Official Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories Thread
How do you capture, do you just throw them on the panel?
you just throw them into your base panel. If the combined levels of the characters in your base panel are greater than the level of the monster you threw in, you win and 'capture' the monster. If the monsters level is higher, he kills all the characters still in your base panel and the base panel itself blows up and cant be used for the rest of the map.

Mine came yesterday. Really good so far!
They really changed how guns work (Range, Tri Shot, etc.) and such. But I think I like it more though.
Except I don't think it's as funny as the first one, as I really don't like Adell.

Hmmmm.. it seems kinda pointless to constantly lvl up since the bonus you gain from weapons and items outweight the lvl stats for exp due to the large bonus percentage.

1.Charater Bonus:
Majin-120% all stats
Space Knight-120% int/sp/tk/def

2.Lover Specialist-25% bonus(on certain classes or monster units)

3.Rarity of Zero-gain additional 30% boost

4.Equip Match rarity items of normal/rare/legendary
2 set-10% boost
3 set-20% boost
4 set-30% boost

If you also calculate the lvl of equipment,8 specialist slots for each legendary equipment that a big stat boost.I have a million int stats just on equipment.I didn't even bother adding extra lvl on equipment. It so annoy finding 7 monster or fortune tellers in mystery rooms.

Right now,I'm trying to boost up char strong enough to beat land of carrange baal prinny.

ugh.... Im soo dead this morning. I was up half the night stuck in item world and didnt get to sleep till late. I wish you could save inside item world. This workday is gonna suck.

2 40+
1 30+
3 20+

and it destoryed my base monster popped out with 1 hp

about getting stuck in item world. how can you get stuck in item world. ALWAYS bring an exit with you. I know it sucks but if your short an exit take a weak item into I tem world and work up to level 10 to get an exit : )

Simliar to all other NIS games, you can't capture human units or units you can't create yet.You can only capture monster units. If you ignore this rule of thumb, the base panel will always be destroy no matter how high your lvl is

I knew the humanoids thing, but are you sure about not being able to capture units you cant create yet? I thought that was how you got new monsters to appear in the character creation section. Do do they just show up there when you beat a few of them?

I had a eMeR.GENCY exit on me, but I was trying to get to the dark gate and get my felonies before I shut down for the night. I eventually got to level 10 and beat the item boss and then I left off for the night. I'll get the felonies tonight after work.

Im stingy with my Gency's like that. =p

Finally beat the last battle in chapter 12. Had to bring my mages from like level 15 to 50, but I beat it. Now I'm having fun with 13-2, and it's floor with Enemy Boost x3 and No Lifting. It makes it a long slow crawl to where the Geo Symbols are. Plus some of the enemies now pack a punch. Can't wait to see how this ends though. I wasn't too big on the story at first, but it picks up BIG time as the game goes on.

I beat the game, for real this time... wow, 'Zenon' was a damn pushover compared to Lamington in D1. And after all of that, you find out Roz is Zenon the whole time. Flashback to the opening scene. It wasn't a mistake: they DID summon Zenon after all, doh... I still prefer part 1 to this. This might have fared better WITHOUT the Disgaea moniker. As it stands, it's 'another NI game, featuring Etna, Laharl, and Flonne.. with the other standard crew'. This felt like Alundra 2: same name but the cast is different.

Man I popped this in after finally getting it today and had to wrench myself away from the tv after completing 5-1. Adell is no Laharl but I'm enjoying this crack on a disc quite a bit

I know this might be a dumb thing to say but i would like to know if it is a good idea to buy the disgaea 1 reprints off of atlus.com. my copy is preaty beat up and it might be good to go for a new copy but im not sure.

Dunno if they still have it (their store is down right now), but yeah... with a game like this that's getting more and more expensive, you don't want to find out that your copy is kinda fucked up and not be able to do anything about it. Preemptive strike -- go get a new copy while you still can.

i think im just screwing this game up more and more. I refuse to play the game but keep staying in item world

Time played 24 hours

Main person level 104
next 3

level 78 skull mage
level 60 ninja
level 50 something

and i havent even started chapter 4 on the first walk though

im finding it more fun to keep doing item world junk then play the game LOL

Its not a big deal, your just gonna breeze thru the main game at record speed if you do decide to play it. You'll spend more time watching the cut scenes and catching up on the story that you will actually fighting.

I messed around in item world till Adell was level 70-something, and everyone else was around 60ish, and the last few chapters were a breeze for me. At level 100+ you may be able to solo thru the main story.

This game is starting to get boring.I can't stand any more of level grinding or getting max specialists. For every two hours I play,it feels like 7 hours of torture.I think I'm going to move on and start playing Okami once it comes out.Currently,my disgaea record is closing close to 100 hours and my space mage have 6 million in intelligence when it reaches lvl 9999.

i doubt i will breeze though the main story since i opened up the dark world and i think someone said some of the chapters your TOSSED Into dark world on the spot.

ALSO they made this game way too easy to get items. Go to item store and buy a high price item then take that item to ITEM WORLD and you will get tons of high price items for FREE

I got this armor suit with like Defence of 700 for 12 million gold. I take it into item world and by the time i leave item world

I got 4 weapons of 500+
i got 2 pieces of armor of 500 to 800

these would cost me around 50 million to buy in store.

item world is just too easy

You'll be fine as far as the Dark World is. As long as it's your first time doing the level (aka doing the story version), you cannot be pulled into the Dark World. It's if you come BACK into the level a second time and complete the objective (and it's an auto-pull-in level) can you get screwed. So you can still breeze through the story.

you don't have to worry about the dark world so much,it only occurs when you revists the stages.on first time, you will never enter the dark world.I know this for sure because i try this out on my second playthrough.

FYI,item worlds get much tougher once you visit the land of carnage.Enemies are 10 times stronger than regular item world and have random geo symbols built in characters. Also, those items you mention arn't that great and laughable comparing to a rank 40 items.A non lvl up super robo armor has about 4000 defense and 1000 on all other stats. If you properly built your rank 40 item with lvl 200,and 8 stat increasing specialist while lvling it up you can get at least 25k on one stats, not to mention the class, lvl, rarity, specialist, lover's and set bonus you get a huge boost. My lvl 1 space knight has over 7k int just wearing the equipment and I only have one lvl 200 item with one max out specialist. It's a huge pain in the ass lvling up a item to lvl 200 because it requires lots of time, luck and reset.

i would be in the land of carnage if i can find the last stupid map LOL

I pickpocketed this sweet armor off a pirate in item world last night. It had a defense of like 3500. And in that same item world another pirate came and had this amazing sword on him called 'Excaliber' but my chance to steal it was only 1% so i couldnt get it, =(

I really should get a good thief so I can actually steal good equipment. I'm stuck just buffing the crap I have to be a little better than average cause I don't have someone to steal some of the insane shit. I think my next thing I should do is start leveling my thief, since she's only level 1...

I love my thief! I give her a pistol, and some shoes. At the beginning of the stage I scope out all the enemies for good items, and then I try to manuever my thief to them on the first turn, by throwing her right from the base, so she can still move when she lands. Then I go behind the enemy and put em to sleep. Then on the next turn I start trying to pinch the item I want. Every third turn I can put em back to sleep if Im not done stealin from them yet. Once I have the item I dont care if my thief gets killed, cos shes not really effective in combat. Actually alot of her missions end up being suicide missions, lol.

You should really do Neko trick,it definatly speed things up and upgrade them with golems or wing dragons in item world. Some might call it cheating, but I rather do that than wasting 10-15+ extra hours lvling.

I started to do the Neko trick, I have about 5 Nekos , ranging from level 200ish up to about 800ish. But their kinda boring, and I really like the other characters more. I use the Nekos when I need backup, but I want to concentrate on the other characters primarily.

I just beat this game last night, last game I have beat since 2001 I think when ever Hitman 2 came out. But Iam not done yet started playing Dark World and I really some how want to beat Prinny Baal

Right now I am hooking my team up in Item World. I got a level 5500 Neko that I pickpocket the hell out of everyone! Ive got Majin & Infernal armor for everyone, and most of my monster characters have Satans Motors.

The best place Ive found to get stuff is from the monsters in the green mystery portals. If you go in there and its a store selling stuff, or the luck guy, check out the items on the shopkeeper, they usually have great stuff. If you talk to them over and over, you can sometimes goad them into a fight. Then use your best pickpocket to pinch the items you want and then kick their ass and win the fight. Ive gotten the best stuff from the prinny that sells cellphones, he always has great items on him.

Majin are tremendously nerfed in this game. The negative outweight the postives.Sure, they have 120% proficency on all stats, high base stats,S rank on all weapons and decent character ability:doubles all damage your parties 9 members are eliminated, but with no lovers, low proficency in group attacks, low movement and gain so little xp from battle I rather use a space knight.Space Knight is better in offensive catagory due to lovers and hell lot easier to lvl up.
