Just starting a thread for deals for the Playstation VR.

I picked up the Core bundle off Amazon and I'm looking for a cheap camera and move controllers.

I found that best buy has some cheap playstation 4 cameras on sale for 39.99 with free shipping.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-playstation-camera-for-playstation-4-black/8245153.p?skuId=8245153

If you all know any good deals for move controllers or launch games, let me know.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (PS VR) $15.99 via Amazon (Prime Price). https://www.amazon.c...heapassgam08-20

Hey Frisky,

Can you make a top 10 list of your best VR games? One for physical games, and a seperate one for ditital only.

Looking for ideas on what to try next
I don't know about separate physical/digital lists since I'm mostly all-in on digital PSVR games without really caring about physical unless the game refuses to go on sale on PSN otherwise, which is pretty much just Job Simulator at this point.

To give you guys a heads up, I'm working on a One Year of PSVR Retrospective feature for SmashPad with impressions/mini-reviews of every PSVR game I've played that will cover everything. Still hammering out all of the specifics, but that's the quick pitch. Anyway, here's my favorite PSVR games so far:

  • Battlezone
  • Carnival Games VR
  • Darknet
  • Farpoint
  • Eve Gunjack
  • Headmaster
  • HoloBall
  • Pixel Gear
  • Race The Sun
  • Rez Infinite
  • SuperHyperCube
  • Superhot VR
  • Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality
  • Thumper
  • Time Machine VR
  • Trackmania Turbo
  • Volume
  • Wayward Sky
Oh, you wanted an actual list? I guess I'd order it like this:

  1. Superhot VR
  2. SuperHyperCube
  3. Rez Infinite
  4. Farpoint
  5. Thumper
  6. Surgeon Simulator
  7. Darknet
  8. Headmaster
  9. Carnival Games VR
  10. Battlezone
Very scientific and accurate.

Just picked up the Farpoint bundle from Target with their 30% a game when you buy a pre-order card sale.

This is absolutely awesome! I experienced no latency issues and aiming down the sights feels so cool!

I see Bestbuy ad has free RE7 with purchase of the headset only and not the bundle. If I pm to Costco for $250, I wonder if I can still get the free game. I imagine that I would need to ring it up at the same time as the bundle and pretend I was getting it anyhow for it to come up free. As long as the manager doesn't stick around after pm approval, I should be good. I think I just talked myself into trying this tomorrow.

Figured I'd give some quick impressions of Voltron and Solus Project which is what I've played lately in VR.

Voltron Chronicles:

-It's an hour with a variety of puzzles and some like rail shooting which is repeated a few times each with a minor change to gameplay.

-Most of the production value is amazing (voice acting, character animation. Voltron) but some is poor (some environments, enemy ships, etc.)

-It's epsiodic with a cliffhanger ending. The story was good but was basically the premise.

-It's the best 1 hour "game" I've played in terms of pacing, quality and design in VR. It should probably be about 5 bucks. Best analogy as a product would be a Tell Tale game which I typically wait to hit 20 bucks for a whole season.

The Solus Project

-It's a whole game. I've put 2 hours in and feel like I just got started.

-Look ok. Feels a lot like an empty skyrim. Sense of place is pretty amazing.

-Controls are horrible. You can turn difficulty down to the extent the game is a walking sim with light puzzles which I greatly prefer. Doesn't effect trophies.

-Fantastic for 15 bucks. Story, atmosphere, and sense of scope alone make it a pretty great experience.

I think that explains the drop on prices on the Core headset recently. Sucks that there isn't a way to swap out the Processor Unit with new one. Although, I don't have a 4K/HDR TV anyway, so it probably wouldn't really matter.
The updated headset seems only make it more convenient, doesn't do anything to enhance the games. If the current one has lower price, it might be a better deal for most people

I don't even use a headset with my PSVR. I just use my sound system. But then, I live alone, and don't have to worry about any family or room-mates to annoy.

Does PSVR distinguish using headphone or speakers? because sound changes while you change your direction and it should be different when using headphone or speakers

Just an update, I did get a pm and the free game. So I got the core headset for $250 and a free RE7 which I promptly traded in for $21 in GS credit. I already have the move controllers and camera so it's a win for me. Of course they announced the updated version today but I can live with the inconveniences at this price point. I'm stuck with it anyhow since I traded RE7 anyhow.

Why would you trade in RE7? It's the best PSVR game!

I just finished my second VR run in Resident Evil 7. My first one was on Normal. This one was on Madhouse.

Two-thirds of the way through I became familiar with the field-of-view option. I had been playing on Auto; oh my God, I should have been playing with it off. Auto wasn't horrible. It had slightly less tunnel vision than Low, but I felt even more in the world when having as little FOV restriction as possible. I started looking around a bit by just moving my eyes.

RE7 and Persona 5 are my top games this year. It's hard to pick which is my favorite, but if my first time playing RE7 was in VR I think it would win. I hope we get an RE8 in VR before this gen is over. Last gen we got two Resident Evil games, so it's possible.

Get a noise cancelling headset, works way better for immersion. It makes it so you can accuratwly hear sounds as they should be heard, it makes it so you can hear where the noise is coming from, almost exactly how far away it is, and you won't have anything interrupting it either.

Rez Infinite just got an update to unlock Area X from the start of the game, so no more having to play through the campaign, as short as it is, to unlock that.

I knew the digital VR sale was happening today, and I knew that my PS+ was expiring sometime in October. I hadn't realized that my PS+ was expiring last night. I should have bought the year from BB when they had it on sale for $48.

Did Arizona Sunshine ever get fixed? I passed on it before partly because of the price and partly because of the feedback about difficulty aiming. I found some people saying 1.02 fixed it and some saying it didn't.

For my two cents here are the best deals I see:

-VR worlds

-I Expect You to Die

-Psychonauts: ROR

-Super Hypercube

-Tethered

I'm looking for opinions on Sparc, Arizona Sunshine, and Dexed.

Also, FYI Solus Project got a Pro patch that greatly enhanced the visuals, cleaning up a ton of aliasing and "improving" controls with smooth turning. The game feels like a tech demo of how Skyrim might play if you are interested in getting a feel for walking around a giant open space.

I have Minigolf and it's plenty fun though a very simple implementation of VR with only DS4 support. Graphics are clean and there's already been a new free course released as DLC. No plat trophy though and it should have had one.

Frankly Apollo and and Harmonix Music haven't scored that well though it was a launch title and most reviews came from mainstream sites which tend to be pretty hard on VR games.

I posted this in the niche game thread, but it applies here as well.  The Invisible Hours for the PSVR has been released physically for $29.99 and appears to be Gamestop exclusive in the US.  They aren't advertising it as exclusive, but it's published by GameTrust which is owned by Gamestop.

Wow, really tempted after it was clarified it supports PS4 Pro. It's about a 5 hour game with a good bit of replay from what I understand.

I noticed with the most recent 5.00 FW update, PSVR also got an update that fixes the "issue" that when you earned trophies, there was no on-screen pop-up for them in PSVR. The issue with how it's done is that you get a generic trophy icon popping up in the center of the display, which is probably not ideal for certain games.

Grabbed a bunch of games from this sale with an eye on getting more later:

Ancient Amuletor

Arizona Sunshine

The Brookhaven Experiment

Dexed

Dick Wilde

Herocade

I Expect You To Die

Neptune Flux

Statik

Virry VR

I'm probably not going to offer up any direct impressions on games for the next few days for those asking for them because I'm working on a big feature to go up by this weekend with impressions/mini-reviews and such for a big Year One PSVR Guide thing.

Oh man, I went a bit deeper than I originally expected. But now, my VR cup runneth over. I'm prepared for the holidays, and will share some PSVR play with my friends and family.

100ft Robot Golf

Headmaster

Pixel Gear

Moonshot Galaxy

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Catlateral Damage

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

I Expect You To Die

Apollo 11

Mortal Blitz

Psychonauts: Rhombus of Ruin

Infinite Mini-Golf

Harmonix Music

Tumble VR

I'm going to have to take a break from Danganronpa V3 and actually try some of this stuff out.

Any opinions on The Assembly, Don't Knock Twice, Passengers Awakening, and The Bellows?  Are they worth it at the sale prices?

If you want to see a bunch of these sales items in action, I made a bunch of videos of them on my personal YT channel and the SmashPad channel:

I enjoyed the story of The Assembly and some of the puzzle stuff, but it did a poor job as an adventure game of letting me know what I was supposed to be doing and access info I supposedly learned.
