OFFICIAL MGS THREAD (JUST STOP POSTING IN THE OTHERS)
ok, so how hard and how long is "the end". I just got to him and they keep telling me its going to be a grueling battle. I kinda would like a hint too. If I use the dir. mic do i hear him breathing? And if that is him breathing do i need to go around behind the breathing noise? On a side note, this game is truly incredible. It even tops the metal gear psx.
Use the thermal goggles and use your map to look for his possible sniping points. The dir. mic does help. Just look for him through your scope.

this game was better than the first for me. Ocelot beats liquid for my all-time favorite boss. Love the hand gesture he does.

Which gesture?

on a side note,

I found this while browsing the GameFAQs MGS3 message board. Its the main theme that someone recorded on their guitar. I thought it was really cool

Dude I just punked "the end" out by chasing him around with the thermal vision and shotgun. He got a few licks on me but I just kept eatin. Now I am in the mountains. How freaking cool was it when the theme song kicked in when you climbed that mile long tunnel. This could be my favorite game of all time. Hideo Kojima has totally outdone himself.

I beat this game two weeks ago and I must say this is my personal game of the year for 2004. No game beats it and I've played a bunch of A+ titles this year for all the consoles. Hands down the best game of the year!

wait until you get to the ending.

and all this talk about the game has made me want to throw in my copy and play some of it tonight ( probably will end up doing just that)

Well I just beat the game and I have a thousand things i could say about it but Ill just start by listing all I can think of. First of all this game was incredibly long for a mgs game. Second It is by far the game of the year for me (over halo 2 easily). I wonder why sons of liberty was such a dud? The sequence with the motorcycle and the shagahod was incredible and reminiscent of the first mgs on the jeep. The story is so cool and wasn't gay like stealing an oil rig. This made you feel like the danger was imminent. Also, I have a question. SPOILER: Snake is Big Boss? As in the NES MGS game big boss. It was kinda weird cuz I think of snake as the same snake as in the other mgs games but isn't snake in mgs 1 and mgs 2 the clone (les enfants terribles) of big boss? Also, that ocelot sure is a sneaky devil. I heard the phone call at the end of the game. Well I don't want to sit here and ask question so does anyone know where I can go get a summary of events throughout this series. Interested to know.

It should have become apparent while playing MGS3 that you were not playing the same Snake from the other MG games. MGS3 is set in the 60s. Also, they have different names. In MGS, Snake says his name is Dave, while in MGS3, he is named John.

In a nutshell, you play the guy that becomes Big Boss. The guy you play in MGS 1+2 is the clone (or genetically engineered...thing) of the guy you control in MGS3.

thanks bud, isn't that what I just said.

this game is so freaking HOT. im up to the part after motocycle ride with Eva. how do u get the camo suits from the bosses? i didnt know u can.

By far one of the greats of this console generation. This ranks up there for me in the likes of Rez, Panzer Orta, Ico, ZOE II, and Metroid Prime. Kojima has reached a new level in terms of game storytelling, IMO

Use the tranq gun to deplete their stamina. The only exception is The End - you have to sneak up on him and hold him up 3 times to get his camo (just aim for his head, move your aim away from his head and then repeat two more times).

Can someone refresh my memory as it's been about 2yrs since I played MGS2?

How does Solidus Snake fall into place in the story line? Was Solidus one of the initial clones of BIG BOSS? The batch before the Solid/Liquid Snake batch of clones was created. If so, then were the "Le Enfant Terribles" Solidus' batch of clones or Solid/Liquid Snake's batch of clones?
