisingly, we had several "rain or shine" sales in our area, so we're just going to stay local.

Good luck all!

you got a great deal. be happy and play those games!

A washout for us today, it was raining all morning. We still decided to go out and hit all of the advertised sales that said "Rain or shine", and we ended up going to 10 total. Nothing found, although the first sale we went to said "I have a box of old games, but I wasn't able to bring everything out from the garage because of the rain. I'll find them today and put them out for tommorow if you want to come by again." So we're going to check that out again tomorrow, fingers crossed for a big lot.

Kind of sad/disappointing/depressing that one of the last weeks of the season was rained out. Maybe it'll make for a busy next weekend, when it otherwise might not have been.

You guys convinced me to go out this morning. We didn't find anything, so I'm going back to Plan A, which is lay in bed until my back hurts so bad I have to get up.

I didn't get to check out as many sales as I wanted today, since I have to be at work in a few. Most of the morning was pretty horrible... didn't see one gaming related object til I check out some "Optimists Club Rummage Sale." There they had Madden 2003 and Madden 2004 on PS1 for the low low price of $5.00 each.

Down the ways a little I checked out an advertised sale which was extremely hard to find as it was in an area of my town that I rarely go to and all the street signs were faded. When I got there I looked around and spotted a small bag with a Cartridge poking out, I noticed the Texas Instruments logo on it and knew immediately that they were TI-99 games. So I checked out the bag and saw the Paddles, but the console was nowhere to be found. I inquired to the lady running the sale if she happened to know where the actualy console was. She replied "I thought there was something missing when I put that out this morning, it must be in my son's closet somewhere but I don't have time right now to dig for it." So I asked how much she wanted for just the Carts and Joysticks, and got a 2 dollar response. I tried to CIF 1 Dollar but she was firm on two, and I had that "I wasn't going to gome home empty handed" attitude, so I gave her the 2 dollars. She told me as soon as she had time, she would look for the actual Console, so I left her my name and number. Hopefully I'll get a call in the near future!

The last few sales I visited were a bust, and now I gotta get ready for work.
So we're going to check that out again tomorrow, fingers crossed for a big lot.
Good luck on that one! It seems like you haven't had an empty handed weekend in a long time, so let's hope you keep it that way.

thought it would be a washout, so i worked, damnit, was so damn sunny it hurt. oh well did go to one at lunch got 8 ps2 games for 20, so i am happy

It's snowing next weekend here. So its officially the last sales of the year. Went to a new area and found about 5 sales. Bad start, but I found one selling a N64, NES, Genesis, and a Playstation 1 ( The big bulky one) All worked and all hook ups. But I passed. Here is why
NES = $40
N64 = $30
Genesis = $40
PS = $50 yes 50 for a used bulky PS

I gave the guy running the place a WTF look and he said he knew the systems value because he worked at a Pawn shop, but since they belonged to his teenage children they set the prices.

I may try some local flea markets and pawn shops. All the thrift stores in my area ( Salvation army etc. ) stopped carrying DVDs and games so I am SOL there.

Ugh.

Went back at 9am this morning to find a NES Powerpad and 2 sealed Saturn games (Madden 97 and NHL 97). Asked them if they found the box of videogamesyet, and once again we got the "We still haven't gotten to everything yet, but we have 2 big boxes. We might have them out later today or tommorow."

Meanwhile, the guy is still bringing stuff out while his wife is tending the sale. So we decide to wait around for a bit, to see if he brings them out (since we're back...again). So we wait like 10 minutes, while he keeps bringing stuff out. Then...he starts to look around the sale. Looks down at his shoes, kicks the pavement, puts his hands in his pocket. Just standing around. It appears as if he's done bringing stuff out.

So I go up to him. "Uh, find those boxes yet?" So he says again, that they're probably still packed away. So in my head, I'm screaming "SO GO GET THEM AND STOP FARTING AROUND!" I give the wife my number and ask her to call me when they get to the games.

Right after she takes it, her 23 year old son (whose games these are I'm guessing) comes outside. It turns out, he went to grade school with moiety, so they start talking. We ask what he has for videogames, and he says:

-These two Saturn games (but that's it, he ebayed the rest and his system).
-This Powerpad
-5 NES games (MLB, TMNT, and 3 others that he can't remember)

And that's it. So it went from a "box of games", to "2 big boxes of games", to "5 NES games." So in a dejected state, I ask how much they want for the powerpad and 2 games. The dad says a buck apiece for the saturn games, and $5 for the pad.

I didn't even feel like haggling. We just left and said we were going back, but of course we aren't.

There's a small small possibility that they still might have stuff, as the 23 year old had an older brother. So maybe, when he was telling us about "his games", he had that sibling thing in mind where like, him and his brother had seperate ownership of the games. So maybe they still do have a bunch of games, but they're the older brother's, and the 23 year old already sold all his.

Of course, that's me talking completely out of my ass. I'd be shocked if she did actually call me, and if they had anything more than those 5 NES games.

9am for nothing.

Ah well, nice to read the other reports though. I hope some of you are still finding stuff when the snow starts to fall up here in a few months. We'll be vicariously yard saling through the southern CAGs.

I picked this up at Goodwill yesterday:

IMG_1404.JPG

Pac Man TV tray, only 49 cents :D
It puts a big smile on my face every time I look at it. According to Ebay, these trays were made circa 1980.

My friend also picked up an SNES controller for 99 cents. He said its rather difficult to find real SNES controllers on ebay because so many are 3rd party or just bootleged. (Even the ones in box with Super Mario RPG characters are bootleg, he says.)
Sure its been posted, but how can I look up yard sales in the area via the Interweb.
Bunch of tips here, but your best bet is to think of as many local newspapers as you can (including and especially the free papers), and then checking to see if they have websites online (they usually do). Once you get a nice collection of sites, check them for the classifieds section, and you should get a few nice lists from different papers.

You can also look on craigslist, but it's far less organized and less reliable.

Hope to see you out in the future!

i am ready, there is a comunity yard sale right next to me, hot damn, and i have seen the glourious colorful signs already. imo they should color code. or take up damn realestate signs on saturday
