Another time i've been fucked up by best buy. lol. Sad that they have me by the balls with GCU or i'd never shop there again.

I don't want a 20$ cert. I want my fucking item.

The fuck are they doing "preparing to ship" anyway? Do they have like 30 sub-100 IQ workers standing around and going "does it go in this box? Oooh, nope..does it go in this box? Oooh..nope..crap, what were we putting in a box again?"

I don't know what's more embarrassing -- this, or the times they've put the collector's editions i've ordered out on the floor with the pick slips on them, or just put my collector's edition out on the floor WITHOUT the pick slip on it.

Best buy couldn't find my GG XRD collector's edition in the back, and someone went to the floor, and lo and behold, there it was, the only copy they got in sitting out in the open, waiting to be bought by anyone.

BB is truly a giant pile of shit. But that 20% off plus the CC I have with them for rewards makes everything about 26% cheaper.

Sigh.
Holy moses, calm down man. If your item is in "preparing to ship" phase, chances are you'll get it. It obviously doesn't literally mean people are preparing it, it just means your order has been fully processed, and they are going to soon put your copy in packaging and mail it.

No company is perfect, but Best Buy is faaaar from the worst of evils. In fact, they are one of the better companies. Me personally, I'll take the 20% discount, points, good return policy, and price matching over a company like Gamestop who ships you opened games as new, and gets large batches of rare games reprinted, opens them all so they can sell them used at mark-ups any day.

I have only pre-ordered 2 times ever from best buy.

I got into Mass Effect super late but became addicted to the game. The hype for Mass Effect 2 was off the wall.

I pre-ordered my Collectors Edition at Best buy and went the morning of release and waited outside a few minutes before opening (as did several others)

I was told they only got 10 copies in (there was more than 10 of us there)

Instead of going to Customer Service to pick up my reserved copy. I go out to the floor and see all the copies there out on the shelf. I pick mine up (in disgust) and bring it up to the register to be rung up. :/

Second (and last time) I pre-ordered something was the Special Edition of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 for Xbox 360.

They told me they only got 3 copies in. By the time I came that night (around 7pm or so) they were all gone.

I was dumbfounded and just left. I was done with pre-ordering with Best Buy.

I also would notice they would have boxes to bring to the registers out on the floor to pre-order games, limited edition of games. These would be out on the floor (and they would gladly ring you up for said pre-order) for limited / collector edition of games, 2 days before launch.

How exactly were they going to gaurentee your copy when launch day is 2 days away and the items have been shipped out along time ago?

Best buy blows my mind.

Oh....and spider webs crushing CE boxes. fuck Spider Webs. fuck Best Buy. They have no idea what the fuck they are doing.

Like all B&M store, ymmv with the service. My local best buys seem to be competent enough to get preorders right and hold them behind the shelf.

Though, I always use the instore pickup option on the website rather than do the in store preorder. (Rather not pay a deposit).

All best buy around me pretty much stop using the spider security thing. They stock them in a cage now and you need to ask an employee to get it.

If I was best buy, I would stop selling any CE/LE/SE's that weren't a first print game (like what EA does). They profits must be miniscule compared to the headaches that the call centers and CSR agents in store have to deal with. I mean we have people got apeshit because a game comes one business day late.

I'm starting to think as long as they get some kickbacks, retailers outside of gamestop are going to welcome the all digital age.

I doubt it even means that. It more likely means they validated your payment method, it's close to or after the release date, and it's supposed to be available. Or not... I've had an item that didn't even exist be in a "preparing to ship" stage before. It was a Blu-Ray that had a listing, but never released. Somehow, it was "preparing to ship" even though it hadn't even been manufactured. Something like that has happened to me at least a couple of times. I put very little trust in their "preparing to ship" status.

Truth be told if it weren't for the fact that the Fire Emblem SE is the only way to obtain all of the games content physically, I wouldn't really care as much about it.
The map pack is digital, so it's impossible to get everything as physical. Yay for day 1 dlc.

I actually didn't know that, but I'm also quite sure if someone bought $1000 worth of Fates SE and filed a fraudulent chargeback. The seller wouldve gotten the police involved as well. So yea, I really hope he was just joking with that idea.
And the seller would have his address lol. I wouldn't blame the seller if he came and gave that a person a 'visit'.

And I emailed Best Buy CS about returning my Best Buy eBay Fates and re buying to get the discount and I was told that I would work.

It's always funny. Whenever people get mad at resellers or scalpers they resort to doing something illegal and immoral while trying to justify that what they are doing is right. Ironic since they think reselling is on par with selling drugs to inner city kids.
Sometimes you need the money for your moms medical bills too. No one ever thinks about that.

Agreed, it all depend on the management of the store and the actual employee there. My store is normally great but once they messed up my instore pickup. Got a your item is ready for pickup email and when I went to the store they told me that the item wasn't ready and that wasn't the pickup order, but my order confirmation and I can hang around and wait for the delivery truck. I got confused since it was just a movie and all new release are on a Tuesday and I went in on a Wednesday. Tried to reason with them for a little bit and just left as it was going nowhere. As I was leaving the store to head to work, I saw a display with about 50 of the movies just sitting there.

You should buy all 5 and then file a chargeback once you receive them.
You'd have to send them all back to win the chargeback, so it'd be pointless to do that, unless you were just trying to waste the reseller's time. The chargeback also wouldn't cover your return shipping costs, so it'd cost you to mess with the reseller.

It's made by Triforce, don't be burned like all of us still waiting on fixed Dragon Age CE's.
Yeah, that frightens the hell out of me. I really want that DOOM LE, but can't bring myself to drop $120 (before GCU) on something from those clowns. I've never actually wanted/ordered a statue LE in my life, yet I've read horror stories for days on Triforce. I'm torn between missing out and getting burned.

I'm curious about that Steelbook. The one last year looked awesome with the wood grain and texturing. I wonder if this year's will be similarly awesome, or just boring and generic. I don't even have a PS4 (yet), and I want to order it.

I put in a pre-order for it and I'm sure someone will show the picture of what it looks like / unboxing pictures, so I can have it and then worry about returning it if it's not good.

The one from last year was a great SB, this one looks like a baseball from the picture, so it could go either way on it being good.

I used my "we fucked up, here's $20" bonus GC from Best Buy to buy it, so it's on the cheaper than the $55.99 price post GCU.

TriForce had one mishap.

They make great statues on their own; I'm sure when they are approached by Bethesda, Bioware, etc. they lose a lot of control when they're being told to make "X" statue for under "Y" dollars.

The TriForce hate is one of the most inflated things on this website. They also made the TLOU PP statue (Ellie and Joel) and that will resell for double the cost of the actual CE.

Amazes me people expect $300 value out of a $120 CE which they paid less then a $100 for. It's a good thing none of you actually collect real statues

Yeah, like I said, no PS4 here, but I've considered ordering the steelbook for 15 from eBay (it's been $15-20), just to have. A baseball's tougher to judge than a bat and the wood grain. I imagine they aren't giving us a leather-bound case with stitching, haha. If it's just a cheap, crappy mold with paint and raised sections for the stitching, I'm less inclined to care than when you do something like last year's.

My friend ordered one from Walmart over the phone and just received it today. It came in a white bubbled envelope with one corner slightly crushed.

Sometimes you need the money for your moms medical bills too. No one ever thinks about that.

I'm honestly impressed that they managed to get 20. Wow.

I don't sit here and question why people resell just as I don't question why people have other jobs. It's a means to make money and support ones self. People say "oh they're greedy and don't deserve it". Wonder if people think the same when someone gets a rise. Like "how dare you try to make more money now, save some for the rest of us!".

Slightly joking but I think the whole hate is out there. I understand it b/c people don't get things they want for the the price they want... than I think that other resellers and people who managed to get it worked much harder to get what they want. (yes, part of it is luck and timing which you can't control)

Like those people at my Fry's. I stayed in line with my friends for 6 hours to get it. Should I feel bad that I put in the effort to get it over the 30 people that came 20 minutes before opening thinking they got ripped off for the small amount of work they put in. I don't.

Don't you make a living at it??

Reselling/Flipping is probably one of the best sources of income for a college student like myself and I think TheOneGuyWho as well. It's easy and only requires timing and sometimes sufficient funds. And I can do it all while in class or while doing college things, without having to give up time working a job even though it is constant money coming in. The fact that I can do well in school and still keep my money up and the fact that it's fun is why I am pro-flip

Like those people at my Fry's. I stayed in line with my friends for 6 hours to get it. Should I feel bad that I put in the effort to get it over the 30 people that came 20 minutes before opening thinking they got ripped off for the small amount of work they put in. I don't.
Theirs one guy on Ebay that already sold over 80, and still shows 10+ available!!!

This was actually pretty big news last month. Any orders placed at Gamestop after Nov 18th had to be canceled cause Nintendo told Gamestop they won't be sending them enough.
Unfortunately, I missed out on that news. I ordered a copy from Gamestop on 11/19 and was surprised to see a random cancellation this morning.

I love reselling (not scalping, there is a difference) and it's grown to be not just a hobby but a full time job for me. As a college student myself, it's how I support myself. I pay for everything on my own (tuition, housing, entertainment, etc). I've had multiple jobs too but I make more reselling so I always quit once the school year starts.

It isn't necessarily easy though. I source constantly and am always working. But it's something I love so it isn't work for me but something more. No other job I've had could have gotten me my 50in LG HDTV, $1,300 ASUS laptop, car, Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, pay for school on time every semester, all my consoles, all my games, etc. I don't ever pay MSRP for any of these things but I can have all I want b/c I am my own boss and control my income. I calculate my money daily and love seeing how my money is going to rise. It's taught me how to appreciate money and control it.

Anyways. I, YGC and every other reseller I've known do it not to stick it to anyone (we barely ever sell things over MSRP either) but to support ourselves in an economy that would not get us as much money by means of a regular job.

I feel like games should be purchased and enjoyed by people who actually want to PLAY the games, not people who are simply in it to make a profit.

I'm in it to make a profit... and pay for my other games. I'm also enjoying Fire Emblem Fates right now so.

I'd love to know how you support yourself and your "fancy" life by rarely selling things over MSRP. Seems like you wouldn't make a profit on anything.

I used my $20 to buy a copy of FE Awakening to keep sealed. I've been putting that off for some time and figured now was good S ever. Came out to $14 and change after the GCU discount and $20 credit.

I know it's hard to believe but people can buy things for up to 90% off at stores / online (you're on CAG so this isn't that hard to believe). I do retail arbitrage which means I go out to stores, find clearances (and stack coupons, rewards programs, etc.) for XYZ percent off and resell online for less than MSRP since my ROI (return on investment) will garner profit based on what I initially paid.

And I don't live a "fancy" life. I get the few things I want / need but I don't go out on spending sprees buying crap. My TV, laptop, phone, tablet, etc. is about the only expensive things I've paid for for myself. The bulk of my money / savings goes towards paying my tuition and rent. Right now I'm saving up for a new (used) car so most of my reselling profits is for that.

You guys should look up youtube videos of other resellers (if you're interested) and look beyond the stereotypical view that we're all money hungry hounds waiting to sell our loved ones organs. Majority of resellers are simply trying to make a living.

This guy, Raiken Profit is a great example. He sold his home and started out a reselling tour across the country (not that uncommon across people who make a lot of money reselling). Very different look of what resellers are / do.

we get it. do your thing. doubt anyone in this thread cares.

Guys, call your local Best Buy (or go in) and ask them in they still have copies. Friend just called BB and they said they did have 1 left from a cancelled pre-order (could be that they couldn't pay for it). Worth calling and asking.

The attempt at redemption is real.

I want to apply the $20 promo and some giftcards to my fire emblem fate special edition in store, can I do with just the receipt or do i need to take the item as well?

Considering how many November pre-orders still haven't shipped I'll be curious to see how BB handles this come Monday. Another coupon? Ice cream? Bjs for all?
