Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:

Arrrh, I just got FFTA2 (thanks, freaky!) and will probably be starting that next week, but $32.99 with a gift card may be too good to pass up. Plus I still have my CC gift card from GTA4, so that's even better. Who knows when I'll actually start playing the game, though. :whee:

^ No problem metaly! :whee:

Between FFIV DS and Warhawk nights... I have to also play SoulCalibur IV when it comes out. My wallet will be angry at me for the week, that's for sure... it will run and go into hiding!

But hey, at least the upcoming month won't be a bore! ;)

You know, for a moment there I actually forgot about SC4... July has not been a good month for my wallet. :hot:

And yeah, August should be great! I don't think there are any more games I'm interested in coming out until Animal Crossing in November and probably Rock Band 2, so I'm looking forward to a good three months of playing SC4 and a bunch of backlog stuff. Maybe I'll even get a few new ranks in Warhawk. That new 50 point ribbon sounds like good stuff.

Just saw this on Facebook and it amused me.

Incidentally, I'm only on there a few minutes every month, but I feel like such a creepy old guy whenever I am because I see more and more people with grad dates of '09 and '10. And also they are high school grad dates.

You mean this? That was funny. :)

Just thought I'd post it here, since I had to sign in to see this picture. ;)
Also, you just made the 900th post on the thread! :whistle2:o

Ok.

Here's some updated photos of my infamous collection.

Sega Dreamcast and Saturn here.

PS2 only. More games hidden behind that stuff.

VideoGamecollection020.jpg

SNES, GBA, DS stuff here.

VideoGamecollection021.jpg

Sega CDX, more Sega Saturn games (look at Guardian Heroes!), and more junk.

VideoGamecollection022.jpg

NES stuff here as well as other stuff in that box.

VideoGamecollection023.jpg

Old school consoles.

TodaysPickups002.jpg

Today's pickups. I should've had the Club for PS3 in here but the stupid idiot that works the Electronics section in the Mountain View Target denied me. Beware going there!

TodaysPickups001.jpg

My steal of the day. After I got a haircut, I went next door where they had BOTH Power Stone and Power Stone 2 for the Dreamcast. All together, this cost me $10.

What a day. Enjoy the pictures. I'll post more in my blog. :D

I wanted to keep one mint and the other is my copy that I will use to mess and play around with. Did anyone notice on the top of the shelves? The Macross planes, the Voltron lions, the Metal Gear Solid Limited Edition box? ;)

--Michael

Oh wow, tons of crazy stuff. Like Pocketstations! How much use did you get out of those? :)

Sort of makes me want to dig out all my SNES boxes and take a huge collection shot, but I've got stuff on a bunch of different shelves. Also I don't want to get beat up by LeafPanda.

And how do you get denied something at a Target? That's lame of them.

I've beaten most games but now that I have a daughter and work 40+ hours a week, I think finishing all of these games are no longer gonna happen...unless I win the lotto and have all the free time in the world.

I bought FFIV DS today at Best Buy... I got them to match the Fry's ad! :D
Only reason I didn't buy it at Circuit City was because they won't get them in until tomorrow! :bomb:
Oh well, I have my game now and I'm happy. Thanks for the heads up on the Fry's ad Civickid. ;)

As tempting as that deal is, I think by the time I get around to it it'll be available for cheaper anyway, so I'll try to control my FF4-lust for now. I'll just have to use my CC gift card on SC4 instead. Only a week to go!

You should try to get Amazon to price-adjust SoulCalibur IV CE for $39.99! There's a huge thread about it in the deals forum. :D

Seems a little hit-or-miss, but I'll give it a try. Also I guess I should try to get on Amazon's email list. Thanks for pointing it out!

Edit: Couldn't get them to match the price. I don't suppose Best Buy would pricematch an Amazon email, either. :whistle2:\"

No problem Freaky. I went over to Circuit City and got the game and the $10 GC. When I looked at the receipt, the game was only $29.99! The $39.99 price came because of the $10 GC. I was thinking of returning the game (which i later did) and kept the GC. I later went to Best Buy and price matched (like you did) and got my game for $32.99. Not to mention I also grabbed a pennied guide of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Did anyone by chance get a pennied guide of the Super Mario Galaxy Limited Edition from their Gamestop? Let me know. I'm still searching for one. :)

Before I did my workout tonight, I hopped by the TRU's in Sunnyvale and in San Jose (Winchester) and got the following:

1. Zelda: Twilight Princess for the :gc:
2. Wario Ware: Smooth Moves for the :wii: x3
3. Sonic Adventure (don't remember it but it was for the :gc:) x3
4. Pokemon Leaf Green :gba:
5. Stuntman Ignition :ps3:
6. Enchanted Arms :ps3:
7. Dancing With the Stars with pad for :ps2:
8. Juiced 2 :ps2:
9. Virtua Tennis 3 :psp:

It helps to know the manager of the game section at Sunnyvale TRU. ;)

My main thing was getting Zelda: TP :gc: for $7.98. Was really stoked about it!

--Michael

Hey Civickid, since you seem to be the master of penny guides, can you let me know if you ever pick up one of those Mass Effect premium guides (the one with the artbook included)? Not really in need of the guide itself, but I love that game. :)

No problem Metaly. I've been keeping an eye on the Guides thread and I've found so many penny guides around the area. I've heard that maybe the Assassin's Creed guide with the artbook might be the next to be pennied as well as the Super Mario Galaxy Hardcover. Man, if those get pennied, I'll snatch them up in a heartbeat. Of course if Mass Effect goes, I'll grab them too.

If anyone has a Contra 4 DS copy they got from the TRU sale, I'll be glad to trade for it. I got some good stuff!

--Michael
Damn! They rejected my order of the price adjustment (for SCIV CE)... I wanna cry now. :'(
I'm actually sort of relieved, because I don't really want that huge metal case or any of the extras like the t-shirt. I am curious about the exclusive CAS content since I plan to be doing a lot of that, but I don't think whatever it is will be worth an extra $20.

Still, getting the game for $20 cheaper than the regular edition would have been nice. :)

Cool, thanks. I'll have to check out the guide thread as well.

I was considering getting the Assassin's Creed guide the other day since I'm playing that right now and I'm sure it has nice maps of all the flags. Then I found out that all you get for collecting them all is some achievement points. Not worth the effort, even with a map. :nottalking:

Maybe for a penny, though. :)

Also freaky, how's FF4 DS??? I heard someone say it was a disgrace, but then again I don't think I've ever agreed with anything he's said.

Ok, imagine FFVII graphics, with good voice acting... That's basically FFIV DS.
I actually like it alot, and it stays true to the original story thus far. What I really like about it is how the bottom screen acts as a map for wherever you are, so you'll never get lost. Plus, if you complete a map in a dungeon you get something extra (like a 6-pack of potions ;) ).
The difficulty is a bit higher... I struggled through some of the earlier caves, and you will get hit with status effects very early on in this game (this for me is a welcome addition, since I find the original game a bit on the easy side. :) ).
If you have fond memories of this game, or even if you remotely like RPGs, then you should be able to enjoy the game. It's really good, and the story is a bit easier to follow, now that it has voice acting and all! ;)

yea FFIV DS is harder than the snes or gba version, which is a good thing. You might have to do a bit of grinding. The voice acting is surprising good, and the mini games are actually fun to play. Also if you played FFIII DS it uses the same engine, but it makes a lot of improvement such as using the bottom screen for information.

Omg! No wonder the Sunnyvale TRU has been cleared out. Did you take all the copies of WarioWare at the Winchester one? Or are there still some left.
10am this morning via email... and at 12pm I got the rejection. :'(
Yea, I got a rejection email as well but I took my chances and called them. I guess I lucked out.

That's a relief to hear that the voices in FF4 are actually good. And I'm glad they use the touchscreen for something. Also, I can understand it being harder than the SNES version, but the GBA one, too? That last room before the final boss must be murder!
Damn you Civic Kid ,
I've been looking for Smooth Moves :/
Did you clean out both stores?
Yea, that's the one game I've been looking for. It's weird because I called Winchester yesterday and they said they didn't have the game in stock... and yet he was able to pick up 3 copies from the place. I'll try and head over there tomorrow, but it sounds like it's been picked bare like the Sunnyvale one.

Dont waste your time theres really nothing to look at over at Winchester, and the Sunnyvale one is in even worse condition. Seems lots of flippers around here. And with the extra $10 per 2 at gamestop a lot of them made out like bandits. I havent been able to find anything that i've actually wanted from clearance for the past few weeks.

As for penny guides there are two collectors edition guides for super mario galaxy at the gamestop near the popeyes and safeway. Not to familure with the area but its on homestead. They are in the back with a huge stack of other guides ready to be thrown out.

On a side note people please stop going to Great America your screaming is causing me problems at work. I hate being on a floor above other buildings within screaming distance of that place. Its awesome to see the coasters working though, one day i'm gonna have to go inside that place.

Anyone know of any good places to eat around GA?

Smooth Moves wasn't that great if you ask me, at least not as a WarioWare game. Maybe if you have a lot of Wii parties it would be better.

I actually just sold my copy. Wish I had known people here were looking for it.

Thanks for the tip, I was severly dissapointed with the collection at the sunnyvale TRU.

There are some good places around GA. If you go to where AMC 20 Mercado is, there are some restraunts there along with an in-n-out. If you venture off near Arques (fry's road) and lawrence, there is a St.John's bar and burger. They have daily specials, with half off on Saturdays. There's also an ok dim sum place near AMC Mercado as well. Hope this helps.

The Sunnyvale TRU has gone to hell since corporate merged it with babysrus (the more profitable of the two companies) video game section feels so small and pushed into a corner. Even the toy areas are lacking severly.

If anyone sees Indy Mighty Muggs at a TRU or other store let me know. The Cupertino target near my house always seems to get the f'ed up mighty muggs that have messed up boxes. Tiss aggravating

Thanks for the heads up on some places around there. I'm not fond of ihop and benigans so more choices is always better. Wish that damn peppermil was still open i loved that place as a kid in fresno. I might just stick with the cafe food at work its still probably the best option i got. Just like variety cause its the spice of life.

These are maybe a little far from Great America if you're going for lunch or something, but whenever I'm in Santa Clara I go to University Chicken or Mayuri Indian--best Indian buffet in the Bay Area (so far). :) The dinner buffet is only on Wednesdays, though.

Yea University Chicken is good, especially since they have 50% off nights. It probbably wouldn't be wise to go there on a lunch break though since Great America is quite far from SCU. There's also a place called Rivermark which has a lot of food. Off the top of my head there is a: starbucks, jamba juice, fantasia coffe and tea, yan can cook, red robin, mcdonalds, safeway, baja fresh, and some other stuff in the complex. It's basically like Santa Row, but with food instead of clothes, and tons of parking.

I guess I was lucky with WW: Smooth Moves because yesterday, my friend (who runs the video game department) showed them to me and I picked them up.

Bzchan: I was at the Gamestop yesterday and I was gonna ask them for some guides but they were busy chit-chatting with some friends at the shop. If you can stop by there and pick me up a copy, I'll be glad to hook you up with a copy of WW: Smooth Moves for the same price I got it. :D

I'm not here to hoard or flip games (I find it to be a big hassle honestly) but rather trade them for things I need. I need help from you fellow Bay Area CAGers for things. ;)

--Michael

I know someone is gonna say something dumb, but in MY opinion, you should have left the other copies for the rest of the people looking for the game. Either that, or offer it for around Cost+Ship. That's what I'd do, and it's my opinion.

Also, In N Out is about 5 Minutes away from GA! I also remember seeing a Chipotle.

I'm not here to make money but to help you guys out! I am here to offer the price I got it (plus shipping) for things I'm looking for in return. I don't want the games to get in the hands of someone who is gonna flip them. :D

Hey guys,

I say this. Anyone one of you that comes to Garden City and plays a game of Blackjack, Baccarat or double hand poker (Pai Gow Poker) and visits me can get a copy of Wario Ware: Wii for what I got it. What do you guys say? :D

21 anyone?

I know. I was just saying.
You've offered in the past, so sorry if I came off negatively.

None taken Veronica. :D Thing is, I KNOW there are people who lurk on here and will head over and plunder the games.

My deal is this and it applies to all you Bay Area CAGers:

If I see multiple copies, I tend to grab 2 to 3 copies (if there are 5 or more) and if they're down to only 2 copies left, I'll snag them all. I will ALWAYS offer them to you guys only for the price I got them plus shipping or whatever. There are always things I'm looking for and I'm willing to work with anyone who can get me particular things for trade.

I like all you guys. Honestly, I do. There aren't a bunch of people who share the passion of the hunt and spoils of victory when we know about a deal that nobody else does. Now some of us tend to get cheap stuff and flip them to Gamestop or whatevers to get credit and that's fine. That's not what I'm here to do. I'm here to help you fellow Bay Area CAGers and that's what I'll continue to do...as long as you're on my good side. ;) Besides, isn't helping each other a reason why we're here on this site?

Fully agree. That's why I feel CAG is one of the best online communities around. Most of us are all here to help each other out.

ps. any chance you'd be willing to sell one of your warioware copies :)
