Halo 5 CE is up on Bestbuy.com now.  $200 after GCU.  Still high, but not terrible with the $10 cert and the 400 RZ points for the purchase.

So i went to my local BB and preordered the halo ce in store. It was only $5 which i was surprised but people who are looking at getting it, $5 down is a lot better than 200.

You have to give the cashier the sku#2237037

It says PUR Exclusive, but could also mean, its exclusive to the members only. Hopefully thats the case and not a GS exclusive.

I know for sure my pre order is for the CE. When i look at my pre order receipt it still shows i would own $260(tax) when picking it up. And no you don't need the reservation cards. The receipt for the pre order is the only thing you really need.

Yeah all i did today was i told the girl at the register i wanted to pre-order a game that i saw on BB.com. She told me to give her the SKU and she could do it. Was pretty simple and easy and when she told me that the total was like $260 i knew it was the right, I just preferred to put $5 down instead on putting a big hold on a card.

 
I finally got a response from SE for the damaged KH 2.5 HD CE box... and even though I used the correct order number, they respond to my email as "FINAL FANTASY Curtain Call Collectors Edition". Jesus, so fucking inept...

Maybe cause people like Halo. Plus, many CEs have been sold out well before launch. Also, we don't really know what the Arkham Knight Batmobile does, or how it transforms, yet that thing sold out quick.

The reason that went on sale so quick was because it was overly produced and was made by a different developer.

If I am not mistaken, the batmobile is modeled off this toy. So this is the transformation it does.

That's just a plastic toy. The one you get in the CE is super high quality and will most likely transform in greater detail. Also, its made by Triforce, the guys who made the heavy duty Lancer, Hammerburst, and Pistol from Gears of War.

They, for some reason, required the full $200 deposit for the Batman: Arkham Knight Collector's Edition. Which is dumb because I have GCU and it should've been $160+ tax. But, when I walked in today, gave them the SKU, she asked me how much I wanted to put down on the reserve and I said $5, and it reserved fine.

You can reserve on Bestbuy.com, Gamestop.com or Amazon.com for zero down (well, I suppose BB.com does a one time authorization that lasts a few days, but at least they don't do those recurring authos anymore). There is absolutely no reason not to reserve one. If you decide you don't like the contents, you likely have almost a year to cancel it.

If, on the other hand, it sells out, you may be out of luck. As Destiny Ghost showed, just because something is heavily produced from a company that traditionally overproduces doesn't mean that rule applies to every CE. I really don't think in the scheme of things that this CE is any dumber than any other CE that has been released in the last few years and I can understand if people don't have the financial capacity to buy something like this, but there is really no reason to criticize others who do.

Not on a regular credit card, at least not in the past few months. I have a ton of stuff preordered with them on several cards and they haven't done an authorization since the preorders were placed. They changed that policy a few months ago, at least with regard to regular credit cards. Not sure about debit cards.

doesnt matter, because i ordered 2 batmobile editions of arkham knight and have a revolving charge on my capital one credit card. Other stuff i pre-ordered doesnt have that charge, so im not sure what the criteria for the revolving charge is, but i have it currently on one of the 7 things i have pre-ordered on their site.

 
Guess my single statement starter some huge debate. To be clear I wasn't criticizing anyone over reserving this, just find it odd that we have no pictures of anything and people jumped on something that expensive. I'll be going for the steelbook as I learned my lesson from titanfall and destiny with these big expensive editions, not really worth it.
 
I personally preordered it because to me all the previous halo collectors editions (3,reach) were great and completely worth it. Sure in the case of 3, and even reach for a little while, they were available cheaper later on but no matter what the pattern is, that is not a guarantee I could have found one. I put down $10 and if I find somehow the contents aren't worth it then I can cancel. Not debating and took no offense from your comment ghost. Just putting in my two cents.
 
we'll have to resellers get smashed a few more times before CE demand dries up to more normal levels.  This year did not seem particularly good for western game CEs, with the big hyped games of Titanfall and Destiny having their CEs drop in value non sto after release - I picked up both for 50-75% off a few months after release, straight from amazon.   Dunno how AC5, Far Cry 4, or Lords of the Fallen CE's did.  I remember the BioShock Infinite CEs were available from their store over a long weekend for like... 50% off?  Dragon Age Inq seems pretty good demand though, although the quality was beyond awful.

I think the japanese RPG CE's did pretty well though, dunno about stuff like Persona Q or KH 2.5?

If the trend continues and western AAA CEs don't have a big reseller market I think we'll probably see them scale back the number of releases and maybe they will really be low number high value.  It doesn't seem like it though for now, with them taking preorders for Batman and Halo 5 it gives them an inflated number (resellers) to manufacture, and in typical greed they will double or triple that while the real number is probably 20% of pre-order demand.  I mean hell, most of the people on this thread have probably pre-ordered from both amazon and best buy and will likely cancel one.

Might be your credit card company then or maybe it was the size of the charge for two. I preordered a Batmobile edition using a regular Visa and there hasn't been a charge since the initial authorization. I also had a conversation with the "back office" a while back and they told me they were no longer doing revolving authorizations for regular credit cards.

doesn't make sense because i have 6 other pre-orders with the same card but those arent revolving

Charges only happen twice, maybe three times. The initial charge, and the actual about to ship charge. They may be an additional charge shortly after the first time, then nothing afterwords.

this charge has drops on and off every few days since i preordered it months ago. idc either way, since i easily have the money, but i just find it strange some do and some dont

That's weird. I contacted them when I first preordered it and they said I'll only be charged twice. And since then I've been charged twice and that's all.

Yes, that's the way it's supposed to work now (one authorization when ordering and another one just before it ships). They used to do recurring authorizations every few weeks on every preorder. They changed the way their payment processing was handled around the time they revamped their website. Not sure why some people are still dealing with the recurring authorization but maybe it's just a glitch in the system.

Hopefully those people get that fixed. $160-$200 continually missing from your account sucks.
