Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:
Wasn't the game retailed at $200? I remember it coming in a HUGE box.

--Michael
Didn't it come in an ammo box?

Now where have I seen a store that also uses that font, first word also "game", second word in a contrasting color? Hmmm....

I've been out of work for about 2 months (don't wanna get into that much - let's just say the job I had paid great but was not for me at all, so I left) - and I've been reallllly stressing about how to pay bills. I'm down to about $20 in my bank, and maybe $100 in credit (I didn't max my cards out in 2 months, but I'm not great with money. I have successfully been avoiding buying tons of crap I see on CAG though, since I've no income, and I hope to continue with this in the future...)
Well, I was at the end of my rope when I saw a data entry position in a town 45 minutes away, where my girlfriend has lived for the past year. And then I realized I had a friend working there. Got my first and second interviews, and was offered the job today. It's $9/hr, full-time, benifits after 90 days. It's not glamorous but it's a hell of a lot better than the retail crap I've been dealing with for the past few years. Now, just need to keep it together and not go crazy spending my first paycheck on movies and games ;)

Nothing like going online during the lunch hour of work. Jayzus it's hot, though. McDizzle's orange soda just ain't enough in this heat.

Grats Onions. If you need a good way to remind yourself to not overspend, just look at your bills, and whatnot. Always a good reminder.

Yeah, although my bills don't amount to much, really just need to look at my CC debt as a whole :D Going to make a real budget this time and stick to it.

Well I'm not technically in the bay area (Chico now), but this is close enough that I post here.
anyone felt that earthquake?
Pretty sharp jolt. At times like these I'm glad my consoles are horizontal. :)

I didn't feel anything... I guess it was when I was driving home from work. I'm usually really on top of this since I think about earthquakes just as much as I think about bOObies.

Thanks for sharing???......0.o

Totally didn't notice, although I was playing CoD2 on veteran around then so I may have been too distracted slamming my controller into the wall.

WEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm in Daly City, felt like a huge semi right next to my apartment!

Since nobody has written anything here, I'll post.

Since the beginning of summer, I went on the scale today and found out I lost 20 lbs. which I'm proud of. Of course, it's not over by a long shot but I'm extremely excited of my progress.

I finally turned on the Wii Fit and it's a nice alternative to do physical activity. Of course, nothing beats the gym and I wouldn't count on the Wii Fit for losing mass amounts of weight. Heck, you're better off playing DDR.

Also for those of you still messing around with your PS2s, know that Yakuza 2 is coming out tomorrow. If you get your copy at Frys, it's only $24.99.

--Michael

I played a little of Yakuza 1 and it was pretty fun, except then some other game came out (can't remember which) and I sort of forgot about it. I should finish it up now that 2 is coming out. The main thing I didn't like about it is the English voice acting really is painful to listen to and there's a fuck every few seconds. I'm so glad they kept the Japanese for 2.

Congrats on the weight, Civickid. Now that it's cooled off I need to get out and run more.
Was Yakuza 1 even any fun? the only one I know who played it was MarkMan.
Basically, it's an R-rated Shenmue.
So who wants to point me in the direction of where I can find Rock Band 2 early? :D
Yes. Indeed. I used to always be able to count on Rasputin to break street dates, but they don't carry new games anymore...just used :(

With the release date being a Sunday and no stores getting shipments on Sunday, it seems like no one cares about the date. I hope I can score a copy today. I''ll probably head out to Target in a bit to run my errands.
So who wants to point me in the direction of where I can find Rock Band 2 early? :D
I'm wondering the same thing, has anyone been able to find the game in the east bay?

::pushes crickets away from the thread::

Hey guys,

I was wondering for some of you that collect penny guides like me. Is there any bookstore in the Bay Area that takes guides/sells guides? I went by to Bookbuyers (in Mountain View) and I traded in 13 of my penny guides and got $43.00 in credit. :hot: I then used the credit to get some of the guides they had there.

Anywhere else does anyone know where game guides can be traded/sold?

--Michael

Haha, trading in guides for credit towards more guides... the cycle continues.

I can't recommend any place for trading in guides, but this reminded me that I did finally pick up the Mass Effect LE guide. Best Buy had it marked down to $17 and it was the last one on the shelf (in good condition, fortunately) so I decided I'd better grab it. The art book is wonderful. It's like an actual art book, opposed to the weak little pamphlets that come with LE editions of games these days. (Even the Mass Effect LE's art book was pretty lame, but this makes up for it... sort of?)

p.s. Mass Effect

OMG, my favorite 'guilty pleasure' TeleNovela has aired again this week... 'El Cuerpo Del Deseo' is back on Telemundo! \\:D/

That show is the bomb, I'm so excited that it's on again!! :D

anyone had any success with Target clearance?
I check the Dublin store and they got Lost Odyseey at $42
At the bayfiar store I piucked up Lost Odyseey for $29 and 20GB HDD for $25. They got another HDD left but it appeared to be opened.

Was Lost Odyssey the only game on clearance at Bayfair? You think there are still copies left?

Hahaha... most random post ever.

...

Is Lost Odyssey any good? Also, I picked up UT3 for PS3 at Target for $20. Great deal, especially since it supports keyboard/mouse.

You know, now that I'm reading the reviews for the game... The game doesn't sound all that great, since there's supposedly issues with loading times, camera controls, and an uncompelling story/plot/characters... I guess I'll just wait until this game gets cheaper, besides... I'm still playing Vesperia. Need to complete that before moving on to other games. ;)

I had UT3 some time ago, but I traded that game for a new Game Boy Micro (Red/Gold Famicom version) just before the price drop. Although I did like the game, I didn't have an extra Keyboard/Mouse at the time (I preferred that setup over the PS3 controller) and I was preoccupied with other games. Once I get a Keyboard/Mouse for the PS3, I'll consider getting this game again. :)

I did find about 4 copies of Lost Odyssey at the San Jose College Park Target store and they were selling for $29.98. I picked up one. I also did pick up a 20 Gig HD for about $24.88. So that means that a :360: might be in my future soon. If anyone needs a copy, let me know and I'll retrieve one. They also had WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 for the :ps3: for $19.98, along with the following:

:360:
The Club: $12.88
Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit: $41.88

:wii:
Battle of the Bands: $14.98
Blast Works: $9.98

:ps3:
Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit: $41.98
Bourne Conspiracy: $41.98

As for the Game Boy Micro Freeky, all I can say is GRRRR. I finally did put a special order in at my local Gamecrazy. So I should expect a new/great condition GBA Micro soon. Did anyone pick up Dragon Quest IV for the :ds:?

Lorena Rojas is HAWT!! Err, um... yeah, I'm Hispanic.

Whew at least it makes sense you watch Telemundo then. I won't lie though, I'm guilty of channel surfing and staying on Telemundo longer than I should have!

...Age of Booty™ is a casual real-time multiplayer strategy game...

Dear God, how many labels do games need nowadays?
...I guess most of it is okay except for the 'casual' part, which is is just a marketing gimmick.
