dv8 my lowball auction just caught fire. In a bad way.

As usual, no one reads the rules. So today someone complained about my shipping charges, out of country they are bad but con US I thought was fair. Rather than tell me they are too high and give examples however, he just wants to cancel his bids. Not just one or two either, a good chunk of the auction...

I'm allowed to report him for poor trading right?

Also, I'm expecting shitstorm from the lucky time business, failed experiment is a failure. Bet some people will look at their bids and freak out that they increased by 10% (not knowing that the 10% is actually a discount). I'll probably have to type that explanation out at least 5 more times.

Rules, no one reads them.
 
your shipping is kinda high though...1 game can be shipped via 1st class for $3.50 with DC..and media mail is cheaper than $5...i shipped like 10lbs of guide for liek $6.70...unless your PO is screwing you over

oh and btw...that lucky time thing you got going is already chasing some guys away one some of your stuff

AHA! I have the lumpy ones shipping address in a PM from when I sent the lumpy one the Ryu figure with headband! Now if my stomach decides digesting food is the best course of action, Onechanbara (360) will be shipped tomorrow. Otherwise, Wednesday.
 
A part of me says I don't want to deal with people who don't read... The CAG side says to do whatever gets me closer to my goal...

Lucky Time is built to let people who bid after the first day make harder choices. But yeah, lesson learned, simplicity.

Also, I was off by $1 ($4 1st class) and media mail $6. Is a $1-2 gap on shipping large enough to offset the $20 he bid on not one, but multiple items? Do you guys not charge anything for the packing materials and go with pure shipping rate?

Personally the difference doesn't matter and I've changed it. But REALLY?!

Shrike would be the answer-man on the accountability as the auction has not finished yet.
However, you should consider a better shipping rate as a few above have suggested. I'm actually going to do $3 for the first item and $1.50 each additional for games/DVDs. And remember, that's from Japan!

Depends how I am financially at the time. Sometimes I'll eat shipping, sometimes I'll gouge every penny I can out of it. Really depends. Also depends if I like em, and if they bitched about prices or not. If somebody complains to me, they instantly go on the list. Once on said list, I pretty much don't give a fuck about you. Imagine walking into GameStop, yea. That much care.
 
As far as the Lucky Time thing goes, it seems pointless to me. I mean if you bid on the 1st day, your probably not going to bid a lot, I'd say less then $10 for most normal things, so a 10 cent to 1 dollar difference won't deter someone all that much at the end.

dv8, good idea but $10 says you'll end up SOL. 1) cheap shipping, you lose out 2) expensive shipping, knowing you, will adjust the price to make it reasonable

Anyway, I have adjusted my prices to $4 which is the standard rate I've seen in past lowball auctions for first class under 13oz.

I'm adjusting it to $5-7 media mail which is basically $1.50 more for 3+ items and offering Priority flat rate for $11 (it's 9.70+ DC ish but I have to play Tetris so the dollar is mine)

In short if you do the math, 1-2 games $4, 3+ $5-7, faster shipping +$4. All with DC. Then again there is that Sega Master system and other shapes in there, which will be weird.

I shipped every order no matter the size for $5 last time. I want to make money and give fantastic deals when possible.

I KNEW IT! There was some stuff I was missing that made the original dv8 auction popular.

Also, I can't even ship to Canada for those rates... Last one I sent there was $12.

Yeah. I'd like to eat it but I figure I'm already losing out on some pretty high end stuff. I just wanted to liquidate my backlog and I'll eat that but shipping is another thing.

I ate the shipping in a good portion of cases in my lowball. Part of the reason for this came from being forced to upgrade to Priority due to the weight in some cases. Even ones that were spot on, I still had to pay for a bubble mailer or packaging supplies in most cases. Every package (even ones sent out in two) received a DC # as well. Paying didn't really matter to me though, and I'm not complaining one bit.

I'm just glad about the overwhelming turnout for it, and that people were able to get stuff that I no longer valued for generally cheaper than what they would pay normally.

I don't know if I'm alone on this one, but it also does seem weird to me that your charging extra shipping based on your dislike of work?

I have to stand in line to get all the papers so it will be at least $12.

I dunno, its just I mean its how the auction works, it shouldn't be the buyers fault you have an issue with shipping things. Or I could just be crazy.....that's possible too.
 
Honestly, it's this simple. If he posted shipping rates before they bid, and they still bid, they agreed to it. It's up there with if I put a trading card on eBay for a dollar, and charged $1000 for shipping. If somebody didn't look at shipping rates and just clicked, I laugh at them.

Actually I bought bubble mailers which were not cheap. The international shipping thing is a pain for me because the post office is far and I have to hand it to an employee, the only online version is $12 minimum, and the lines are always long.

If I didn't try my best in this auction, why is there color coding, spoiler tags, pictures, information... Really, did you look at what I explained for the Sega Master System? I'm trying my best, if you guys want to bash on me for International shipping so be it but don't say I won't work. I spent all my Saturday making the post and coming up with ideas how to make it different.

DEZ, don't look down on my work ethic because I'm charging extra for international. I could just blatantly reject international shipping, now that's being lazy.

georox, once again harsh but true.
 
Not a good joke for an Auction. I'm not saying anything bad really, just saying it looked bad to me, from a buyers point of view, cause I'd take it as true, and I'm sure most people don't wanna pay for labor.

Either way that doesn't say you're paying for labor, it states I don't like to go outside.

DEZ I'd rather not fight. Let's just agree I can charge what I want for shipping and that I'm not charging an unreasonable ammount, maybe 50 cents to $2 over actual postage but again it's my choice for whatever reason it may be.

I refer you to the portion about "You did X to make me feel bad and now you should feel bad too". I feel that I adjusted my rates properly earlier and appologize for anything you may not like.

Apologies to the mod as well, but this is hopefully it.

That's ok guys. I guess the best advice I can give is that random guesses will probably end up being the best guesses.

Hey guys, those last posts were guesses for the contest. I responded twice today staying under my 3 bump limit.

When they were having just conversation, I didn't participate and after Pooky told them to stop it seemed that they had... Not sure what was posted in between that was deleted although I'm curious to know.

And apparently we want to break a record on Friday with five simultaneous lowball auctions. I think it could go 3 ways:
1) Everyone logs in at the same time and bids generously
2) Everyone logs in at the same time and runs out of money with no more bids
3) CAG server crashes and no one can log in

Updated first post with what I assume the problem was.
I don't know for certain, as I have not heard from a mod directly, but ItsMeMark PMd me and said that there was some conversation deleted, but also that some people had posted things about shipping. Not sure why shipping comments would have been deleted, but if you shipped me something or I need to ship you something, please post it again so I will know.

This is bump #2 for the day.
 
Ooooh Xenogears. I like the idea of the preview thing ^_^ May have to steal that in the future hehe. We lowball sellers are constantly evolving and borrowing from each other :) Gotta love it.
