Official Goozex Thread - Goozex is Hiring!

So I've been a member of Goozex since 2008, but I've never traded anything. I'm ready now to unleash my backlog to the trading world and wanted to pick up Assassin's Creed:Brotherhood.

Holy wait! You've got to be kidding me that there are over 400 requests for the game and it's only been traded 5 times in a month? By that rate I wouldn't get the game for at least a year.

So I don't have experience with this, but does it usually take 6 months or so for new releases to become available? It makes me not want to trade in these games, then.

Sometimes, yes. Goozex, I have found, is not a place to turn around games quickly. Sometimes it takes a long time to be matched either way. For me it is perfect, since I have a large backlog. When I get a new game, great, if not, no problem. If you need new releases soon after the come out, you would probably be better off with Amazon or Gamestop.

Everybody wants the new releases. You'll always run into a long line for it. If you're after something like that, I would reccomend trying to trade right here on CAG. Just a thought.

Or on GameTZ where you'll have to give up your firstborn and your underage sister.

In all seriousness, Goozex is not set up to get the hot new releases right away. Use it to get cheap older games and even some of the rare games you can't find in town.

When the hell are they gonna lower the price back to $5?

I think they raised it because the new 3 free trade token rule for new members who sign up. I dunno if it's permanent or just a holiday limited bonus.
Got matched for a game and have 50 points and 3 tokens left. Wonder if it's worth putting some stuff up to use all my tokens.
You can always gift me those tokens:lol:

Change to the Goozex system

From the Goozex forums:

"Dear Goozers,

We are announcing a new policy that we believe will help minimize the malicious abuse of the trading system. As of today, users will no longer earn points, under any conditions, before receiving positive or neutral feedback. We are purposely announcing this on the same day of the system change to avoid any attempt to further abuse the points-up-front loophole given to high feedback users. After working on several possible solutions to help minimize scamming activity for a long time, we keep coming back to the root of the problem (often mentioned by other users): points before feedback. In short, we are removing the economic incentive to scam the site.

To many of you, we understand that points-up-front was a great bonus feature for having a high feedback score. We want you to know that the decision was made to help secure the service so that all the great users can continue to have the best trading experience possible on the site.

Thank you for your support and the GTeam will review this thread for your feedback and constructive comments.

GTeam"

This is obviously due to people like jay who have good feedback and decide to go out with a bang. Thanks a lot.

Just discovered this drama. In a nutshell, what were the end results? Those high value games ever reach their destinations?

never trade with n00bs
Just discovered this drama. In a nutshell, what were the end results? Those high value games ever reach their destinations?
No, Jaysapathy never shipped the high value items even though he was told his account would be reinstated once there was proof of shipment. He never bothered to provide that, shockingly, so his account is still suspended. But what does he care, he got games shipped to him for free using points from those "transactions."

Apparently he did ship a 100 pt item to a user that he knew was a regular here on CAG and posted often on this thread. Still, I fail to see how 100 pts shipped and 4300 pts not shipped in any way clears his name. His incentive for shipping the 100 pt item was clearly just to preserve his rep on this website.

I've asked him several times on this thread if he planned to either reimburse Goozex for those points or send the games back to their rightful owners. He never answered, but we all know the answer is neither.

So for the latest change we can thank Jaysapathy, and others like him, who are good traders until they decide not to be...

Not sure what you're asking, but yes, both his username here and on Goozex was "Jaysapathy" and on this thread he admits it was his account.

That's pretty much what I was asking, along with wondering if it was confirmed that he has stiffed multiple people.

Yes, he never shipped any of the high-value items. Check a few pages back on this thread - he said he would not send them, apparently because he was upset that his account was put on hold. I think it is much more likely he never planned to send them, but regardless the answer is that he never held up his end of the transactions.

just another nail in the coffin...

new users got to pay 2 bucks per trade and not get points till they get feedback .... many will stay away

new users not getting points until feedback has been the policy since forever. this just affects the long time users, and it's something I can deal with

Meh... I just got bit by the "points on feedback" change. I have one trade token and 450pts. I am seriously thinking about ending my time with goozex. Its just not as cheap or easy as it used to be.

I generally get quick feedback on Goozex. It's not like eBay, where I ship well-packed items within a day and only a quarter of buyers ever bother to leave feedback. Ingrates.

Ever since all of these "bad changes" happened, I've been consistently getting more requests from me and more games sent to me. Yeah, Goozex really does suck.

The points pending until feedback is left doesn't bother me. If that's what it takes to keep certain people from screwing over others then so be it.

Slidecage is one of the handful that went on a holy war against Goozex on this thread when the price increase was announced. Mylor, he doesn't have time to let the facts get in the way of that!

What's funny is that this directly addresses the thing the slidecage keeps complaining about on Goozex's forums and yet he is still apparently against it.

Damn you Goozex for solving my problem!

Another reason why I firmly believe that the seller should provide a valid confirmation number for Goozex to verify before any points are credited. They should have done that in the beginning when they decided to give points upon confirmation.

I'm glad for the change. There was nothing more annoying than getting a confirmation that the game has shipped a minute after the trade was accepted at 10pm on a Sunday night. I know they can still lie about shipping the game but there isn't as much incentive to do so.

Also, I can't really imagine people complaining, what other trading system allowed you to get credit for your trade before you actually did anything?

Well to be fair , if I (or many others) here or say on GTZ are selling (not trading) a game payment will usually be asked for upfront in many situations. But I understand what you are getting at. I think the points upon feedback is a good change. The points after confirmation would have been fine if , as others have already pointed out , you would have to give a valid confirmation number and not just say you sent out the game.

the issue with DC required(at least what is constantly brought up on the goozex forums) is that DC charges are sky high for Canadians. Requiring it for all would drive away a lot of business from Canadians.

That's true , in which case items going to or from Canada (or other international destinations) could have just defaulted to points upon feedback like the system is switching to anyway? Some of the rules already different for inter-US trading vs international trading , such as 14 days for feedback vs 21 days? Just make this just like that. Not that it matters now anyway.
Not sure what you're asking, but yes, both his username here and on Goozex was "Jaysapathy" and on this thread he admits it was his account.
Not my fault you cannot detect sarcasm. I had no intention of scamming anyone; you yelling "FIRE!" just made it that much easier to leave the site. I am not, nor will I ever be, a scammer. I refuse to debate this any further with you or anyone else, and if you can't let it die, that's your problem, and not mine. This unnecessary drama ends here.

Meanwhile: this announcement doesn't make sense. Think about it: users with lots of feedback are suddenly scamming the site? Why oh why would that be? If a user works hard to earn a high feedback ratio, why suddenly tarnish it when you obviously enjoy the service enough to get your feedback score up? The only thing I can think of is that with all the changes lately, Goozex has a lot of members "going rogue," which tells me not everyone's in favor of all these changes.

Ah well. Won't be missed much, I suppose. I'll wait for the next big one to come along, and get involved in that.

Another thought I'd chime in with another thought of my own on this: the points on feedback, like many other of the new policies, seems to be favoring those who keep high point values in their accounts -- much like a bank favors those with large amounts. If you're not a high traffic-ian, you're a second class citizen.. At least, that's what I'm getting from all of this. Definitely catering to the high rollers, and that seems to be a partial voice in the Goozex thread about it. *shrug*

Still on the fence as to whether or not I like this change. Was annoying in the fact that I don't check the forums often so I was sitting there with 900 points thinking I could just get instant points when I wanted another game. Though one of my pet peeves was goozexers who confirm shipped just to get the instant points; I never confirmed shipped until I saw the first tracking update.

Most the negatives I've had to give out are to the people who try and hold up the next person in queue by making phony accounts.

Definitely not trying to maintain the 8,000 point or so pool I had for a while anymore. Was happy having 1,000 - 2,000 so having to micromanage more closely is going to be my biggest gripe. In retrospect I probably should have been doing that already, tend to spend my points frivolously.

Then again games are actually going to start coming out again so there's going to be plenty of opportunities to flip $20-$25 game finds for new releases if I actually stay up for new release queue time.

Dunno how 10 p.m. feels like a chore to me now, guess I'm getting old. :cold:

wrong i said first time you #$##$ someone over you get a warrning or a 2 week ban
2nd time you do it your ban for life

look at the handheld market that has dried up and i dont think a newer game has been on there for weeks if not months

No, you were complaining about people "fake" sending games and ripping off points, in your case 1200 points. So now Goozex closes the exact loophole you were talking about and you still complain. But I should follow my own advice and not try to reason with you, because GOOZEX IS TERRIBLE NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!!
Meanwhile: this announcement doesn't make sense. Think about it: users with lots of feedback are suddenly scamming the site? Why oh why would that be?
Because a user is upset with their recent price increase. Maybe they would even announce that they are leaving the site first. Hey, didn't you do that!?
Of course not everyone is in favor of it. So your argument is that because your brethren people that scam the site aren't in favor of the change, that shows that Goozex made the wrong decision? Mind if I borrow your eye-roll?

Seriously jay, your reasoning all throughout has been laughable. ("I tried to sell a games that go for $60-$100 on amazon but they just wouldn't sell, so I decided to ship them out without a confirmation number on the website I declared I was leaving! Honest!"). No one is buying it.

All you have to do, and all you've ever had to do, is ship out the items that you agreed to and just like that your name is cleared. Are you going to do that?

I think we need to tone things down a bit in here, and let's keep the personal attacks out of the equation. If there's an issue, that's a point for discussion, though keep it professional and not devolve things into personal attacks.

Whaddya know. A giant asshole has either forgotten or refuses to leave feedback for a game that was delivered a week ago.

This is yet another reason why I have removed every single thing from my active want list except for the one item (Ikaruga) I want and that I have enough points for. It will be my last 400-450pts and my last token. I will keep my account open in case they decide to go back to $1.00 Tokens.

I've been extremely dissatisfied with the service over the past six months for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I have not had a game sent to me in 11+ months even with rotating in and out about 15-25 games and DVD's at a time.

Also, I had an issue with a trade cancellation and whomever responds to the help email pretty much is refusing to help me out after numerous requests and a month of messages back and forth. I'm definitely annoyed with the service and have gone from recommending it to coworkers/friends to steering them clear due to poor customer service.

Lastly, their values are rarely market-driven and titles stay overvalued for far too long.

I have many trade credits and points just wasting away waiting for a match. It seems like they really enjoy taking my money while giving me very little in return!
jug were they a new user? Did you try to pm a mod on Goozex about it?
Nah. They have around 40 trades each way. I'm not real pissed. But Goozex has always made me inpatient. I use it to get games that are hard to get on CAG and so they take forever on Goozex as well. I really just want the feedback so I can get my points and stop going to goozex and be happy when one day I get an email saying Ikaruga is in the mail.

Yet another wonderful change at the site that is trying to figure out ways to stay alive.

As usual, don't keep a ton of points in your account because as we all saw today, they can change things in a moments notice.

Let me guess, Gizmo is complaining about changes made on a site he allegedly doesn't use anymore and is bloviating about how Goozex is doomed. I'm so glad he's on my ignore list.
