So what have we learned today?

1.) A crushed CE box is no big deal at all. Despite it being called a "Collector's Edition"

2.) Buying two copies of a game legitimately is a TERRIBLE thing, and I'm a TERRIBLE person.

3.) Posting pictures of anything wrong on a CE thread is a TERRIBLE thing.

4.) Posting pictures of a damaged product when OTHER people didn't even GET said product is akin to heresy. NEVER DO IT.

Thank you for proving my point. Both my wife and I are gamers. I got one for me, and for her (for her birthday this Sunday). But once again, thank you again for proving my point.

It seems like you are venting your frustrations on here. My point is to be thankful you have it, it could've been worse damage or cancelled. You post pictures here like we as a forum can do anything for you. The point of you posting those was for sympathy, nothing more.

I picked up mine instore and it also had damage. Could've possibly been a warehouse issue.

Once again, thank you for telling me why I'm doing something, when you know literally nothing about me.

I'm not looking for sympathy, and yes - obviously I'm frustrated. By your logic, if you post a deal here, you're just looking for validation of how awesome you are. Or if you post how perfect your game showed up, you're looking to show off how awesomely lucky you are. Some of us don't have an ulterior motive, and are just providing data points. I hadn't seen anyone irritated his/her copy showed up mangled, so I'm providing said info, with proof.

I'm just trying to show people that Best Buy and Amazon do a crap job at packing their games. Amazon packaged it in a "skin tight" cardboard envelope, so it was obviously going to get scuffed to all hell, and dented if ever dropped. Best Buy shipped it in a far-too-big box with one air pocket padding thingy. It was flying around in said box for just one night (they shipped it overnight), and it was obviously going to get trashed the way they shipped it.

So, again, I consider myself providing useful information as to how TWO companies shipped a CE game. What are you and others contributing? That I should clean my floor? That I shouldn't be upset because some people didn't get a copy of the game? Some of us like to get the product we paid for. My wife won't mind, but I have a nice collection of games on a shelf, and I'd like this to sit there with them without looking like complete ass.

I think, really, if you've nothing to contribute to a CE thread regarding CE games, don't waste your time in future.

I got two copies and I'm gonna rub them allllllllllll over my body.

Oh and for the record the Best Buy one came in a large padded envelope and has a few dings, and the Amazon one came not in a cardboard "box" but one of those fold-up cardboard things that their big hardback strategy guides come in. Also had a few dings. Nothing major.

Hmm.....that's a tempting PM to Best Buy. On the one hand, I love the Halo franchise. On the other, Halo 5 is such a bad game, through and through. I already got the LE with the console (and quickly ruined the Metal Earth thing with my dumb hands), so this is just a question of how much I would want that honking statue that signifies the game that might have disappointed me more than any other in my life.

But it's a deal.

 
Got my Bravely Second from Amazon. Came in a cardboard envelope and had a small dent on the bottom. Nothing too crazy and not worth complaining over.

I like mine. It seems pretty solid and it's one of the bigger CE statues that I have. Fits in with my Halo 3 and Halo: Reach statues pretty well.

The damn box is huge as hell, though. When I picked mine up at Best Buy back when it came out, people in the store thought I was getting the bundle with the console.

 
Both my Bravely Seconds CE from BB came in separate boxes in perfect condition... now to return one and see if I actually wanna keep the 2nd... Dunno why they sent me 2... :whistle2:k

 
This is late but people who were upset about not selling the Gwent decks... Should be grateful they aren't the ones who bought it at the ridiculously inflated price... :(

Lol I'm pretty sure every CE has popped back up at retailers after release due to cancellations. Even COD Juggernog Editions came back FS shortly after release day. One sign that's already apparent as to why this will not be like Dark Souls II level common is the fact that Bestbuy put their remaining ones up on ebay, either that or you have the OMS order it. If it's really common, BB will always have it on their website (like Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X, Halo 5 etc.) This is more of MGS V or Fallout Pipboy level CE in terms of rarity, which can be had after release for a few days, then gone.

Many people thought the Pipboy was rare cause it sold out immediately. The reason many people couldn't get them was because scalpers bought a lot of them up hoping to make a huge profit. Now look, you type in Pipboy edition on eBay and there are almost 500 copies listied for them brand new for retail or many below retail. Very rarely are these AAA game CEs rare anymore. I want this Dark Souls 3 CE but I think I might take my chances of it dropping. I've been disappointed so many times of buying a CE on release and it plummeting in price months later before I get a chance to open it.

What irritates me about it is that while Spartan Locke has a swapable head, the head with the helmet doesn't fit in the compartment for the head without a helmet. So I have both on display.

Here's a question. Who do you think offers the best presentation and value when it comes to CEs? I'm on the fence between NISA or Idea Factory. I love statues but I just love the presentation given to both these companies CEs as far as artwork. Plus the extras never seem cheap to me and are always worth the extra money.

Out of all the CEs I've gotten, I thought the Witcher 3 was the best despite being in the higher price range. And that's with or without the Gwent cards that only came with the xb one. It had a big artbook, cool looking necklace, steelbook case, and the statue wasn't made out of cheap plastic.

My amazon BD CE has every corner 100 destroyed/smashed.

My BBY one came in a huge box and is mint condition...first time ever BBY hasnt let me down; and I actually was going to cancel the BBY one but forgot.  Guess I'll return the Amazon one to bby.

(Collector's Editions are just that.  They should be flawless in condition and it doesn't matter if it's just the outer box that is damaged, the outer box is still part of the collectors aspect)

I chalk this discussion up as its a gamble. I've gotten mint and damaged CEs from both BB and Amazon. I'm quite sure that not the same person in each company packs these CEs. So it can be based upon how lazy or attentive each worker is who packs these CEs to package them with or without air bags. Also, the carrier and distance being traveled can factor into this gamble. I received my BD CE today from BB packed in a box with no air bags but still came in mint condition. I'm in Maryland and it came from Ohio. Also the quality of the outer packaging of the CE factors into this gamble. The only company that I feel this should never happen with is GameStop as their company is based around video games and should have the understanding of how many gamers feel about their CEs coming in perfect shape.
 
My BB put the preorder sticker on a regular version of the game. I was worried they sold mine. Luckily it was just in the back, so that means no annoying sticker on my CE :D

Also seems like they are moving from an obnoxiously large yellow sticker to a slightly smaller red one. Progress I guess.

I will say, on the whole, GS tends to be the best at packing CEs. They usually arrive in good condition unless the carrier REALLY goes to town on the package

I agree completely. I just usually have horrible luck with Amazon (my mini BO3 Juggernog box came destroyed like ripped and everything; though they fully refunded me and let me keep it all. So I'm never surprised when my CEs come damaged from them. Same with BBY. They usually don't use air bags, but this time they did. Color me surprised.
 
The box for Bravely Second came damaged from Best Buy for me as well, with a small amount of damage to the art book too. Frustrating. Have never had a problem with Gamestop.

I love statues but I just love the presentation given to both these companies CEs as far as artwork. Plus the extras never seem cheap to me and are always worth the extra money.

I think NISA and IFFY do a great job as well. The best CEs I got though were the Black Rock Shooter and Fate Extra CCC CEs with the Figmas, but those were never released in the states. For one in the US, I would have to pick the Blazblue Chronophantasma CE (Which is still available! For cheaper!) It included an artbook/poster/soundtrack/bluray, and an adorable mini-Rachael figure. The box it was in was really nice too, and all for only $80.

I feel like the CE statues are hit and miss, I mean even the Course MKX Scorpion one I feel is kinda cheap, and the Killzone 3 Helghast action figure and bust also seemed poor quality. I prefer usable items like the CoD Ghosts Camera, but no way would I have paid $200 for it. In the end, I feel like artbooks and soundtracks are the best idea, you can't really screw that portion up.

Another great one just came to mind, the Catherine CE. Bunch of usable goodies inside as well.

 
So my Bravely Second that i pre-ordered for store pickup at BB not got shipped to the store.  I guess mine was the only order and i had to cancel it in store.

Good thing i have a backup coming from Amazon but i am really wondering what BB screwed up for not shipping it to the store.

You sure it wasn't shipped to the store, but accidentally sold to another customer?

Btw, I would complain, try to get a gift card or something. I mean, you drove all the way out there for nothing, that's time and gas.

My Amazon BD just came in via UPS, pretty much perfect condition and the box was sized to fit the box perfectly.  Its nice living close to the major amazon DC, it only takes 2 "stops" to go from dropoff to my house and it was sent last night so didn't have to go cross country or anything like that.

 
Lame, got two Bravely second's from best buy that i preordered today.  One in a bubble mailer and one in a box.  One was damaged, and no Agnes figure either.  

 
I did store pickup for my bravely @ BB. It is near perfect. Slight imperfection in one of the corners. The guy that works there knows me and was extra careful with it. I thanked him for treating it like a newborn. Of course amazon shipped my full price copy before I could get home to cancel it. Guess I'll have 2 of it. Is there a preorder bonus b/c I didn't get a register receipt or an email with anything. Was this one of those $10 preorder titles?
