Official Prey Thread

I really hope that the demo of this delivers... the game looks ridiculously good and everything is indicating that it'll play fittingly well.
 
Ever since it was brought back from the grave, Prey has been one of the most anticipated first-person shooters for the Xbox 360 and the PC. The console demo is slated to go up this Wednesday, June 21, on Xbox Live at 9 p.m. PDT (Thursday at midnight EDT/4 a.m. GMT/5 a.m. UK). According to codeveloper 3D Realms and publisher 2K Games, it will be a five-level demo that will show off both single-player and multiplayer modes of the game.

Yep, I'll be getting it for the PC... can't wait. Hopefully the download won't go too slowly because I'd like to try the game out before I go to sleep tonight.

Great for west coast... 9 pm PT = 12 a.m. EST = 6/22. Hopefully it'll be on XBLM before I get home from work tomorrow. I want this game enough that I'll probably skip the sp demo and just look at some of your guys' impressions. I'll definitely try out the mp demo though.
 
fuck the mulitplayer demo, but I'm definitely d/ling the single player demo tonight. This game looks to awesome to be bad. Here's hoping it'll find a place alongside Fear and Far Cry for me.
 
Well Prey was unveiled only a year ago... I'd assume work had been done for a year or two before that as well...

But if you mean when was Prey originally anounced... that was 1997.

I hope the people responsible at Gamespot DIE for this...all the anticipation and I cant even start downloading...stupid gamespot...

I'm a subscriber, but I'm getting a pretty good DL rate... still like 50 minutes to go... ah well, I'll post some impressions in the 360 Prey thread later on.
 
Prolly not. I think the only place to get this is from Gamespot's servers since they've been bragging about having the exclusive for like a week now.

edit: and now it's slowing down. Ahh... I'll play like 15 minutes and then post some impressions.
 
Damn...I'm not a special gamespot member and I'm getting an average of 22kb/s...I might have to wait until the servers stop being hammered, as of now I have 5 HOURS to go :cry:
 
I'm getting 100kb/s which is still not that great... since I'd like to get getting 2-4 times that... but whatever. I'll at least be able to play a bit of it tonight so I can curb this anticipation a little.
 
They have a mirror at download.com...but they are getting killed, I'm trying to get a download spot from them since its insanely slow at gamespot.
 
wow, that's damn good. Still gonna keep it going at Gamespot though since I'm 60% done now... guess everyone was under the impression that Gamespot'd be the only source.
 
Done. Time to get started. Only gonna play a little bit though. If this doesn't make me cry tears of joy like FEAR and Far Cry did, I'll be disappointed. I really want this to be a top tier FPS.
