FAQ:
  • What is this thread? A massive collection of limited edition games & other attributing items, included with links.
  • Why put it all in one thread? More traffic due to collaborating interests.
  • Why is that important? This keeps the thread popular and doesn't risk a failed CE from falling through the cracks unnoticed.
  • What can be discussed here? Anything relevant to what is posted.
  • Why make another CE compilation when 2017 isn't over yet? Karma.
  • Where are the big pictures? Still here, scroll down. Due to the increased number of CEs, a preface post is needed.
  • When is Kingdom Hearts 3 CE? Not announced. Granted, IF it does, you can bet I will devote an entire page to it.
  • What about other CEs that have been announced? Give me a minute. It takes a bit of time to format the title, price, date, & retailer links in correctly.

How do they limit how many you can buy? Are they only sold at Nintendo’s online store or something? Otherwise they have no say,
It is Nintendo so I fully expect these to be hard to get ahold of. I am planning on putting a pre-order in as soon as they go live on the 18th.

Wait so without the season pass I won't get the whole story? Already don't care for assassin's Creed anymore but dlc is supposed to be extra missions that isn't needed for the story, not the other way around.
I have always felt this way as well. Except this time playing devils advocate I may side with Ubisoft. This content is clearly not finished since it comes out December and Spring of ‘19. Would you rather they hold the game back until next year for six DLC episodes? Now if they came out a month later, that would definitely irk me.

Plus everyone knows game prices have been stagnant for many years now, at $60. AC Origins was a hundred hour game if you wanted to do everything, and it was absolutely massive. The manpower to make a game with graphics like that has to be leaps and bounds more difficult and time comsuming than years ago. With the same price point, I can see why some have DLC now. Or prices can just be raised up front. Though wages need to go up too, school have been stalled for too long. And that’s another story for another day folks...

Remember, you will have to subscribe to the Switch Online service as well, so you can't just buy the controllers on their own.

True cheap asses should know that you never buy Ubisoft games Day 1.  In about 30 days the game will be discounted.

I expect some deep discounts on Black Friday.   Just like last year, when AC: Origins dropped to $35 on BF, and Gamestop had the game+season pass for $70 total.  In addition, all games have to defend themselves against RDR2, which is gonna slaughter them all, so they need the 'discount card' to play to even survive.

Ubisoft has been profiting off "two games" for the work of one by utilizing the Season Pass bullshit.  So now they can jack up the price 2x ($120) of the standard MSRP of $60.  Except the Season Pass content and other BS cosmetics is not even on the same scale as the base game.

Finally, Ubisoft games depreciate the fastest because their games are mostly busywork.  Meaningless side missions, collect-a-thons, etc.

This is why I don't buy Call of Duty, Madden or NBA games at launch.

Yes, if it means getting the complete game and not a portion of it. Now if those DLC episodes weren't needed for the story than sure, have a season pass. But if it is essential to the story of the full game, yeah I can wait.

I can completely understand that for some games the development cost more than others but when you advertise the full game for $60, I expect to get the entire story for that game with that price, not a portion of it and the rest locked in a season pass. I don't hate Ubisoft but they make it real hard to support them with this practice.

But I'm not the target audience for this anyways. I don't buy season passes, I don't buy games day 1, and I always wait for price drops of at least half off (before GCU and Amazon benefits died). Only DLC I've ever paid for was for Mario Kart 8 (Wii U), Last of Us: Left Behind, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and inFamous: First Light. Usually DLC (in season passes) are just fluff that I rather not spend extra money on.

I learned that years ago with Ubisoft. I stopped buying day one with AC Black Flag for PS3. As the former self proclaimed worlds biggest AC fan, I’d spend nearly a thousand USD at launch for every AC game. You name it I bought it. Games, consoles, books, art, paintings, statues, shoes. Yes, shoes. Then they really started milking the franchise creating tons of junk. And the final straw was selling broken games at launch, to fix them with patches one to two months later. And I suffer through playing glitched games I cannot 100%. Then the coup de grace... one month later their games are half price.

So do tell, why would any sane person pay full price for a broken game when a month later they can pay half price with a patched game? And so I’ve never bought a launch game since then.

Edit: side note, bought the God of War PS4 Pro. Waited a month for patches. Halfway through I suffered the frozen flame glitch which honestly ruined my experience and nearly wasn’t able to obtain the platinum trophy. No No Kuni II, which I just beat last night, had a trophy breaking bug as well. If you played the game before the patch, you couldn’t obtain the platinum. And this is a 100+ plus platinum!

Assassins Creed games are always cheap as hell on black friday. Sometimes before, it all depends. I haven't really wanted to play an AC game in awhile, but do really want to play the new one. I can wait.

The NES controller packs says it's limited to 1 per account but the $35 family plan lets you add up to 8 accounts. So you can get around the limit if you really need too. ;)

You couldnt be further from the truth.
IMO aka In My Opinion

I bought every one after that up until the one in Egypt. I never got around to playing Black Flag, and heard it was good, but at this point I just don't care anymore. The ones before Black Flag I played were trash.

I'm torn over Assassin's Creed day 1 due to my steelbook obsession.....
Lol, same here and we really just need a self help group. I really liked Origins and almost platted it but for reference it's 43 bucks on Xbox right now so there's no doubt the game will drop in price dramatically over time.

Rogue was decent just for the unique twist on the story. AC3, Unity and Syndicate were pretty bad imo. Black Flag is a gem though and definitely worth your time if you can get to it. More a pirate simulator than anything but it has endured as my favorite AC game. Just something about battling multiple man-o-wars surrounded by hurricanes and tornadoes.

That's where I'm at as well. I decided to wait on the Far Cry 5 Steelbook, but that thing disappeared in a hurry. I'm wondering if Ubisoft is lowering Steelbook print runs now after having South Park sit out there with massive discounts.

Got my Tomb Raider today. I've been complaining on here a lot lately about UPS delivering my packages to the wrong address. It has happened like 3 or 4 of my last 6 or 7 packages. Last time it happened was a week or so ago, I saw the driver deliver it to the wrong address and drive away. If I didn't watch him do it, I'd never have known unless if the neighbor brought the package to me honestly. Today it almost happened again. The UPS driver pulled up on my street, went to a couple houses, didn't come to mine, and started to drive off. I chased him down and he stopped and I said I'm supposed to get a package do you have it?

He was like "Oh crap, so sorry, I misread the label, I was on my way to deliver it to the next block down."

Once again disaster averted, but man this is starting to stress me out. I can't be here all the damn time waiting for my packages.

So true. I bought 4 of the Gold Editions from Target this year for about $20-30.

Also true. But that's because most people, including almost everyone here, can't get over the mental hurdle that games need to cost $60. Publishers have to do it that way because people won't pay more than $60 for games. It's pretty cut and dry. So I see both sides of the coin.

If you wait 6-8 months the steelbook can be found at Target for $20. It's all a matter of how early you need to play Ass Creed. If you don't need it day1 then the answer is clear.

So it was you who ruined the franchise.

agreed. Black Flag was great. Origins was the best. I had quit on AC until Origins

By all means if I had to pick a camp, it would be anti DLC. I don't tolerate companies that have the content on disc and sell you a key months later. Saw that several times now. Not that I'm sticking up for Ubisoft this round, the last game AC Origins was massive. Way bigger than the other games, so much more to do and see. It took me 100 hours to platinum it whereas other AC games were around 30-40 hours to platinum. If AC Odyssey ends up the same, I personally wouldn't complain much that the DLC adds on extra content nearly a year later, especially if it isn't on disc already.

The solution is to make games cheaper, not more expensive. Clearly that isn't working so cut cost in game development or offer DLC that people actually want to pay for. There is a reason games like God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Spider Man manage to sell a shit-ton and don't need extra DLC in order to survive (yes, Spider Man has DLC, but it doesn't need it for people to pay $60 and it be the top selling game this month).

I don't think it's right to blame the customer for not wanting to spend $X on something they don't think is worth it. That's not the customers fault, it's the maker of the product / economy.

Lmao... again???

Looks like Nintendo is reprinting the Zelda Breath of the Wild  & Splatoon 2 Starter Editions. They are listed as a pre-order for Sept 28th.

I agree, I got super tired of AC games, but they really rebounded.

The Ezio trilogy was great, 3 sucked, Black Flag was awesome, Unity sucked, Syndicate was ok, but couldn't finish it, Origins was awesome, and I can't wait for Odyssey.

I concur. On the flip, GoW and AC are both $60 games. GoW is linear while AC has a massive open world with loads more dialog, lines, and content. Just like a car with more features, I don't see why todays day and age everything HAS TO BE $60 no matter if it's a ten year in the making game or a two person studio.

I don't agree at all. Making games cheaper does not sell more games, nor does it facilitate the creation of higher quality games. Whether something is reduced to $39.99 or $49.99 at launch, that does not cause more people to go out an buy those games. How many of you guys went out and bought Yakuza Kiwami (1 or 2), Sonic Mania, or Megaman Collections upon release? Yeah, exactly. CAGs will still wait for it to get cheaper; the starting point doesn't matter.

Also I am not blaming the customers. I don't blame anyone for buying cheap games. We are CAGs afterall. The biggest problem has been publishers cannibalizing the value of their own games and franchises (massive slashing sales 4-8weeks after launch), and it always will be.

If I owned a game company, we simply wouldn't put our games on sale outside of occasional seasonal events. The same way Nintendo does it. Games retain their $60 values, and people feel good about making $60 purchases. Then the focus can remain on making good games, as it should be. God of War did it. It has only been on sale for $50 a couple of times. Why is this so hard?

I also think that most Ubisoft games are very poor examples of games that cut corners, or cut content. They are an excellent publisher. You always feel like you're getting a complete game's worth of content with the base version. They are not one of the main offenders in the DLC department.

I’m an old-school gamer, but I wouldn’t say I’m anti-DLC: rather, I’m anti-taking advantage of gamers. If a developer releases a game that is incomplete, buggy or just plain bad, and uses DLC/patches to improve the entire game (a la No Man’s Sky), or add cool tip-of-the-hat characters or game modes, I don’t see how anyone could dislike that. Indeed, I don’t even get upset at developers for adding new, expansive quests or weapons or characters after the fact, as expanding the mythos/canon of a universe is a great thing IMO. My gripe comes when “DLC” really means a patch to unlock content that is already on the original disc, or when a company releases a game that is deliberately unfinished just make a deadline (or a quick buck) and then uses DLC to “add content” that is simply part of the original game. People complain about games being expensive, but that only happens in the absence of perceived value: I have no problem shelling out my hard-earned dollars for games if the correct amount of value is there. I’ll buy final fantasy tactics over and over again, because I know the depth and entertainment I will receive in playing it. Would I spend $40 on it every time? Hell no...

Random question but haven't seen it lately but do game stores still have exclusive pre-order DLC?
Just saw this on GameStop’s Twitter a few days ago. Answer to your question is yep lol

The problem all starts when signing under one of the 'shareholder interests' publishers.   If you don't want your game to go to shit then you don't sign contracts with EA, Activision, or the like.

I ordered the Pantheon Edition from Ubi’s website. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I really love that time period and really liked the look of the statue. It will be the first AC CE I’ll have ever bought. I have Black Flag’s but it was a gift. I usually have no interest their CEsmor buying their games at launch, but that edition has been sold out on their site for months so I don’t know if it’ll be rare.
