your first time through you should fight The End. IT is a really cool battle, and probably the best in the game. I only skipped it because I am trying to collect all the camo and face masks (have missed a couple faces, but got the majority of the camo)

if you still want to know, at the end of the riiver there is a pathway to the left. You tranq the two guards and the SVD is in the shed. Once acquired, head to the base of the river, after the cutscene line up your shot and shoot him. Be sure to watch out for the wheel from the wheelchair though
 
i was just wondering. I just defeated the pain and he was really easy. Really no strategy involved. I LOVE OCELOT. He keeps getting cooler and cooler.

when you end up fighting him for his camo, he is much harder.

What the hell do I do when I go into the building where I have to dress as a scientist? I can't find Soklov anywhere!

on the first floor near the back of where you entered, there is a door that leads into the lobby. You take the stairs down (B1 West is their name). After this you run down the hall and past all the scientists (they will cause alerts on you so use your cigar smoke if you have it). Towards the back of this room is a door, and one of the best cutscenes of the game



Didn't want to ruin it for anyone else. Make sure you go to the second floor bathroom and kick down the door on the right. It will give you the Fly camo which will keep guards away with its rancid scent.


EDIT: If you need anymore help. About to beat the game for the second time and will continue to play it non stop. I pretty much remember where everything is as well
 
Finished the game a second time. I am going to play it again though as I am missing a few camo's and need a few masks (exp. the alligator hat)
 
i don't know if anyone here knows this, but Kojima himself will be at the EB at Universal Citywalk signing copies of this game. I saw the flyer at my local EB.

Big news indeed. I can't make it, though. I have school.
 
I think everyone is forgetting the best part of this game... The Snake Vs. Monkey minigame. 2 of the best series cleverly rolled up into one game. Brilliant. I heart MGS3

I just beat this game and all I can is wow! I don't think its possible to understand how great of a game it is until the very end. I love MGS3. Major improvment over 2.

Yep, I did. Kojima let me down big time with MGS2, but he came back great with Snake Eater. Camera problems keep it from being as great as it could be, but everything else was awesome.

you know you can use R3 to manuver the camera better and then hit it again to lock it in place?

Yeah, I used that a lot. What I mean is if the camera could rotate like Splinter Cell it could have saved me from going to 1st-person view so much, but its still cool the way it is.
 
man today is the 2nd day in a row I havent played this,

and tomorrow may be the 3rd...

holiday weekend followed by last week of school followed by finals week...

Going for his camo is so damn hard and I never found the thermal goggles so I had to use my own peepers making pretty hard.

they are in the locker in the room you meet Sokolov/ Eva. You can get them right after the Ocelot crew starts to attack
 
i must say i may not give this game a repeat like i did with mgs2. Im not into the gameplay as much as i was in the first and second. I really think the camera just doesnt work for the outdoor stuff seeing how its more open. Im sometime run into a gaurd and not even know till i hit him. I just am loving the story right now. Its so awsome. Its problaby the only reason im still playing but its been worth 45$ that i spent. I still need to beat gta but ill beat this first then go back.

I can understand hating the camera, but your second time through you will remember where everyone was.
 
Hey I just beat the game too. Anybody unlock the stealth camo yet?(You need to find all 64 frog and shot them). Also for The End battle you could also down a fake death pill for some frre hits if your going for the camo.
 
I went into an almost uncontrollable rage yelling b-bombs a-bombs c-bombs when I saw the mask. I feel bad now calling Kojima those names considering how good this game turned out to be. Easily better than 1 and 2. 1 was too short, and didn't have enough extras. 2 had a way too complex story, and had raiden. But 3 is lengthy, has the best bosses in the series, the most extras in the series, and has the best story, IMO. Don't listen to Gamespot's review. The difficulty is hard, and you do have to use CQC. Metroid Prime 2 will be 20 in a few months, so definetely get this.

Um.. the cowboy part. I saw this cowboy in History channel who could do it if not better, as good as Ocelot. He didn't make it look as gay though.

And what the fuck is up with the spoilers? Im sure there's many people here who didn't get up to that part.
 
Damn mousin - do you love spoiling every game? First Half Life and than this. And I thought Ocelot was a doucebag when he first came out, but by the end I thought he was a badass.

I just fought ocelot for the first time yesterday.

I wish I would of know about the camos and the tranq gun.

I shot him with my regular hand gun and missed the camo.

So far the game is excellent I will be playing some more tonight. How long did the first run go for the few that finished it. I've played for about five hours really just trying to get a feel again for the series and messing around with curing, hunting and eating.

My favorite moment so far has been Eva (R1) and Ocelot. My personal favorite was at the base with the chopper and the mini guns . . .

I tranqed the guard at the gun. While he was sleeping another guard noticed him and came to revive him. This alerted two other guards and the three went over the the body. I threw a Grenade right dead center in the middle and watched as they all freaked and then got blown up. One guy flew right next to me. Classic
 
I thought the best part of MGS3 was the Shagohod. I really enjoyed that with Eva driving the motorcycle while you shoot the soldiers and then the Shagohod. And I thought Ocelot was cool in the game. Damn he was obsessed with Snake.
 
Beat the game yesterday and it was one of the best PS2 games I've ever played. Only thing I have to do now is beat those monkey missions.
 
I finished the game yesterday, and I started a continued new game. I wanted to make the difficulty hard but there was no option for it. I saved to see if it just goes up a level automatically but it said "NORMAL". By the way I got the rank shark, what'd you guys get?

Oh and it took me 25 hours to beat the game. I'm a pretty decent gamer so I don't think I was too slow.

Oh yeah and question about the frogs, do you have to shoot them only once or until they stop making the noise?

I think they unlock stealth camo if you shoot all of them (it is something big, like the stealth camo, it may be infinite ammo, I cannot quite remember)


before you tackle shooting everyone though, check an FAQ and make sure someone found the one in Sokrovenno North. There was a lot of controversy over that one as the guide had it wrong, and no one could find it
 
i beat it in 14 hours on easy and got crocodile ranking. How do you get the gun that the Boss had? I started a new game and played about 3 hours but there is no Boss' gun or Revolver.

you get it in your inventory from the start. It is called the patriot
 
ok, so how hard and how long is "the end". I just got to him and they keep telling me its going to be a grueling battle. I kinda would like a hint too. If I use the dir. mic do i hear him breathing? And if that is him breathing do i need to go around behind the breathing noise? On a side note, this game is truly incredible. It even tops the metal gear psx.
