Nintendo is having their own Gamers Day thing tomorrow starting 12PM EST. I'm sure a number of threads will pop up around then so I figure instead of cluttering the board, everything could be rounded up here.

Tomorrow as in Tuesday or Wednesday? Either way this could be the secrets behind the Smash Bros website. Even if they just show us some new Batallion Wars screens I will be pleased.

Tuesday, so now technically today.

I'm pumped. Even if all we get is some more concrete details/media of MP3 and even Smash, it'll be an awesome day, for me! But I assume we'll get a decent amount more than that, so yeah, I'll be here following it all alongside all of y'all, no doubt.

New Metroid Prime information/screens just uploaded to Nintendo's press site.

KEY INFORMATION
If you think you knew what it felt like to be the bounty hunter behind the visor, think again. Take aim at evil with Nintendo's revolutionary controller.
 • Players control Samus by moving with the Nunchuk controller and aiming with the pointer, allowing for a level of immersion unlike anything they have ever experienced. Through the eyes of Samus, players experience a quantum leap in first-person control as they wield the Wii Remote controller, the ultimate device for the first-person shooter genre.
 • Samus will employ well-known power-ups like the Grapple Beam and Morph Ball, as well as a bunch of new surprises, to help her survive her coming trials.
Game storyline: Six months have passed since the events on the planet Aether. The Galactic Federation's network computer, Aurora Unit, is suddenly and completely corrupted with something like a virus. The Federation believes Space Pirates may be behind the problem and, beginning with Samus, starts to contact bounty hunters. As they explain the situation to the assembled hunters, the Federation is attacked by the pirates. Samus and the other hunters leap to the defense of the Federation capital, only to find that the enemy the hunters face is the presumed-dead Dark Samus. Dark Samus is armed with immense power that no one can withstand. It soon becomes obvious that the forces controlling Dark Samus and the terror of the contaminated Phazon are a dire threat that could corrupt the entire universe.

Characters: Samus, Dark Samus, the Galactic Federation and new bounty hunters.

How to progress through the game: The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk™ controllers to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from corruption isn't enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus' mortal enemy, Dark Samus.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, players will be able to grasp and pull things by using actual arm movements, as well as execute amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run. The game also incorporates a new system involving Phazon. If you fill Samus' Phazon supply to a certain level, Samus will temporarily go into hyper mode, a state in which she can pull off incredible feats; on the flip side, if she exceeds the maximum Phazon level, she'll perish. Also, for the first time in the Metroid series, Samus' ship will be used in active game play.

No multiplayer?
Well, isn't there online for MP?
Echoes has multiplayer, but not online (obviously). Hunters, however, drove the point home in being a proper FPS. Considering Wii's controls, this is litereally the closest you can come to playing FPS games with a mouse and keyboard, like God intended.

I am willing to bet that if done right, the multiplayer deathmatch gameplay of an FPS with Corruption's control scheme would be, basically, completely unlike what we've experienced on a console to this point. Before Halo fans begin munching on my nuts, here's a disclaimer: playing Halo after Quake III / Unreal Tournament games, is sorta like playing Wolfenstein 3D again. I don't mean that I'll kick you ass, I mean that I'll be bored the entire time. I hated GoldenEye on N64 as well, and Nintendo's my "home base."

A lot of people are against multiplayer in Metroid. Kind of goes along with the FPS v FPA debate. I'm guessing that is the reason it isn't in the game.

Honestly, I don't see the problem with adding online, but I'm not going to worry about it not being there either. By the way, the event is actually two days.

The Metroid pics we just got are horribly compressed. They're making the game, which we already know looks awesome, look really ugly.

Is it just me or does Metroid Prime 3 look horrible in those screens? The game will probably look much better in motion and in its correct resolution, but the game doesn't look very good based on those screens.
Well, Kotaku, GoNintendo, IGN, etc. are confirming that most of the stuff from this event is under embargo.
I was about to mention that. Bleh.

Everything we've seen in high quality videos from E3 2006 looked bad ass, so I'm not worried.

Any info as to "when" it is to see the light of day for all us common men?

I've read Friday several places, and this is reinforced by Kotaku's statement that we'll know stuff "in the next few days". I'm sure the stuff will trickle out over the course of the week.
Confirmation that the big 3 will all launch in '07?
Yup.

Do banks give loans for game purchases?

You aren't the only one who isn't impressed. I'm wondering if maybe they couldn't get screen grabs so somebody tried whipping something up in MS Paint.

Did Reggie mean playable at exclusive press events or playable in my family room? That speech wasn't supposed to be released to the public, so he had a specific audience in mind when he said that. "You" might not mean us. I hope I'm wrong though... dammit I hate being such a negative Nancy skeptic.

Actually the speech was supposed to be embargoed until Friday when it would then be released. Other sites began posting it early so Nintendo relented and allowed everyone to post it now.

So I'm pretty sure that Reggie was talking about the gaming public, not the press.

Here is a demonstration of the controls for Scarface Wii. The amount of blood that is spilt in this game is hilarious.

Also notice the strong language.

If it's true that both Smash Bros and Galaxy will follow Metroid in 07, I'm curious to know how the hell Nintendo is going to swing those releases. They've gotten in the habit of giving big releases a wide berth (around 3 months, right?). With Metroid coming in late Aug, that gives Nintendo effectively 4 months to drop two big releases. And with those 4 months coming on the heels of the Metroid release, releasing both games in that window is tantamount to a simultaneous release by Nintendo's standards.

I guess I'm skeptical that both will show in '07, even after these promises. My guess is seeing as how Smash has a fancy website, SMG will get the bump. I'm not happy about this, obviously, as I've had my sights set on SMG since well before I bought my Wii. Who knows, though: maybe Nintendo will surprise us.

I have my doubts too, but I don't think it'll make a difference when Galaxy and Brawl release. Anyone who doesn't have the money to buy them both right when they come out will wait until after Christmas and buy whichever game they don't already have.

They're both going to sell in huge numbers regardless of when they're released, particularly Brawl. It'll either be released before Galaxy this year or at the beginning of '08. Either way, overall sales of Brawl will remain strong for years.

I think Galaxy has a better chance of coming out this year in time for Christmas shopping because it will appeal to people who are for the most part unfamiliar with videogames as well as core gamers, whereas Brawl will appeal mostly to people who already play a lot of games. I can't imagine my parents and little sister wanting to play/watch a Super Smash Bros game; the same isn't true for Mario.

Take that for what it's worth, and disregard all the contradictions I probably made.:)

I've heard not to expect anything big tomorrow even though the embargo is up. Supposedly nothing of interest was at the tuesday showing(the embargoed for friday stuff).

And that minigame lovers will be pleased.

Er... doesn't sound too great.

Oh and it appears that all the cool stuff (i.e. the big three) were shown/playable during the second day of the event. This news is embargoed for a long time so that magazines are able to write about it.
95% of male wii owners aged 6-24 play regularly? I don't know if I buy that.
I know i play with my Wii regularly. I play with my nintendo system sometimes too.

About the minigame comment at kotaku ->:headache:
Wii could have zero minigame heavy games for the next 3 years and still have that genre monopolized.

Why is Bozon always so negative?

Right now I'm referring to his impressions of PBR.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/791/791848p1.html

Basically the 2nd half of which is a rant as to why this should not be purchased (because it 'should' be 'free' and because we've 'seen it before').

If people enjoy the Stadium gameplay, and they enjoy battling Pokemon, and they want to do it online against anonymous competition, and they want to do it in a 3D format, and they will likely put a lot of hours into it, what's the problem?

Seems his impressions are less about the game itself and more taking issue with Nintendo's console Pokemon strategy.

Now tell me for the exception of the Wii version can you name a noticiable improvement of each version of madden that makes it worth the cash each year, but yet he goes balistic on this game just because it is kinda like the N64 version but it looks way better, has diamond and pearl connectivity and has online play, but because it is the same game it isn't worth the money. Wow this guy is a fucking douchebag. Yes I understand that everyone has their own opinion but to basically tell people not to buy a game because it is too much closer to a previous game is kinda stupid when it has so much more to offer is kinda well stupid.
Penny Arcade pretty much sums up this event
When those boys hit the target, it's a thundering bullseye.

I'm *so* burned out on Mario Sports games and their random inane challenges. By the time I worked through Power Tennis, Toadstool Tour Golf, and Superstar Baseball on the 'Cube, I just didn't have any inclination to play Strikers and just can't work up any enthusiasm for Strikers Charged.

I loved Wombat's new MOTS genre from the current CAGcast... More Of The Same. Indeed. I feel myself becoming a little jaded, especially as I've taken on some intriguing investments and don't wanna toss cash around like confetti and also have more demands on my time in general. If it ain't bringing AAA fun, I'm not lining up for it.

So when Nintendo gives me a new Mario sports game and says "see, it's got waggle! and crazy DK banana gags!" I just kinda have to make a gas face. And, yes, I do the same for MS and Sony stuff, too. Halo 3? Gas face. Forza? Gas face. Pretty much everything for PS3 except for LBP? You guess it... gas face.

And is there anyone left who honestly gives a crap about what Reggie has to say at any time ever? He's not the gamer's best friend, he's just another marketing tool who dodges interesting questions and regurgitates talking points.

On the visual front, the Indianapolis 500 Legends is showing off graphical presentation about on par with other titles on Wii thus far. The line of sight is already something that the developer has put some serious time into, as the game is only half complete and already has very little pop-in that we could notice. No effects are currently in the game though, so we're essentially driving dry aside from track, skybox, cars, and landscape. What's there has a solid core look, and with some of the improvements that are to be implemented later (such as white-lined tires to tell you when to pit based on loss of rubber) there's a definite attention to detail that race fans will love.
