Anyone remember any other instances where one retailer carried a certain game/CE weeks before any other retailer like Gamestop did with the Mirror's Edge CE?

Still waiting for Best Buy to list that, as well as Amazon. I know it doesn't come out until Feb, but still. Gamestop had it weeks ago, and still not a peep from anyone else.

Yeah, Symphonia Chronicles was the one i thought would really go up in value compared to the other Tales CEs but so far, they have all been available long after release at a decent price if not lower than msrp.
 
Well, The Taken King Collector's Edition is available again for PS4 on Gamestop's site.
I'd like for the Xbox One version to make its self available next.

To be honest, I would be surprised if other retailers stocked the CE. The way it's set up in Gamestop's system, it's really two different SKUs (one for the game and one for the CE stuff). I can't see mainstream retailers wanting to mess with something like that. Maybe Amazon, but I can't imagine Best Buy, TRU, Target or Walmart handling it and there have actually been a few "stealth" GS exclusives in recent years that were never touted as such, but became exclusives by way of not being sold elsewhere.

That could be interpreted to mean GS is the exclusive retailer for North America. It could also be interpreted to mean the opposite.

That's what I thought too. I just looked up my order and my RZ cert isn't applied to it anymore. I got a reminder email to use my cert. They must have kicked it out.

Just checked my RZ account and it says: "You don't have any reward certificates." WTF?!

and my gamers club unlocked says I am a member "Through Invalid date". I wonder if they are cancelling the program?

I've gotten several emails about certs about to expire but I was certain that I already used them. And after checking my purchase history, I already did. It seems like these emails are being generated from outdated info.

based on the recent trend at least via gamestop they restocked (released the rest of their allotment) Metal gear phantom pain earlier this week and now destiny taken king collectors maybe their is a small chance they held some of their juggernog allotment back. at least this week shows that could be the case.

There's a big difference between the Juggernog Edition vs MGS V CE or Taken King CE though. Treyarch announced all Juggernog allotments has sold out with no more available just like the Fallout 4 Pipboy Edition. While the makers of MGS V CE or Destiny Taken king CE never said they wouldn't try to produce more to meet demand, which was clearly the case for the MGS V CE in the past 2 weeks.
 
I'm pretty sure the "no resell discussion" is more along the lines of "I've got this for sale" and "Check out my eBay page."

I thought what you said was fine. You MAY be able to trade the Pip Boy for the Juggernog.

while that is true. that does not mean that gamestop did not purposely hold some of their allotments back. once the inventory is allotted its not really up to treyarch to determine how gamestop chooses to devy up that allotment.

While its true gamestop can do what they want with there allotment of CEs, I simply dont see the business sense of holding back stock of a CE that is this hyped and sold out so quickly. I dont see gs doing that at all to be honest, it doesn't seem to aid them in any way. I could see holding a few back for damaged packages and replacements but I doubt they even do that (Dragon age: inquisition CE for example) GS just doesn't seem like the kind of company to do that. Again I could be wrong (hope I am) but I wouldnt bet on any more juggernog or pipboy editions becoming available in large amounts but there is always the few that get cancelled.

That's a good point, but unfortunately Gamestop was the first retailer to announce they sold their entire allottment of Juggernog Edition and weren't getting anymore. They were actually the ones that leaked out how rare the Juggernog CE was going to be even before Treyarch themselves confirmed it. Right now I'd have bigger hopes that Amazon may not have released their entire allottment than Gamestop. Of course if I was a betting man, I'd probably bet they'd all released their entire allottment.

Always a chance GameStop will decide to bundle it with something like a strategy guide/system/controller etc like with other recent collectible items. Still sells just as fast but they get to include another item at full MSRP with it.

Here's a fair assessment. (IMO)

Pros:
Decent graphics (which COULD be better)
Solid gameplay style.
Fun PvP.
Good core mechanics.

Cons:
Cut Content.
Overpriced Content.
Exclusive Content. (Would be fine if it were more a 1 month early access.)
Hacktivision.
NO Servers.
Balancing.
Error Codes.
RNG is shit.
Screwing over players every DLC.
Year One weapons are useless.

That being said, I AM getting the CE. Why? Cause I'm an idiot. However, I like the physical stuff it comes with but this is Bungie's last chance for me. If this "expansion" is short and shit, I'm done. The first 2 expansions and this one should've been included in the main game.
 
I hope they release some footage on that Halo 5 statue so I can decide whether or not I want to keep my pre-order that I got for like $130.

Yeap it is a shitty expansion @ $40 to me. If it comes out, and shows that it is worth the $40 then I might reconsider it. As of right now it's on my do not buy list.

I'm a big destiny fan but I cant help but agree with this. Bungie has really handled several things poorly and has not treated its fans very well especially considering how much money we have spent, or been asked to spend.

they can handle things poorly because they understand the majority of their audience is so fricken hooked to the game that it truly does not matter. They are gonna drop the 40 bux on sept 15th and not bat an eye. and bungie is gonna count the dough rolling in. And if you dont believe me just go glance at ebay and it proves people are NUTS for this game. (sorry i know any mention of selling will get the ire of some troll)

Destiny has provided many people more entertainment per dollar spent than any game in history.  The poor value argument doesn't exactly fly.  I will never understand the need people feel to shit all over it when they decide they don't want to play it anymore.  It was a game you liked for a long period of time.  It's an experience unlike anything else that is offered on consoles.  You can just stop playing it if it no longer interests you.  It doesn't have to be some messy divorce.

Let me explain it to you, and MAYBE you will get it.

They have messed up with this expansion. The pricing, and the PR over it is all negative to a lot of people. I fall into that category. I LIKE THE GAME, but I will NOT pay $40 for the expansion, or pay ANOTHER $80 to get all the stuff when I already have all the previous stuff.

Example : I love steelbooks, want to buy the LE, but it's paying a premium for the vanilla + expansions which I ALREADY have. They created no option for people like me except to say F U.

They didn't think about anything except the cash grab. Sorry that the game has you so wrapped that you can't see anything from another point of view.

If the expansion goes on sale for $20 I'll buy it then. Do you understand now? Jeez.

not really could you go a little slower please :p. If all your buddies jump on it at $40 you still gonna be able to sit their and wait while they play all the new content without you? ;)
