Amazon fr got it back and I got in on a preorder with EUR 9 shipping (359 EUR) and I was wondering why the two had different prices since they're both sold by Amazon EU. The price difference with the import tax Amazon Spain was charging was big (like EUR 60). Anyone have experience with these things and did I just change when I'll get hit with the import tax (i.e. instead of pre-paying the import/custom fee I'll not get hit post-paying it)?

That being said, I was not charged customs fees the two times I imported consoles in the past. However, in both cases, the retailer marked a much lower value for the package on the customs form than what it was worth, so that could be why.

Anything that the seller values over $200 is subject to customs fees.

Not necessarily. It depends on what the items in question are. There are items in which you can import $10,000 worth of before you incur customs fees. And then there are items that incur customs fees at lower dollar values like you specified. There's a lot of documentation available online that covers the specifics of this.

The point is that it's not a bad idea to look up potential customs fees for anything that you are considering importing in order to avoid nasty surprises. Customs fees can run as high as 30% of the value of the item from what I've seen.

One good way to bypass customs is to use EMS. It's pricey, but I've never paid customs fees on anything shipped through EMS in my life. I've been consistently ed over by DHL, UPS, and FedEx as far as customs fees go, so I steer clear of those carriers when I import stuff.

Well the fastest 2 day shipping says delivery is estimated September 3-4. So im assuming to get it here internationally by then they will send it out before.
