Noyce.  Got it preordered at Amazon.  Guess it's not SE exclusive, which surprises me.  Now to have it pop up at BB. 

Also, the post above me is very presumptuous.  This is a thread for collectors editions which are usually on the pricey side.  It's literally why we came to this specific place to talk about these specific editions of games.  If we didn't manage our income to allow us to buy these, we wouldn't come here to talk about buying them.  But, even if you just want to talk about them because they're swell, that's cool, too.

Octopath CE difference is the US edition comes with the soundtrack, EU doesn't. Also the OP now has too many characters. CONTENT_TOO_LONG, had to delete a line of short links in the patch notes to add the recent additions. 

 
Looks like Octopath's CE is not going to be hard to get, the real question is when Best Buy will put it up and if I'll be able to snag it for $80 :).

 
I'm waiting for best buy to put up the octopath traveler Wayfarer edition. I haven't shopped from GameStop in forever and I don't plan on starting again.
 
Its kind of a bummer.  Got a lot of GS cred but dont really want to support Nintendo releasing pretty minimal extras for $40 more.

While I agree that it would be awesome to get more for that extra $40, especially if I don't get in on GCU when/if it posts, I'm not super upset by this. Having worked for a decade in print ops / output processing for one of the largest insurers in the U.S., I can assure you that that pop up book(or any artbook really) is not cheap to produce. I'm going to assume that it's thicker than your standard cardstock or pages in typical CE artbooks. This also is not going to be high volume enough to get significant discounts and whoever is actually manufacturing this CE(I am assuming Nintendo / Squeenix contracted this out to a 3rd party to deal with) probably doesn't do enough business across the range of platforms / games to qualify for a significant company discount.

I guess my roundabout point is that, especially in this day and age, printing things is not cheap. It may not look like much (and hopefully it's thick and sturdy like cardboard), but I'm not appalled by that premium.

Stop being reasonable. According to this thread if a CE isn't $10 more than the standard version with a 4-Disc Soundtrack, 200 Page Hardcover Artbook, Steelbook case, and 12" Statue it's overpriced.

Pfft. Why bother paying a premium at release. If it's a big-box CE, just wait for Amazon to sell them at 80% off a year later.

Or even 20-40% off 1-3 months later. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is easy to be had for cheap from Amazon Warehouse deals.

I would love to wait but Nintendo has a history of under producing CE even though some recent ones are available. Zelda and Fire Emblem are the two that stick out to me. Either way I got mine on order and hope Best Buy puts it up soon.

Of course, order first and ask questions later. I prefer to return/rebuy than to have to pay up for the CE that escaped me.

I'm not sure why they don't just make it $100 with the game included. From a business standpoint that's more appealing than $70 without the game.

This has been going on for several years. Dead Space 3 comes to mind and I'm sure there were a few before that.

For collector's with a backlog or who aren't sold on the game, it makes a lot of sense. You can get the extras now and buy the game at a discount when it's discounted later. Most people justify the price of a CE/LE by factoring in a $59.99 game and let's face it, games decrease in value very very quickly

Yes I don't see the big deal of not including the game. I'm so backlogged I often sell the copy of the game from the CE when it first comes out and then rebuy it later for $12 to $15 when I'm ready to play it. The copy of the game is the item from the CE that depreciates in value the fastest.
 
I can understand doing a CE with no game for games that are released on multiple platforms since it helps out retailers more, but when its an XB1/PC exclusive it seems like it really wouldn't be that big of a hassle to just throw in a code like they did with Halo 5 (hell, they even did a steelbook for that code).
