OFFICIAL DS Dead (or Stuck) Pixel Thread

pumbaa

CAGiversary!
We can get through this guys!!! If you've got dead pixels, post here. I had one blue pixel on my top screen. Ran back to Target and simply traded it back in. Now enjoying DS goodness.

**REMEMBER... ALL THE PEOPLE WHO POST HERE PROBABLY HAVE DEAD PIXELS, DOESN'T MEAN A LOT OF DS'S HAVE DEAD PIXELS... JUST STATISTICS PEOPLE 8) **

Hmm, I'm a little surprised that you could just return it. I have a dead pixel (as opposed to a stuck pixel, which you had). But I think I'll just have to live with it. It's looks almost like a piece of dust on the screen that you can't brush off (since it's inside the screen itself). But you can tell that it goes away depending on what is being displayed on the screen.

I tried to show the lady at Target, and she just looked at me... laughed... and said go ahead and get another one.

Oh yeah. Because one dude on a message board posted such a thing.

If that's enough to damper your enthusiasm, get ready for the PSP reports.

 I'm the guy who had the stuck pixel and it didnt damper me. I mean I'm probably 1 of a very small percentage (of the total million shipped). I wasn't mad about it at all. I started to thread just to see how many other people had it. No biggie.

Fark the PSP, they can take their little card dueling Solid Snake and shove it up their arse for all I care.

This happened on the GBASP too. Not often, but nothing is perfect. If you get one and it has a dead pixel, return it. If you buy one the chances are you won't have to worry about it...

I have a dead pixel. It's bothersome but I don't know if I will be able to return it as the stores may be sold out now. We'll see. :/

Call Nintendo?

I have a stuck red pixel. It's really annoying when the screen is dark. I preordered it from EB. EB said they will put me on a list until the next shipment when I can exchange it. I also had Mario freeze up on me on the first level.

I have a stuck (dead?) white pixel in the middle of the top screen, I'm going to try to go back to BB tomorrow to exchange it, I hope they still have ones left.

similar thing happened to me when the SP came out, i eagerly bought one, saw a couple of bits of dust under the screen as soon as i opened it, waited for EB to get more stock, went and traded it, opened it up MORE DUST than the first unit, had to wait till they got more again, swithced it for another and there 3 specks of dust and i decided to just live with it. I dont' really notice it now but i was soo pissed.
i had a red dead pixel, traded it right back in tho
i got one too but its on the touch screen...its not really a bother so fuck it

Damn, if all you guys have had dead pixels, that really doesn't sound very good. I hope this isn't a big problem.

Did you guys get the dead pixel immediately after turning the screen on, or did it happen after a few hours use?

My other concern is the touch screen. I hope it won't lose sensitivity after using it for a long time.
Try gently massaging the screen over the dead/stuck pixel. GENTLE is the keywork here.
That won't work if it's on the top screen, since it's covered with a hard (glass?) cover. The bottom screen might work, but generally the "massaging" thing is for computer LCDs that are relatively flexible to the touch.

A dead pixel really isn't that big a deal. A stuck one can be annoying though.

can you hit it from the back?
Bam, Nintendo promises they'll fix any pixel problems
Eurogamer Article
this is true.

best thing to do....

is go to nintendo.com

start one of the "My Nintendo" accounts where you register all Nintendo published games and hardware... (remember how we all got the Zelda Discs? and Prime 2 demos?)

register the serials for all your crap... including the DS.

this makes it INCREDIBLY easier when calling nintendo about repairs...
when i swapped my SP... I called them up... made it official... then had to pay to ship it there...

in the process.. they claim to be "replacing certain parts"
but... in reality... its completely obvious that they are just swapping the systems entirely...

so.... i dunno...
good luck with it!

Werent you one of the people who hated Half Life 2 after someone said there was loading? Maybe not?

My DS Also has a stuck pixel on the top left side. It's blue, and on some games it is annoying, and on some it isn't noticeable depending what's on the screen. In Mario it's hardly noticeable, but in Feel the Magic because of the color palette its a little annoying. I called my store and they said they would replace it as soon as they got more in. Not a problem. I think most stores will replace it if you just ask.
