Just starting a thread for deals for the Playstation VR.

I picked up the Core bundle off Amazon and I'm looking for a cheap camera and move controllers.

I found that best buy has some cheap playstation 4 cameras on sale for 39.99 with free shipping.

If you all know any good deals for move controllers or launch games, let me know.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (PS VR) $15.99 via Amazon (Prime Price). https://www.amazon.c...heapassgam08-20

My PS VR should be arriving in the mail tomorrow.

I was initially planning on just using the 5.1 Surround sound speaker set up in my room for gaming with the VR to get my audio (i think thats possible?)

Buuuut, I know nooothing about gaming headsets, quality, trusted brands, ect.

Is it possible for me to get a 5.1 or a 7.1 surround sound gaming headset for around....$199?
That's what I use. There are cats here and one of them LOVES to chew strings and wires. I'm not taking any chances by using headphones.

It's going to cost too much for devs to support both so they're going to stick with the biggest userbase - original PS4. Maybe they'll patch it but then there goes your HDD space. In the end there's nothing about the Pro that's good for us or the market. I don't want another crash.
It's not always and very often not the case... spoken from ex console developer.

When the game is developed, the developer might just put everything in but later find out the performance is bad so they simply turn them off or take them out when fine turning for the final products.

With a better hardware, they can keep those things in while turn them off when running on the worse hardware.

For the game "Thumper" PlayStation VR will see improved rendering quality at the same 90 FPS as the regular PS4 when played on a Pro according to GameSpot (PS4 Pro upgrades/patches).

Hopefully when we get closer to the launch of the Pro, other developers will announce that their PSVR games will see PS Pro inprovements.

Wow, came here to check on feedback about the drift issues and soaked in this argument instead. I should've brought some popcorn.

http://uploadvr.com/farpoint-developer-ps4-pro-ps-vr/

Farpoint developer talking about how the ps4 pro will make the game look better than the regular ps4. I'm personally loving my headset currently and can't wait for this and robinson: the journey. Anyone know when robinson is supposed to release?
I was coming into post this but thankfully it looks like the flame war's died down a bit. The article is great in that it calls out the two directions the Pro can head in optimizaing the graphics, props and resolution.

I was just thinking that resolution was going be a problem for FPS because distance really matters. It'll be interesting to see if the Pro makes the game actually better by giving players a better line of sight. The game obviously looks interesting but it's also looked kinda bland. VR has made pretty much every experience I've had so far much better than I thought it would be though.

You'll want to get a set of headphones that just come with a standard stereo jack. Most of the headsets that tout surround sound need you to plug into a separate USB adapter to the console that does the audio processing. Instead, you'll want to plug your headphones into the headphone jack along the PSVR cable so you can get the properly processed 3D audio out of the processing unit.

Don't know if this has been said since I didn't want to trudge through all this PS4 vs. PS4Pro argurment but there's a Best Buy promo: Buy the PlayStation VR, PlayStation camera, and the PS Move motion controllers below and save $60. Plus, save $10 on each game you select from the list below. (Stacks with GCU)

I seriously had no idea I was going to start such an intense debate when I asked the question about the pro making an difference a few days ago. Having said that, thanks to everyone on both sides of the argument for weighing in. There seemed to be reasoned responses on both sides (excluding the one comment about it being stupid to buy the mid gen upgrade instead of waiting for scorpio).

Also, thank you for posting the uploadvr.com article. This was helpful not only for the article itself but also because it gave me the opportunity to read some new info on other vr items.

These are the ones I purchased, they look, feel, and sound awesome. They even come with a short 3.5mm cord just for the psvr. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/plantronics-rig-4vr-wired-stereo-gaming-headset-for-playstation-vr/5386526.p?skuId=5386526

Wow. Made me check it out. Then I did the math...

This is worse then the starter bundle.
$399 + $99 +$59 - $59. And does not include VR Worlds...

I really like Scavengers Odyssey on VR Worlds, but it's also the only game that makes me motion sick.... It's the whole jumping around in space that gets to me, I guess. And here I was playing hours of Eve Valkyrie and Driveclub without issues...guess I'm not invincible like I thought.

That's the one and only game that has made me feel kinda queasy as well. I had posted a few pages back that the sideways jumping seems to be what kinda threw me off. The RIGS and Eve demos haven't bothered me at all, and I've put in a few hours of Battlezone with no problems either.

I had a mild amount of discomfort with Scavenger and nothing really with Rigs, though I played Rigs with head tracking turned off initially. When I played Rigs the "right" way with head-tracking I was extremely nauseous after 15 minutes. I was standing which was a bad idea but I had to approach it again sitting in order to not feel as bad.

I dunno I don't like rez I just can't get in to it. Maybe it's the demo. Thumper is pretty cool though gonna pick that up eventually.  Also I must have gotten a defective copy of Driveclub VR. The graphics are good on my version. A step down from the PS4 version, but still good overall. People saying it looks bad & like a PS2 game need to get their eyes checked. Rigs is my favorite game so far though. So damn cool & a fun unique twist on the genre.

After playing Eve Valkryie I found my playing limit before I get eye strain and slight headache towards the front of brain prolly from the eye strain. I can last about 1 hour 20 mins before i start to feel it. So far its the only game that has done that. How bout anybody else i general?

Now that the Pro trolls left I may have a lead on the drift issue. Since it only affects me in cinematic mode I chose to play some Rocket League. It needed to be recentered every few minutes. Using the 'check position' tool I realized the front lights turn off. The back ones stay on. Odd. I know the camera is still tracking because your view is not locked to the center but I dunno what it's doing. Thinking the glow might be the issue I pushed the lights into the headrest. I also ended up on the orange team thinking the controller light could be part of the problem too. Crazily enough I was able to go a whole match without recentering. Coincidence?

The whole point of this deal is because the launch bundle is sold out at most stores. It's actually just as good of a deal if you were planning on getting at least 4 games with it.

I finally gave in and opened mine.

The first time you put it on is awesome.  And the 2nd time was awesome.  The sense of scale is just out of this world.  I've tried GearVR and VIVE so I experienced some of what VR had to offer already, but PSVR seemed to be even better out of the box.  VR Worlds was what we checked out for now.  And just hitting a floating ball with your Dualshock4 feels pretty awesome.  The force feedback you feel when hit you swing your dualshock4 and connect with the ball is really well done.  And to see it go sailing across the room.  And to look around you and feel the size of the room etc.  Awesome.

You can definitely see why so many say it's the future.

And this only continued with the Scavengers and London Heist tutorial and the DAnger Ball stuff.  It's all pretty impressive in terms of sense of scale and being there.

That being said, I was done after 2 hours including hooking it up.  And it was not just me playing for 2 hours either.  IT was me and my 2 kids taking turns.

VR wears on you.  I can even feel it now 30 minutes after quitting.  It is the same feeling I get when I get really dizzy.  It is starting to completely go away.  I felt like I often tolerated some level of uncomfortableness to experience the coolness of being in a virtual world.

That doesn't speak to its chances of going mainstream anytime soon.  I compare it to WiiSports and we played the crap out of Wiisports day 1 and week 1 and week 4 and even year 1.

On top of that drawback,  ....what a cable nightmare.  Not hard to hook up but there are still lots of cables across the media center and floor in our gaming room right now.    NOt just the VR cables, but all the charging cables for the controllers between the Dualshock4s and the 2 Move controllers.  The things seems to eat batteries but not sure how charged they were to begin with.  To make it worse, the PSVR needs 1 USB port on the PS4 so you only have 1 open port for charging and none of the controllers can be charged through usb wall chargers.

IT's  a mess.

And then the adjustments.  As we took turns we had to adjust the camera to fit the height of the person.  We were all different heights.  And adjust it to whether we were sitting or standing.

Some of the visuals were a little shaky.  The closer I focused on say the table in the London Heist tutorial the more I realized it shimmered or vibrated or drifted a tad.  Best not to focus on that stuff  because it isn't comforting to the senses.  Same with focusing too much on the controller you are holding which doesn't seem to sit quite still if you really look at it.

And finally watching someone do VR on the tv screen?  Boring as all hell.  IT's a snoozer.

Overall, after our fist go at it, it's a big mix of peaking at the awesomeness of the future while seeing quite clearly how the future is  going to be held back/delayed/neutered by all the cables, charging, adjustments and motion sickness.  Nevermind the pricepoint.

Is anyone returning the PS VR because of the drift issue or no?  I have the issue, but I am torn as to whether to keep it and hope a software patch will fix it or if I should return it because it might be a hardware issue.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I really feel it's a software issue, but you never know. I mean, why would the majority of PSVR's suffer from this? I really hope Sony does address this.

I'm taking my chances and keeping it for longer. I do have 45 days to return to Best Buy if the case is the headset.

If it were a hardware issue we'd see drift in VR too, not just cinematic. Read my above findings, I may have a lead.

I'm not returning mine. Got it from GS anyway. Had a lot of gift cards saved up.

I get the drift in VR mode. Specifically, I notice it when playing Danger Ball. I'll play facing the TV at first and about 20-30 mins in I'm now facing about 45 degrees away from the TV.

That doesn't discredit my earlier experiment but if others see it in VR then this gets deeper.

20-30 minutes? Damn, when I'm seeing it in Rocket we're talking 3-4 minutes tops. I'd have to recenter once or twice a round. Never measured how far it goes or if it has a stopping point by ignoring it.

The fact it stopped drifting (only had one test) when I hid the back lights and didn't have blue on the controller might be a clue. Still if it's that slow for you then finishing a 5 minute round wouldn't confirm it's 100% gone.

Same thing just happened to us. It was really bizarre. Coundn't figure out how to quickly get it to go back to normal. Having said that...

We also opened mine up tonight. Wow. This was my first experience with VR in any form. It was fantastic. As someone who remembers the days before the atari 2600, I could not believe what I was experiencing.

I played (1) the opening cinematic for VR worlds 3x, (2) the ocean decent coral reef and deep sea dive and (3) danger ball. I could play danger ball for a long time. I got in the 2000ish range and I just kept thinking that I could move way up the leader boards if I just played another game or two. Incredibly fun.

Also, I'm now completely exhausted.

Played some more of Job Simulator today, still enjoying it. Messed with the video games for 10 minutes or so, the quality seems really bad. It could just be due to streaming. Batman will be here tomorrow, and I'm still considering Until Dawn. Maybe I'll get some vr games from the upcoming Target Buy2Get1.

Also for those interested. On this week's episode of PS I Love You, they talked about porn being available. So if you're interested, look it up. It uses a flash drive and the media player.

Ok so I just got my PS VR tonight and it was really annoying hooking it all up, man it was a chore.

Due to this, I can confidently say now that my plans of taking my Playstation VR to my friends houses and hooking it up to their systems to experience it, is definitely out of the question. It is such a pain in the butt to hook up with so many wires all over the place that if they want to play it, they need to come and visit me. No way am I assembling and disassembling it that many times. Once was enough, ugh.

But once I got all that wire clutter stuff done I played for an hour or two.

The ocean sea dive was alot of fun in playstation worlds.

I turned off all the lights in my room and cranked the surround sound on and took my wimpy older sister and put the VR headset on her (she had no idea wtf the headset was) and put on the Kitchen demo.

She was so shocked that she was in another room now and she was just looking all around, and once "she" appeared, my sister screamed her head off and took the headset off immediately.

She did not finish the demo. Totally worth buying the VR just for that, she was horrified.

Now, I waaaas enjoying my VR experience quite a bit until 2 things happened.

1.) After playing for another hour or so, the headset started to wane on my forehead and feel a bit uncomfortable after wearing it for so long.

2.) I was playing the Outer Space game (Playstation Worlds) with the spaceship and the alien. It was really cool and I was totally digging it, until I finally understood what most people were talking about here.

My game started to "Drift". As I played the game, with me sitting perfectly still, not moving my position on my couch, My field of vision went from sitting directly in the center of the spacecraft I was piloting, to the camera going left....more left....more left....until my field of vision was completely staring constantly at my left side of the spacecraft, having to turn my head alllll the way to the right and keeping it there to see what should be the center of the screen.

I tried to re calibrate the screen by holding the option button down but it didnt work.

When going back to the PS4 main menu, I could re-center the screen there, but as soon as I jumped back into gameplay, the camera was still wrong.

Does this happen in all games? I just played that outer space game for awhile until that unfortunate incident happened and i decided to turn off the PS4 at that point since it killed the experience for me.

The VR headset is amazing and fun when it works well, but when it starts drifting? I become a sad panda.

Sounds like you're a bad friend. I take my PC and Vive to friends places all the time.

So I have a question with that BestBuy deal. I'm on the verge of purchasing it, but one thing is stopping me, I already have two move controllers. What would happen if I tried to return just the controllers in that deal? Would it make everything else go back up to full price? I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to do this because I don't have the camera.

Yes you do. You need Danger Ball. Playing Pong with your head is the best thing ever.
I agree, and even though the London Heist is short it is still one of the best ways to introduce someone to VR. One of the most fun gaming experiences I have ever had. That car chase scene was just awesome lol. (definitely play with the move controllers)

I've found that if I go back into settings and recalbirate the camera, then that seems to solve the issue for a while until the drift happens again. I haven't noticed drift in Batman, but it's very noticeable in Danger Ball for me.

I haven't tried this but anyone know the drift would be easily fixed if we just unplug the camera usb and plug it right back in?

I'm happy that BB is doing this deal bc I missed out on the Launch Bundle. Now with this deal and GCU, the discounts puts it almost at the same price point as the Bundle. Sure, I'm missing out on the VR Worlds disc but I'm getting Batman, Until Dawn, Sports Bar for $8 each, and Tumble for free.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Sony will put out a fix or something to address the drifting issues that some people are experiencing.

Huh, I just got a VR on warehouse deals for $370, a launch bundle. Hopefully it has no problems. If there's any issues with it being amazon I know it'll be hassle free.

Best Buy Deal is very good if you do it right and part of GCU:

PSVR 357.13

Move 89.28

camera 53.56

---not a big deal yet, but games are where you get the benefit--

Batman VR 7.99

Until Dawn 7.99

Bound VR 9.99 digital

Tumble VR 0.00 (9.99 but free after discount)

tax and local pickup
