I just went down to my local Toys R Us in New York yesterday to pick up a ps3 bluray remote with my $20 gift card that I got with resident evil 5. After picking it up, on my way out i noticed something in the corner of my eye that made me stop short. OFFICIAL NINTENDO WII COMPONENT CABLES FOR ONLY 3 DOLLARS!!!! The price underneath it said orig. 29.99 now 3.00. I though it couldnt be true but I needed a set so I bought them and they rang up as $3. Im curious if it the same price at other Toys R Us, so if anyone can confirm this at another location please post it. This is totaly the best deal I have ever spotted out of the corner of my eye.

Good deal and all but it sounds very YMMV.

Dunno if Monoprice is well known around here or not but these are always $3.50 and they're just as high quality as the Nintendo cables.

with my experience, TRU deals I find on CAG tend to always work. Maybe its my store, but it seems pretty universal. Please tell me if I'm wrong...

Nice find. I wonder if it's better than my third party component cable, which leaves lots of annoying artifacts in the picture on some Wii games. I may have to check and see if my local TRU has one for that price.

ETA: My cable is a "universal" component cable for PS2/3/XBOX/GC/Wii from Monoprice.

Just to clarify, it was not on clearance, it was just on the shelf. It didn't have any special markings on it or anything, it was just like any other product on the shelf and had a sticker below it that said $3. To be honest, I'm SHOCKED I saw that tiny sticker and something in my brain when "well that's cheep, go look at it". This was all too perfectly timed for me since I was just about to order some 3rd party component cables on Amazon.com

I really hope this is not YMMV

its universal i work at tru these went on clearance 2 months ago as was stated in the tru clearance thread

I have a 3rd party component cable and it works perfectly, FYI. It isn't from monoprice - I actually can't remember the brand. I'm just pointing out that 3rd party isn't inherently bad. The problem with that universal cable is undoubtedly the universality of it. Also, I suspect that universal cable wasn't really a monoprice-made cable, just one sold by them. When buying from monoprice, buy their cables, not the 3rd party ones they sell too. I do have a monoprice VGA cable and it works great with my iMac hooked up to my HDTV - they do make good cables, and cheap.

Anyway, if you can get the official one for $3, that's a no brainer. Get it.

Agreed. Monoprice is great. I don't think they make the game console cables themselves though, at least none of the cables for Wii.
Does Nintendo still do those universal video cable thing anymore? This would be a great deal for my GC as well.
nope

$3.00 is a clearance price at TRU. Any price at TRU that ends in .00 is usually clearance.

Yeah, it's a universal TRU clearance drop. It's been mentioned here before. Still an awesome deal though. Too bad I can't find them.
I am also on long island. Which TRU was this at?
the one by the smithaven mall in suffolk

If you're getting artifacting, your Wii is probably dying. The cable can't cause that, though it is one of the two most common ways the Wii seems to die (neither of which the Gamecube suffered from...). That said, personally I'd rather have a first party cable, and they're NOT all made the same. (Though that cable might be fantastic, I have no idea.

Any idea when this clearance started? The closest TRU to me is like 20+ miles away; I probably should call them up before running over there to be disappointed lol.
