I heard about this too and opened up my MJ edition, redeemed the code, and played for a bit. The disk never left the box.

Well I have a pretty important update about that. I called their offices and got a hold of somebody who explained to me what the big delay was. The parts have been made and are sitting in a warehouse. The problem is the shipping company they were supposed to work with in sending out the items from said warehouse are currently in a dispute with TriForce. The items will be sent out to us, it's all inventoried and ready. They just need to figure out how to get them to us. It will take awhile. It won't be this year for sure. The rep I spoke with was confident that it was going to be resolved by the end of Q1 2016.

Also, while I was on the phone with him about the Inquisitor edition, I asked about what went wrong with the Batmobile editions. He wouldn't tell me anything because there was a big deal about it internally at TriForce so without having him admit to anything directly I just gave him my thoughts on what happened and he was careful in not disagreeing with what I said. I mentioned how items like that should have been mass produced months out in advance after the initial prototype and the timing of the cancellation within a week of release didn't jive with it being a "quality issue." He hinted that I was closer to the truth than what was stated to the public about it being a quality issue. So my take on it was that it was an issue between WB Games and Triforce. There's two sides to every story but I get the feeling now that Triforce didn't screw up using the prototype build.

The story about having a dispute with the shipping company makes zero sense. All they would need to do is contract with another shipping company. It shouldn't take another six months to do that. I am starting to suspect that there are no replacement parts and this is all just a scam to avoid claims to keep the company going until their next big contract. I doubt any of us will be seeing these replacements ever.

They make sense if the replacement parts are in the custody of the shipping company and they aren't in a cooperative mood.

What concerns me is that I haven't received an email from Tri-Force asking for my shipping address, so I'm pretty sure whatever they have ready to ship isn't anything for me. I honestly don't care THAT much about the broken piece, whichever one it is, because the IE box is tucked away in a corner right now anyway, but it's starting to be more about the principle.

I don't have anything to go off of other than a rep that works at TriForce. It is ludicrous that we're waiting a year. There is no recourse as Gamestop's return policy was 30 days (I contacted GS about this months ago). There is no recourse through our credit card company as they only allow disputes within 90 days (I contacted my Capital One CS months ago). There may be an exception made if you talk directly with your CC or bank but I feel like anything that involves a chargeback with the retailer would lead to an online ban against us anyway.

My guess is they are waiting another 4-5 months to sort it out with their shipping company and going with the next one by the end of Q1 next year.

Yeah, I was REALLY hoping something would show up on their website today as I'll be by a PC most of the day, but all week I'll be in the field so won't be able to check here often (at all) after today. I need to do that line app for this thread I guess.

Well this is nice. I wonder if the support team is actually going to be up to speed on it, or how it ends up shaking out. Nice you don't have to actually send them anything. I bet they just "kill" your LCE code while you're on the line.

There's really no expectation or anger about the system bundle including a digital version. Worth taking a swing at it though. I bet your guess is correct about the codes being identical between the LCE and the system.

 
I wonder how long before the Halo 5 LCE goes on clearance. $250 and been up for preorder since last December in all retailers. I'm hoping this will reach clearance eventually, I'd definitely pick it up for $100, or maybe even $120.

That's amazing. So you could technically sell off the the disc now. I wonder if all the copies are doing this, I'm willing to track one down just to redeem the code and sell off the game.

 
So whats the word on the status of Tales of Zesteria Collectors Edition? Is it sold out everywhere online? Is there a numbered print run of it? I was hoping to get a copy if possible or am I too late? ; ;

Edit : also has anyone imported it or know someone who has played it? I remember reading articles a few months back saying japan hated it and it sucked or something like that. But I love Tales, so... :/

GameStop exclusive codes will print on the receipt when you purchase. They are usually never packaged in the game because they would have to get a separate SKU which is more of a hassle for distributors.

The disc replacement offer will likely be long-gone by the time it might clearance out.

It was already confirmed on their official forums a week ago. I posted it in this thread about it on page 117.

 
I had to share this with you guys here, and I know I am going back a week or so so I do apologize.  I remember the girl who had her Fallout Anthology come to her soaking wet from Gamestop.  If you think that's bad, you should check out how my REPLACEMENT copy came from Best Buy.  Check out these couple photos:

Because GameStop sucks. SE is selling it for the MSRP. G$ is selling it with the good customer service and all-around good business practices tax.... oh, wait.

 
I can confirm. The restocks GameStop has for CE's are damaged products... or... let's phrase that correctly... Abused? Shredded? Handled? Used? I don't know. But if you want a brand new CE and something uncommon pops up out of nowhere... there is a reason. It wasn't just a brand new unit sitting in the back of a warehouse waiting for it's appearance. It's likely a store display unit, a return, or something is wrong with it.

A friend of mine bought the Titanfall CE the other day for $70 from GameStop. He asked the store manager twice if it was new and the manager claimed it was brand new. However when he opened it up at home, the Artbook and both soldier figures were loose in the box and not anywhere near where it was supposed to be compared to new ones opened on YouTube. It was pretty clear someone return it and just threw everything back in the box. Luckily nothing was damaged and since it was only $70 and he's been wanting that giant statue for cheap. He decided to keep it. However, it does prove Gamestop lies about these things quite a bit.

Gamestop will re-shrink wrap opened games and sell them as new. I used to work there and do it years ago sadly. Was part of the job.

I have more photos but sadly they were too large to upload. Funny part is the outer box was not damaged at all, so whomever packed and shipped this did so in the condition I received it in. The employees at Best Buy were shocked when I brought it in last night lol.

Holy crap, that's ridiculous. Guess I need to open mine up and see how it looks on the inside. I can only wonder at this point of what it's going to be. :pray:

You must still have yours sealed in the cardboard box. What's wrong with you man! At least take it out of that box so you can see its glory!

OT: Mine came pristine from BBY in the original distributor box.

Lol, reminds me of last year at Target. I bought the PS4 with TLoU and GTA V. It was the last one and the exterior box looked like it was handled by 5 year old. The tape closing the box was loose and the guy was like, "Here let me just put some scotch tape on that for you." I get home, open it up and the little plastic bags that hold the cords and whatnot were all mangled looking. GTA V wasn't sealed, which it should have been, but at least they were nice enough to leave the TLoU digital code in there for me that I didn't even bother trying to redeem. Anyway, I took it back to a different Target and they happened to have a brand new one in exchange for it.

TL:DR - People are scumbags, I don't think retailers really think about someone buying a bundled system and returning it for whatever reason, stealing the games inside of it.

My old Gamestop manager when I worked there used to tell me stories of how he would steal N64 games back in the day. He would open the game, swap the cart with a bar of soap, then re-shrink wrap them.

Love to see stuff like this. It means other retailers are paying attention to GCU customers and trying to win some of them back by offering additional deals. We win.

 
Only reason I pre-ordered Halo 5 at Gamestop is b/c it was too much work to move my credit over to BB to use GCU just to save $12. But since I can buy kindle cards at Gamestop, might go in and cancel my pre-order to get it from Amazon.

So if you spend 200% the price of the LCE, you get 50% of the discount? That's mighty tempting. I mean, I'll get that much in rewards buying it at Best Buy, maybe more.
