if the better players are not going to be playing clan matches and it's pure practice then there should be no VIP room with all the good players. The better "well known" players should break up and host their own rooms and show the kids the ropes.

You're right, and we're addressing the problem as we speak. If more than 16 people are on next practice, the staff players will split and form seperate rooms. This will work, as long as there is no ninny-hammering along the lines of, "But I want to be in the other room."
"But I want to be in the other room."
Anyone who thinks/says that deserves to be kicked out of the clan right now

I couldn't help but feel like a shithead leaving the practice game earlier. I think you're right Rock; as much fun as the clan matches are, practice nights are there for a reason.

The biggest problem I see (other than the above) is the fact that so many people show up for practice now. While this isn't a bad thing in itself, it makes things a bit hard in terms of organizing solid rooms.
We should have about 4-5 "elites" in each room guiding the teams and players. We need to think of some training methods also. We need to have some more of those weapon specific training matches

Along with anyone who says, "But I'm too good to play with the CAG noobs."

-BigC-, I'm looking in your direction.

Oh yea i forgot to mention that I have just become soooo good compared to everyone in this clan, I relized im too good to play with the CAG noobs, nonetheless any other CAGs because you guys are soooo not in my league.

JK! please dont cut me for those statements
!

joking! I got my communicator working, so you can allll sleep easy tonight! ^__^
Thank you for that. I had been losing sleep lately, wondering whether or not you would ever check your dashboard settings and see that you had voice turned "OFF"!

GODDAMN. Zewone, murc, Jimmie, and a few other are still playing. They are tearing everyone apart! They beat a level 11 clan a moment ago. Keep up the good work guys.

We didn't lose after you left until that last match where we were destroyed.

We bumped our rank 2 spots in both minor and major clanmatches. It was honestly the most fun night of playing I've had so far.

As for the "too many people" issue, I think we should set aside a different night for clan matches and such. I just don't want it to be called "elite" practices because it feels like we'd be distancing the rest of the clan.

i am slowly getting better at team skirmish, but i guess i really need to work on my slayer abilities, if anyone is going to be on tonight at about 2:00 EST and wants to try and help me out with slayer, be my guest.

also i'd like to thank ryan, jimmie, and greendj for sniper practice the other night. that helped me out greatly.

now if i could only get on when more clan members are on.

Edit: Quick question, where is the camo on Zanzinbar(sp)? I saw a guy using it today and was like where'd he get that.

Is anyone interested in getting on for practice before the official 9:30 CST practice on Tues & Thurs? I am in NC and it is hard for me to stay up and practice later than say 10:30 CST (11:30 EST). There seemed to be a quite a few of us on early last night.
I'm not suggesting we move practice or anything, maybe a few of us could start a little earlier and then join everybody at 9:30 and drop off as some of the Late Night crew joins. The more CAG practice as teams the better!

Just a thought

I gotta agree with Led, last night we were putting on some serious hurting, even out ranked and out numbered a couple games, points were un-answered. I don't wanna hang myself on this one but I had more fun last night than I have had in awhile on XBL and really want to take that same group of people in on more matches in the future. I do want to reinforce the idea though of using Proximity Speak to fool your opponents, this goes for everyone even if you aren't in bigger clan matches. I can think of about 5 times last night on Headlong when me and jimmiemac came in at the bottom and I started yelling into the headset to bring the bomb in from the top that we caught the other team with their pants down. I mean so bad that I walked up one after another and shotgunned four guys in a row who were all looking up at the top including a rocket guy. Jimmie planted the bomb and we had a point 30 secs into the round. I really hated leaving when I did but I needed sleep and although I know people are suggesting Wednesday as a "Clan Team" night I was thinking how hard would it be to swing it to a weekend night where most of us could play a little later?

I like that idea. Starting practice at 10:30 when I usually go to bed kills me the next day when the alarm goes off at 5:00. On Tuesdays I can usually play from 7:30 - 9:00 Eastern. Maybe this way the rest of us can get in some ranked team matchmaking (not clan matches) so we can increase our skill and ranking in something other than rumble pit. Usually when I'm on there are only a couple of other CAGers doing there own rumple pit thing too.

Did anyone get kicked off XBL last night? I did twice. I'm trying to figure out if it was my ISP or the XBL service. I had no lag, but all of the sudden the screen would freeze up and the dash would try to go to "troubleshoot network". Well the network checked out and I was able to sign back on,but I lost my spot in practice.

I think my PC was dl'ing some pretty big files last night. Can that affect your XBL connection?

My two cents.
We had a crowd of people last night. Maybe instead of identifying two days as practice days why not have every night be practice night? Each staff member could have one assigned night to run the practice(maybe some would have two) and clan members would be encouraged to make at least two practices a week. Also in helping new members maybe some of our better players could do a class. In the class they could walk the new guys through some tactics than maybe do some scrimming.

Yeah, they could be causing you to max out your bandwidth and create a bottleneck.

That's a good idea. I know the first couple of practice games I was in, I felt like I was riding the coat tails of the more experienced. Now that I am more familiar with the maps and tactics, I feel like I actually make a contribution.

Could someone fill me in on how clan matches work...like who plays in them...who decides when and against who?

Last night, I showed up for practice and didn't see much in the way of practice.

Tried to jump into games that Ledhed sent invites for and couldn't get in, as it was full with matchmaking matches. Ended up stumbling into a room with most of the clan, and a few non-clan members, Mooky's roommate for one, and a few random people I didn't know for others.

Problem is, all the people who would have made rooms as staff were in that same game, so that sort of nullified the idea of practice.

This isn't to say that the group in that room shouldn't have been playing, it's more that all the staff was in there, kicking ass and taking names. Kudos to them for doing so well.

After a few games with not a lot of clanmates, I decided it was time to call it a night early, so I did.

Reading the "Unauthorized Halo 2 Guide" was more insightful than last night's activites for practice & training.

I am glad to see that you guys are already working on this.

I'm not saying that you guys are responsible for me having a good time or anything. In fact, I have really enjoyed the practice sessions, and have felt that I have improved because of them. In short: I am appreciative that you all are making the effort.
Could someone fill me in on how clan matches work...like who plays in them...who decides when and against who?
Basically, Staff players need to be present for Clan games, be it Major or Minor. The current staff are:

Rocksolidaudio
Zewone
Me
Murcielago
Arikado

ONLY clan members can play Clan games, and you can't mix and match teams and players. It's one clan vs another clan. Minor Clan games play just like Team Slayer and Team Skirmish. Major Clan games play just like Big Team Battle. The only difference is, instead of having an individual rank during these games, the rank you see is the Clan rank, which will fluctuate accordingly with your performance, just as your individual stats do. You also can't pick a team to play against; you simply go into clan matchmaking, and a team is picked for you.

I'd like to reemphasize that NOONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES should ever play a Clan match without at least one Staff member present, preferably two.

As for who plays in a Clan match, it's going to be our absolute best players. I know we like to play around and have fun, but Clan games are not a joke. Please don't think that you have to be anywhere near as good as our top players; if you play with us alot and prove your meddle and reliability, than you'll get the chance to play, I promise. If you can't get your game together though, sorry. We need our best and brightest during a Clan game; it's that simple.

Again, I apologize to whomever couldn't find a room last night. All the staff players (including myself) pulled a pretty shitty move and basically turned practice night into Clan match night. Granted, we did well, but it shouldn't be at the cost of everyone else's time and fun. I promise it won't happen again. Rock and the staff players are all trying to think of ways to better organize practice when we have a huge turnout as we did last night. It's by no means easy, but it shouldn't be.

Also, a couple of players have brought to my attention that some people (I'm not going to say any names) were experimenting with exploits last night. I'm not talking the relatively harmless exploits like the "Flag-Thru-The-Floor" trick; I'm talking "Bungie-sees-it-and-bans-you-or-us" exploits.

I'm only going to say ths once: If a Staff player finds out you've been using cheats during practice or during games played with fellow clan members (be it Matchmaking, Custom, Clan matches, etc.) you're gone. I don't care who you are, what your stats are, or how integral you are to the team. You cheat, and that's it. Have a nice life outside of our clan.

Forgive me for sounding like John Q. No-Fun, but I'm dead serious. NO CHEATING.

I just wanted to add that I think you guys are doing an excellent job running the clan and that I really appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into its organization.

Led, i'm coming up on my 2 month free trial. since i have a stack of 2month trials, i'm gonna use em up. Will i be able to keep my place in the clan when i change my tag?

The guide shrike is talking about is basically a multiplayer-centric strategy guide. It's a pretty good read, especially if you feel unfamiliar with the game's nuances. You should be able to find it anywhere that sells the normal strat guide.

And yes, when you make your new tag, just let us know what it is and we'll re-invite you.

Please add me to clan again. I was inactive due to family reasons. I will not be away for such a long period again.

Thanks Again,

If we're lucky, the BEST case scenario for that is Bungie getting the person in question tossed. In the WORST case scenario (and the most harsh), they toss the WHOLE CLAN out the door, at least the members on the team who were part of the cheaters' party, if not all of us.

Anyone want to explain to me how they'd make it up to the entire clan if we're not able to play online? No, didn't think so.

If you think that cheats are something you should try and see how they work, go do it on someone else's time and XBox. I'm not getting tossed because someone thinks their skills need a little help from an exploit in the code. I know I'm not top-ranked among the clan, and the only way I'm going to do better is to work at it and practice. There's no shortcut in this process, cheating is cheating. And if caught, bare minimum, you're gone. Worse off, I'm gone by association with you. And I'm sure as heck not going to enjoy not being able to play online.

If you cheat and think you're just experimenting, think again. Don't do it. Don't think about it, don't say "I'm just trying to see how it works", simply don't do it. Code exploits are serious issues that Bungie is working to fix and ones they take VERY seriously with their flagship product. Some morons think that they're l33t in using them, they're just deluded.

Think long and hard before you decide to do something on an "experiment" that has much larger implications than just

Exactly. Remember, every move you make online is tracked and recorded. Bungie knows what to look for in regards to cheats. It's pretty damned obvious when flag caps happen instantly and don't have a route. And if you do it during PRACTICE, well that just makes it look like we're ALL doing it. It looks as though we are there for the express purpose of practicing the damn thing.

Zero tolerance folks. Do it and you're gone. I refuse to be associated with cheaters, and will not be brought down with them when the uppins come.

You may want to add something about this on the OP and/or the clan website, so there is no misunderstanding.

Also, if you guys need any assistance with Clan related activities, let me know, I would be glad to help.

I refuse to be associated with cheaters as well, just in case you didn't get the point from my post above.

Anyone that gets me tossed offline because of "guilt by association", you will be buying me a new XBox, a new copy of Halo 2 CE and a new XBL subscription, since the items above now would be made quite useless. Get the hint?

Outside the Clan Matches the staff was doing, Me and Strike had a draft and I picked some real winners on my team. All you guys who played with me, you rock....cause honestly they had Arkido and Darkkight.....and we were owning so bad they had players migrating to My team.

You saw right there, how....no matter how good they are...you work as a team and you dominate.

Consider THAT practice.....whether or not what the staff was doing, you learned a valuable lesson....

(cheesy saying in 3, 2, 1...) TEAMWORK is the KEY!

We worked as a team and we dominated....I dont think they scored once out of the 4-5 games we played.

Not saying they sucked....cause they had some awesome players....but they werent organized.

As far as the Staff goes.....you guy just rock...that's why you win all the time now...sorry I couldnt join you. ;-)

We were pwned because we didn't have any strategy. Didn't score once and we didn't deserve to with the horrible gameplay we had out there. I tried to push some ideas forth in our matches for strategy and it simply didn't happen. We had people on my team talking offensive strategy when we were on defense and they weren't doing much on defense.

CheapyD himself jumped teams because of the chaos and I couldn't blame him one bit.

Mooky said it right. We didn't suck because we were bad, we sucked because we didn't have a cohesive plan. And rightfully, we did suck because of it.

I certainly took a few items to heart on those games.

Not to say teamwork isn't important, but more important is to have really cool matching, but not same color, icons with sweet background colors. Once we get those we will be unbeatable, just like everyone we played last night. And cheers to SgtSlapAHoe, he was a brave man and went down shooting.....and slapping.

This is what I was talking about:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?isbn=1592007007&nrd=1

I picked it up, with the Official Halo 2 guide for under $26 from Amazon. Had to bump it up to over $25 for the free shipping, and the official guide seemed like a good idea.

The box looked like it was in one of our matches when it arrived. All beat to hell. Books survived without any issues, thankfully.

In the waterworks match I think i was in some kind of vehicle 90% of the match and I either had the most or second most kills. I know I must have irritated a few folks with my wraith whoring. I swear give me a vehicle and my skill jumps 300%. Anyways i was glad to be on the side causing frustration not getting it for once. but I had a blast i could do that everynight
I know I must have irritated a few folks with my wraith whoring.
Concerning the wraith (specifically getting someone out of it), is there anything you can do when you jump on the back and the enemy is driving...other than get a free ride. i usually jump off and try to wraith jack again and hope to get frontside and eject the driver.

I really think the best way to down a wraith is to go find the rockets and make him eat them. If someone boards me i usually just drive up to a wall and shoot which usually kills them if I do it in time

If your on the back throw a grenade. It will kill them faster than melee kills. Also melee hits don't work when your on the back.

Concerning jumping on the back of a wraith you can disable it by repeatedly hitting the melee button 'B', until the panel breaks off and place a grenade on/in it with the 'Left Trigger'. Now the only issue is you must have grenades to be able to do this :?
