Am I missing something?  Isn't the pip boy replica just a plastic bracelet with a slot for smart phones?  No other functionality?

 
Pip boy awesome but would be better if it had its own screen, seeing has your own iphone can use the app for free the case is kinda silly

Would be great if they mixed it with a fit bit level to see your heartrate, radiation levels etc

 
If the pipboy was more then some plastic case for my phone I would be all over it. No mention of a steel either makes me say pass on this ce.

PS4 version is also listed at $119.00 as opposed to $119.99 for the XOne and PC versions. Don't know if that means anything, except maybe a grain of hope that its some kind of glitch or oversight for those of us who may have missed out.

I'm thinking its an glitch or error on BBY part. note that both xb1 and pc are priced at 119.99 while the ps4 is 119.00. I'm guessing its not that easy to just change the price and requires some kind of higher ups approval. so BBY just locked the ps4 PO until the price mistake is cleared.

Great if you cosplay.

Gives me a reason to do another Fallout cosplay since I didn't have a pip boy before.

Which is great if you're in a anime conventions and don't want to lose your phone too.
You'll be shock how much people drop phones or pickpocket in crowded conventions.

I wonder - do you think the pip boy will come with some kind of static "screen" for display?  I mean, I want one for display on the stand, but I don't intend to leave my cell phone in their permanently.  If it's just a gaping hole there, that's a problem.  I don't need functionality for it being displayed - just a nice static image.

P.S.  Is it just me or does the Pipboy screen area look rather large and square.  What phones are that square?  I really wish we could get a pic of it on display and not a mock up.

I don't actually want this edition ... but I pre-ordered in the hopes that they come out with something else around the $80 to $100 mark ... art book and Brotherhood of Steel figure is really all I want ... the Pipboy is going to be cheap and plastic, just like the last one that was even more "premium" was ... just saying.

The Skyrim dragon was pretty nice quality though even if the Pipboy wasn't complete garbage, I doubt it would fit my fat arms~ lol

 
Yeah, the dragon was nice but I'm looking at the build quality on this and it's just not going to be all that great. I wish they'd gone a different direction. The determing factor for me will be whether that's a small bound book that comes with it or a cheap pamphlet.

I agree. It's not a terrible set, but if I'm asking myself if I would pay $50 just for that Pip Boy cell phone case, the answer is no. The "metal case" is most likely a Metalpak or some generic metal case, which really brings the interest down compared to a Steelbook. I've got too many new games I want later this year anyway, so getting the standard edition will save me enough to get another game.

There's foam inserts shaped for different phones. They probably just made a hole big enough to fit all phones, while the foam inserts make up the difference.

 
I ordered it before looking at the contents.... I see a cancellation in my future.  That book better be really impressive.

They don't do rolling charges for me anymore on credit card pre-orders. Not sure about other forms of payment. It's probably been six months since they stopped doing rolling charges. They do one pre-auth at preorder and it drops off in a few days, then they charge in full a day or two before shipment.

 
Yeah because Amazon Sold out and posted a message. Usually BB sells out these days first because of GCU. Its also been up overnight (except PS4). It would be odd if BB was able to source more of these than Amazon as well.

With the PS4 just going live this morning, I think most people who already have orders in should be fine.

Best Buy still does rolling charges, but if you use a credit card it won't make a difference.  The rolling charges only effect Debit cards since you notice when $100 gets taken out and put back in within checking accounts.  Most people have large enough balances on credit cards not to notice.
