----------------------------------------------------------------------

FAQ

Since when did Amazon start doing trades?
The program began earlier this year and is handled by a third party merchant, NorAm International.

What kind of shipping does Amazon provide us?
USPS Media Mail

Do I have to provide my own box or envelope?
Yes.

Do all my games in the same trade-in submission have to be shipped in the same box?
Yes.

Can I send in sealed games?
Yes. They won't reject games that still have the original shrink wrap.

Can I add Delivery Confirmation and Insurance to my shipment?
Yes. If you’re worried about your package, definitely take advantage of these shipping options. You’ll just have to pay a little extra to ship your games. NOTE: There have been cases where the post office doesn’t allow adding these options on prepaid shipping labels, but try anyway or go to a different post office.

I don't trust Media Mail. Can I pay for postage myself? What's the address?
Yes. You're more than welcome to do so. The address is:
NorAm International
43 Broad st. C403
Hudson, MA 01749

When do I have to send my games once I have submitted my trade order?
You have 1 week to send your games.

Crap, I have one day to go before my shipment deadline, but the website states that my deadline has already passed. How do I print out a shipping label and packing slip?
Load up any existing order (if you don't have any, check your browser's history), and substitute the transaction ID for the trade-in order you need at the end of the URL.

How long does the whole trade-in process usually take?
From the time you send in your games, it may take up to 14 business days for the package to arrive. Most people usually receive their credit in 3 to 5 business days, however.

My games were received on Friday (based on Delivery Confirmation), will I have to wait until Monday to receive credit?
People have received credit on a Saturday.

Can I do two different trade-in submissions that add up to the requirements of the trade-in deal?
No. In order to qualify for any of the trade-in promos, they have to all be in one trade-in submission. You can't add another game later on to make the minimum.

I submitted my trade-in order online, how do I know if I qualified for the current trade-in deal? Is there a confirmation page or e-mail?
No. They will automatically send you a coupon code once they have accepted your shipment of games and credited your account.

Is the trade-in deal coupon in addition to the credit I will receive for my games?
Yes.

Can I trade in DVDs to take advantage of the current trade-in deal?
You may trade in DVDs to add credit to your Amazon account, but they will not be added to the amount you need to qualify for the deal.

When do I receive my coupon code for the current trade-in deal?
The Terms of Service states 10 days after Amazon has accepted your games and added credit to your account, but it usually takes 2 to 3 days.

Can I take advantage of the current trade-in promo more than once?
These deals are “One per household” unless stated otherwise. However, you may use a different Amazon account. The credit for your games will be tied to the specific account used for the trade, but the coupon codes for the deals are not.

If the coupon codes aren’t tied to my account, can I use more than one coupon on my next purchase?
No. Unless stated otherwise in the promo details, these coupons cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. IT DOES STACK WITH THE ECA DISCOUNT, HOWEVER.

I do not have the manual, cover art, or original case for a game I want to trade in. Will they accept it?
While the details specifically state that original packaging is necessary, people have reported in the past that their trades were accepted despite missing some of these. This is extremely YMMV, however. On the other hand, older gen games, such as SNES, N64, and GB cartridges, normally get accepted without the original box and manual, but still YMMV.

My game is really beat up, what are the chances they’ll accept it?
This is YMMV. Some people have reported in the past that they sent in games in bad shape that were still accepted. Your best bet is still to trade in games in mint condition. Minor scratches are expected as these are used games.

My game is the Greatest Hits version, but the one pictured on the site isn’t. Can I still trade it in?
Unless the game in question has two separate versions that trade at different values, sending in a greatest hits version is okay.

I have a game from a limited edition bundle, will they accept it?
If the game’s cover art has a UPC barcode, they will most likely accept it. If your game's cover states "Not for Resale" and does not have a UPC barcode, the game will most likely get rejected. Some people have had their games accepted in the past, but this is YMMV.

The UPC barcode is not intact on my game's cover art, will that be accepted?
This is YMMV. Just try it, but make sure to have more than enough for the minimum requirement to qualify for the deal.

So if they reject one of my games, am I disqualified from the current trade-in deal?
Unfortunately yes. The best suggestion for trading in games is to trade in $10-$20 more than the minimum for the deal. By doing so, you will still qualify for the promo even if one or two games get rejected.

I sent in my games, all of which were in pristine condition with the original packaging, but they said that one game is damaged and is now being returned.
Always pack your games well. Put a lot of newspaper around your games in the box to secure them and to prevent any damages from haphazard box cutting. People in the past have requested their entire trade-in order if it’s obvious the damage wasn’t their fault, and Amazon ended up accepting the rejected game. This is YMMV as well.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
Yes. Once you click “Trade in” for a particular game, you may change the quantities.

So if I find a good flip, I can just send 10 copies of that game and not worry about Amazon accusing me of stolen merchandise?
Technically yes, but do keep in mind that it might still raise red flags. No one has reported attempting this so we do not know for sure. 2 to 3 copies of a game should be okay, but more than that is pushing it. Also, keep in mind that other CAGs might want to participate in the current deal, and trading in a large number of the same game will definitely lower the TIV of said game. Let’s be nice to other people.

Wow, these TIVs suck!
While that may be true, you will most likely save more money because of the trade-in deal coupon code.

What the fuck? The TIV of a game I just bought for this deal tanked! What do I do?
The TIVs on Amazon fluctuate depending on the number of trades that are submitted, and we really can’t do anything about it. The best course of action for trading in games is to lock in your trade if you already have the games or are absolutely sure that you can obtain them. You can always edit or cancel the trade submission if you end up not finding the games.

So if I can edit a submitted trade, can I add other games that weren’t originally part of the submission?
No. Only quantities can be changed.

If I change the quantity of a certain game I have already submitted for a trade, will I keep the same TIV?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon on preorders?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon when shopping from other merchants on Amazon?
No. ONLY ITEMS SOLD BY AMAZON.COM QUALIFY FOR PURCHASE WITH THE TRADE-IN COUPON. Even Amazon's other sites (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.jp, etc.) do not participate in these trade-in deals.

Does the ECA discount stack with the trade-in deal coupon?
Yes.

Can I use my credit (not the trade-in deal coupon) on items that are not video game-related?
Yes. This is the other perk for trading in games at Amazon since you're not limited to just video games.

Can I use my credit on items sold by third-party merchants on Amazon?
According to the fine print of the Amazon gift card use, some merchants are excluded. Your best bet is to try it on the checkout page of your order.

Man, I can't believe this. One of my games got rejected, the only one that I really didn't care for, putting me under the required $50 for the 50% off promo. They claim it was the incorrect item, which I know is total bs since being as paranoid as I am, I check my games and discs no less than 10 times before shipping them out. Just fyi, it was Sonic Unleashed for the 360. Too bad I don't have any form of proof though.... sucks....
This is the 5th time I've dealt with the amazon trade-in program--I've gotten rid of probably over 130 games, and this is the first to be rejected.

I tried e-mailing them, through the "Contact Us," link, though I don't know what to put in the spot for "Order #," since the transaction ID does not work, so I just left it blank. It's been over 12 hours now, so I just wanted to ask you guys if this was the correct link to e-mail them at regarding trade-in situations. Thanks

You went to the right place. No need for an Order# but I would put your trade transaction ID in the body of your email. You should hear back within 24hrs.
i just realized one of my games doesnt have a manual. what are the odds they accept it?
I wouldn't bother.

Same ole same ole

Deal of the Day Game House of the Dead Over Kill for Wii 18 after ECA

TIV right now 16.5 LOCK IN NOW it'll be changed in minutes

DO NOT use the same account to buy and trade back. This will get the program killed quick. Make a second one if you really have to do this, it only takes a couple minutes.

I already suspect changes will be coming.

seriously they wont accept it without a manual? it has the original box. its animal crossing for gamecube. should i try to nab a manual from gamestop maybe?
God damnit, I sent my package out a week ago and still no updates! My post office wouldn't allow Delivery Confirmation and I didn't feel like going to another one. It left from Indiana so I'm starting to get worried since MA isn't that far away...
I mailed mine from Indiana on the 14th and they got them and approved them yesterday, the 22nd. Media mail, if that's what you used, tends to take a while.

I want to order RB beatles with my coupon, but just the game. But I dotn want to wast a coupon on something that small, so I might order the bundle and sell off the instruments.

Is it possible with the coupon to have it ship to someone else, like as a gift, then they can send me the game? Or is the code linked to the address you used the trade in with?

My timeline. Using amazon's shipping label(so, media mail?) from florida, shipped the 17th, received credit on the 21st, got my coupon an hour ago...so morning of the 23rd.

I've contacted them in regards to trades through those means and got a timely response. I left the order # blank too, but just copy/pasted it into the actual message. It never takes them more then 8-10 hours to get back to me.

Finally got my promo code, but it's for my second order. Took 2 days to get it. Still haven't received my first promo code from last week. I think it may be an email problem because Amazon never seems to get me any promo codes with my yahoo account. When I created a second account I got the code in 2 days. My second account is with gmail so maybe that makes the difference? Oh well at least I can order my SF4 TE stick. I'll just use my "first" code for MW2 Prestige when I get it after emailing them about it.

just got my coupon code shortly after midnight pacific standard time. My trades were approved on monday and I saw the coupon was in my mailbox from checking my email on my blackberry. I was stoked when I saw that this morning.

Only 2 days and I got my code. Just ordered SF IV TE Fightstick :) for about $7 out of pocket and free 2 day shipping with prime will make it be here on monday!!! Big thanks to Japakneez again for saving me a bunch of GS credit that was abused on B2G1F. I should be set on games unless a good deal comes up until Halo ODST and the rest of my wants in september come out :)

Well, as of 12:43 this morning, my package is in Springfield, MA. With any luck it will be delivered soon and I'll have my credit tonight or tomorrow, with my 50% off code soon after.
would amazon take hollywood video game cases???
They have in the past. If you do this make sure the cases are in good condition. No crack or tears on the plastic. Also remove all stickers if there are any. I have used clear cases I received from Blockbuster (POG sale)...they look brand new and were accepted.

The safest thing to do is to swap the HWV case with a case from one of your own games.

First you have to sell your soul to the devil for a $1. Then you take that $1 to Wendys and score 10% off of amazon.

Huh? Ten days passed which is what it said on the site... that's stupid.

I got the trade-in credit last Thursday, so I have a feeling I'm in the same boat as everyone seemed to get theirs well before a week.

It never works, though. Everyone ends up buying a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger.

Shipped my games on Monday right before 6 pm, and they were accepted this morning. I got my giftcards for all 3 orders. I know I submitted a trade-in on the 15th or 16th for one order. The other two were submitted on the 18th. I hope I get my coupons.

UPDATE!!!! I must be the Noram Ninja. I haven't been rejected yet and just got word back from my latest trades :)

:xbox:
Jet Set Radio Future - No cover art, no Manual ACCEPTED
Knights of the Old Republic - No cover art, no Manual ACCEPTED

I sent these games in great condition clear cases i got from blockbuster. They seem to be lenient on games from older generation systems (based on my experience and others in this thread).

YMMV with 360, wii, ps3, and ps2 being accepted without manual. I definitely would not send a game from these systems without cover art. They need the barcode.

I was kinda scared as i turned in Mario Party 8 w/o manual but with the pamphlet. But all games were accepted... Shipped from So Cal on the 17th... Now i wait for my code... :D

Just purchased an Epson Workforce 600 with my credit. I think it cost me $100 in gamestop credit to get this $150 printer. I still have two 50% coupon codes with $67 in credit left on my 2nd account (probably go towards a 120gb xbox HD). Also have another $100 in trades on the way :)

Now i gotta find a digital camera deal :whistle2:?

so just got my trade in accepted, now waiting for the coupon. i sent in the trade friday with the regular media mail so i'm happy it got there fast. i plan to use it on the limited edition tekken bundle (with fight stick) since i'm a big fan of the games. anyone heard anything bad about the stick?

also for anyone who cares, i traded in 3 n64 games with no case or manual and they were accepted.

Well, not only is it YMMV in general, it is YMMV within the same order. The submission I made on my wife's account under the old promo (50% off) finally got there today. They accepted a PS3 game without a manual (which is a relief as it has dropped considerably since then). However, they rejected a DS game without a manual ("Rejected - Missing Packaging"). That one has still held it's value so I'll probably wait a few days and then add it to another submission to see if I can lock in the value I would have gotten. Fortunately I sent more than enough stuff and still ended up over $50. It's funny, though, because I thought for sure it would be the other way around if anything (ie, rejecting the PS3 game, accepting the DS game).

They accepted my order today (I was worried since on case was cracked) now I have to wait for my 50% off code so I can preorder Batman. I shipped on the 17 from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

My order was also accepted today (shipped friday 17th from Ohio), now I just have to wait for my damn coupon. Not getting something nifty like you guys though, just knocking $30 off MW2.
