I ordered one from best buy the first time around and ordered another to be safe from best buy ebay and I just got a delay email.  I hope to get at least one.

What title was it? There was a delayed email or cancellation emails BB sent out for a recent title and everyone freaked out, but they said on their website it was an error and it should be resolved shortly.

Maybe their system automatically defaults to a certain date if shipments don't go out on time, and this was an automated thing, because no one has gotten a shipping email yet.

This might be cleared up by the afternoon.

 
I think people are freaking out because of the timing of the eBay listing ending, and the emails being sent out to all orders, lol.

Coincidentally disastrous.

I've read a few people have said they called around today/tonight, asked if there was extras that weren't allocate to pre-orders, and some stores did have an extra and allowed them to come in and reserve it. (gamestop that is).

I emailed them complaining, I would suggest complaining through e-mail, twitter, facebook, otherwise they aren't going to do anything about it. It's delayed a month because they are expecting more stock, or that's what I assume. In March they will cancel orders because no new stock has been made available. Super frustrating.

Because retailers have separate allotments for different purchasing channels, like web orders and store orders, or website orders and ebay orders as in this case. Retailers like Target and Best Buy always like to have some stock on-hand for release day even if it has been long sold out, and their representatives say that it's completely gone and there's no more available stock. They will also always try to have stock if it's in the weekly ad.

Separate allotments. That doesn't make what happened tonight right. But they always had xxx units put aside for Ebay orders.

This is incorrect, or they wouldn't be cancelling ebay orders, right? People are saying they have been cancelled on here and on reddit. Something strange is going on.

That's correct. One Gamestop in my area was shipped an additional 7 units. I'm sure they were picked up by employees and their friends. Then the rest would have been sold at either midnight release (doubt they had one) or else at open this morning.

This all, after other nearby stores had to send out cancellation phone calls in the previous weeks to people who pre-ordered.

No one had theirs ship yet though, so I think it's a system-wide thing. If a bunch of people were getting their orders ship, I would say they oversold, but if it keeps going at this rate, no one is going to get their games. They have to go to some people.

Maybe I'm wrong, but my guess is Best Buy goofed majorly tonight, and Friday morning/afternoon we get some kind of an update from Best Buy's end, and they either tell everyone that their orders will ship soon, or that there was a communication error with Nintendo and they will still ship, but later. I don't expect a ton of cancellations. I'd be much more concerned if it was like Ni no Kuni Wizard Edition where half were cancelled, but half weren't. This seems unanimously cancelled.

I highly doubt they got 7 extra unless they had a lot of cancels. We tried to order 1 or 2 extra for the people that ordered after Nov 18th and were not able to get any extra. Not one store in our district got any extra.

 
Most of those Ebay in store pickup orders will probably get cancelled after store opens in the morning. If those orders hold up then maybe Bestbuy officially flipped their own copies lol. They probably put everyone who preordered with GCU discount orders on ebay tonight and sell it for full price. Cha Ching!!!

The store I preordered from received one extra, 8 total with 7 preorders. Most of the ebay store pick up orders will likely be canceled in the morning before opening when the inventory team gets around to gathering the online orders and manually cancel what they don't have.

 
I placed a web order, got one submitted early before the listing was pulled. Looks like all the in-store pickups so far are cancelled, everyone else is getting the confirmed shipping date for February 23rd...

 
Here's the thing also. The store where I'm supposed to pick mine up tomorrow only got 1 copy in (which is my preorder from November). I even confirm it with the manager. But this store was also on the availability list in that Ebay listing. So this tells me pretty much every store that got them in (even though they're all just for preorder fulfillment) made it to that Ebay listing. Yea guess I gotta pick mine up as soon as it opens otherwise there will probably be tons of people trying to get it.

For real me too.

One of the reasons I always try to order in store pickup is they almost always get it before release day so there's a very low chance of a delay / cancellation as opposed to shipping.
 
To be honest, just saw a SE unboxing video, and now if my order get canceled I won't care as much. This is all hype. The book is cool, but that pouch is so fucking flimsy (I know it was never supposed to be an actual sturdy case, but seeing the actual pouch, it's really underwhelming). This is basically an extra $10-15 that the SE gets for free that people are selling on ebay for $200. The Persona Q LE was way better than this. That had an actual 3DS case and is also $79.99. Also I can always get Fates plus DLC for $80 as well, just without the extra stuff I'll never use. If I get my order fulfilled cool, if not I'll just buy Birthright and then Conquest for $20.

I wonder if all those eBay store pick up cancellations will get replenished.  All 2,000 weren't for ship to home so it may just improve the chances for the original .com orders again.

And also this is why I prefer a merged thread.  Sort of annoying having to click between two threads now.
