Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.

List

  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:

  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

attention all cags / n00bs:

DO NOT TALK ABOUT:
-Trading
-Selling/Reselling

DO NOT BEG AND FOR CHRIST SAKE, DO NOT CALL SEARS AND ASK FOR CLEARANCE.

Talk, ask, about your deals and report your finds. If youre from SD or FW and wants to post this list or any other list from CAG just so you can have your 15 minutes of fame, all we can say is FU.

Please trade your games in this thread from now on. if youre looking for any particular game, head over there as well. its stickied so it'll be easier to locate.

POSTING OR REPORTING YOUR FINDS :

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT SEARS, LIKE MANY RETAILERS, USES 2 DIFFERENT PRICE STRATEGIES TO DETERMINE IF AN ITEM IS ON FULL PRICE OR CLEARANCE.

WITH THAT SAID, HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD REMEMBER WHEN POSTING YOUR FINDS:

Games that ends in - .97 = Clearance Price
Games that ends in - .99 = Retail

Picked up Elite Beat Agents for $6.97, and cleaned out all of the Star Trek Legacy ($1.97) and Arcade Unplugged ($3.97) from 3 Sears to flip at Gamestop with the Trade 2/Bonus $10 deal... basically turned $15 into $105 GS credit :)

How does GS credit work? Does it just go on an account that is in all their computers, or do you just get a gift card from each store? Did you have to trade those in at multiple GS stores, or did they take multiple copies of the same game?

If you have an Edge card, they will put the credit on there whenever you trade something in. If you don't have the Edge, I think they give you a card to use for storage of your credit.

Did you have to trade those in at multiple GS stores, or did they take multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. It all depends on the location and the cashier.

lol why even bother posting Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix...

If I saw one of those at $9.97, I would be in tears. Has anyone seen one of those in the last year?
Well its nice to see a sears employee that wants to help, if it wasnt for self scanners at my hole I would never know if things were on clearance because every time I ask them to scan something I get " the prices are clearly marked on the stickers" lol
tell them u want to see the manager and they will think different. of course the sears i work in sucks and theirs prices are all over the place.

im pretty sure thought that most sears stores are the same and the employees dont give a shit to help u in eletronics if ur not buying a tv. they lowered the commision to 1% for almost everything but accessories and the latest 1080p tvs, so would u blame anyone for getting pissed at someone thats bitching about looking at prices for 20 mins.

i do get people which also do that and i get very pissed, yet its my job. o wow i spent 20 mins to make 70 cents.. whoppie

That's $0.70+ your hourly wages.... Hey no one forced you to work for Sears :) you have the sleep in the bed you make.
Actually it makes me sad. I would have traded you something for a Star Trek Legacy... CAG used to be about finding deals and sharing, not lining the pockets of GS, etc. Sure, the store credit is nice, but you could have also gotten pretty good value by trading on CAG to get other clearance games you wanted but couldn't find.

sometimes i wish we have a hall of shame thread. i could understand 2 even 3 copies of the same games to flip.. but who are we to talk when we encourage such behavior. no offence to anyone, but just look at the blockbuster/game rush thread. i still see the point to this though: you sell/flip games to feed your other gaming needs.

To me, the biggest shame is Gamestop gutting all the new copies and selling them used for probably $14.99 or something. Ah well, Legacy sucked anyway. At least it wasn't sealed copies of Ico.

jk but really like i said ur pretty much retarded imo if u gonna go out of ur way to look for games in sears, as for sears isnt a game store.

u wanna waste the employees time with scaning the games go ahead. but dont get snobby if they arent really willing to help, especially if ur wasting their time with just scaning... and if its a weekend to top it off.

people are morons which go to buy things in sears anyways. they will stare at the game case for 10 mins after they ask me if we have a game and im like no, yet they still look for it like its just gonna grow in the case or something.

ive also noticed when we dont have the game they want i suggest them to go to gamestop in the mall and they look at me like im crazy. they just gota have that wii game in sears.
u wanna waste the employees time with scaning the games go ahead. but dont get snobby if they arent really willing to help, especially if ur wasting their time with just scaning... and if its a weekend to top it off.
How is it a waste of an employee's time? They have better things to do than help customers? If an employee isn't willing to help someone, then perhaps they've chosen the wrong career.

Plus if it's a problem Sears should make it easier to have the customer check the prices themselves. First a pricing check machine needs to be in electronics and maybe they need to get rid of the glass cases and put the games in a security case like CC does so I can pick it up and take it to the price check machine.

How else are you supposed to find out the price if a game is tagged full price and locked in the glass case and you know it's on clearance?
How is it a waste of an employee's time? They have better things to do than help customers? If an employee isn't willing to help someone, then perhaps they've chosen the wrong career.
lol.. its commision. imo its sorta messed up to go to annoy the salesmen to constantly scan a bar code, as i would probably just ask for the games and go to the scanner. and the other guy is right that posted after u.

they should make it easy to know the prices. as for a career, lolz to the max. sears is a crappy part time job. the only people working in sears which can really call it a career are the managers, as everyone else is part time.. hense why sears has crappy customer service nowadays

as i said, dont be whining because the employee rather not waste 10-20 mins scaning video games to check if they are clearance. but like i said u also get people like me that will be glad to help.

the way that sears is built is mentally retarded. they should have a sales person for different catagories or at least a decent base salary for someone to care. people work for money, and like i said if u walk up to me ill be glad to help as long as u dont like a crazy amount of time on a video game.

btw i do get base $6 a hour but still, thats all i make without selling, or if i sell little crap like video games.

im gonna guess ur not stupid thought and u know why some people are nasty about scaning games for u. its very much sears fault for their structure. if u go to circuitcity u have a person in only video games.. as well as bestbuy. but to get to a bigger point. sears isnt a game store, but they do carry games for the general public.
as for a career, lolz to the max. sears is a crappy part time job. the only people working in sears which can really call it a career are the managers, as everyone else is part time.. hense why sears has crappy customer service nowadays
I was gonna use quotation marks, but I didn't want to offend anyone working for Sears. That is weird that the stores don't have self-scanners, though. I'd rather do that, since the Sears employees are almost always busy when I visit the stores by me.
Gamestop marks up DS and GBA games $5 all the time. The key part of MSRP is manufacturer's SUGGESTED retail price. Just because a company says, "you should sell product y for $x.xx" doesn't mean the store has to.
for some products it's more than just a suggestion. if you don't sell their product at the price the mfg wants you too then they will hurt you by not selling you anymore product, sending you less of a product (i.e. you may not get very many copies of a hot new release game), withholding merchandising payments (they pay stores a certain amount for displaying their products in a particular manner), etc...
im gonna guess ur not stupid thought and u know why some people are nasty about scaning games for u.
Of course, they're lazy people who don't want to do their jobs. Unlike what shieryda said, I rarely run into constantly busy clerks, I usually have to break up a group chat to get help. And it doesn't take 10-20 minutes to scan games unless the clerk has serious issues. On the rare occasions that I had someone scan a bunch, it still took 5 minutes or so.

Most of my Sears stores don't like customers walking off with an armload of games to scan them in another department (since there aren't any scanners in electronics).

Back on topic, I'm seeing a ton of the clearance titles at my stores, but most of them are stalled at high prices. For example, ST Legacy 360 is stuck at $20. It seems like many of the local chain stores (Sears, TRU, Target) never hit the lows that other areas report.

well u will be suprised with some people. this guy wasted like 15 mins with his daughter to buy a game for the ds and because i had to keep the case open i didnt walk away

are ur certainly right. if there arent any customers or very little most of the time there are groups formed and its disrespecful to the customer to have to walk up to a bunch of sears employees fighting over who will help because they rather stay in there circle talking about random crap

but thats due to the structure of the store like i said..and to get back to topic heres a tid bit from a insider source.

the back stock room tends to have tons of games u dont see out. being that i worked there i have occasonally looked and one day was told to check for clearance games with the snic(the scanner which prints clerance tags).

i got ape escape 3, and i found a few others but they werent worthy to be bought. alot of poker games for the ps2 though... hmm wonder why.

and btw if anyone has any questions on anything ill check it for u, but just to let u no theres really nothing in the store i work in. so its more or less questions on how pricematching and ect works in sears

OK, take this for what you will, since I shamelessly stole this info from SlickDeals, but someone on there who claims to work for Sears and got this info from their 'SNC'(whatever that is) has a supposed FIRM date for the seemingly long rumored price drop for the Gamecube systems.

While not as good as the Shopko deal, where they're $9.99 at some Shopko stores, this is just as good and STILL better than buying one from RipoffStop.

Here's the quote:
Hey everybody, just got word from sears corporate that gamecubes price will drop to $19 from $99 starting March 5th. In our back room we have a regular system as well as the metroid prime bundle, both will be $19, i'll grab the sears stock numbers tomorrow so you guys know what to ask for, but I just wanted to get this news out early so you guys could spread the word.

I'll go back and re-check the thread I found this in and see if I can't grab the stock #'s too.

EDIT: Here's the stock #'s someone else posted for the Metroid Prime Bundle and just the plain ol Gamecube:

Gamecube metroid prime bundle sears stock number 90054

Gamecube regular system sears stock number 90053
hense why sears has crappy customer service nowadays
Are you proud to be part of it?

Sure, scanning game after game after game for somebody must get annoying fast. But, do your job dude.
On the other hand, I would not ask anybody to check a bunch of prices for me if I see that the store is f'n busy. I prefer to do that when it's slow.

I'm planning on printing out UPC's for the Gamecube systems and scanning them at the price checker before I ask an employee to get one out of the case. I've had my eye on a Metroid bundle for years (when it was reported to be $49.97 but was still $99.99), and it's gone so I'll have to settle with a Platinum system, no game included but it will be great to leave in the car for that price.

a sears around me has marked the Black and Platinum ones to $49.97 so hopefully they get this drop because I will snag up a platinum one. I have never seen a bundle system there though.

What were the trade-in values you got for these games before bonus?

For the record, I have no problem with this type of thing. It's only going to funding other game purchase. It works for me and seems to me to be true CAGness. In fact, I just bought 6 games from a Sears for $21 and am going to trade them in later today. Arcade Unplugged x 2, Star Trek Legacy, Eragon, Kameo GH and Kameo (not GH). I'm not expecting that to turn into $100 of gaming madness, but if it does I'll be very happy. I'm going to visit another Sears tonight to see if I can find anything else. I'm wanting to fund either a Wii (partially) or maybe a copy of Rock Band (PS2) on the cheap. So sue me.

I picked up a copy of Eragon at my local Sears in Florida for $3.97. They had 20GB HDD drives for $38 and all sorts of other things there. I think that is a nearly untouched store or something. They had the whole bottom of the case stacked with games. I did not remember to get game names off of the list before I went. I am going to go back tomorrow night and see what else they have. I am going to pick up as much as I can. They also had Gamecube bundles at this store, there was no price on them. They were not marked.

I have a question, if something is marked at say $24.99, is this the price that I should assume that it is? or should I have them take it out of the case and have it scanned? I am trying to find MS points for cheaper. I guess what I am asking is, is the sticker price always going to be the price that will scan?

It is kind of in a mall that is slowly dying a slow death. That mall has not been crowded in a long while. There are some stores left there, but walking into the mall last night was like walking into a cemetary. It was creepy, there was like no one around at all.

The price stickers (if there are any) may not be correct. So, yes, scan! None of the games I picked up today had stickers at all, and all were for $3.97 or less.

Arcade Unplugged - $3
Star Trek Legacy - $7
Kameo - $3 (don't think they differentiate between GH and non-GH)

Don't forget to take out the 1 month xbox live subscription cards from Arcade Unplugged before you trade them in. :)

For the record, by "cleaning out" I don't mean that I walked in and bought up 10-20 copies of each game per store. The stores I went to had 1 or 2 copies (or none). I bought 1 copy each, then stopped by a week later and bought the other if it was still there. Total of 3 copies of Arcade Unplugged (plus 2 from my collection) and 5 copies of Star Trek Legacy. Sorry if that puts me on anyone's "Hall of Shame" list but I don't find it immoral at all to do this type of thing and take advantage of Gamestop deals to get more gaming for my money.

I'm more than willing to help out a fellow gamer if I know what to look for beforehand, but coming home to post a tradelist, trying to hunt for someone who wants what I have right now, waiting a week and getting uninteresting offers or no offers at all, etc. just isn't the same as walking 3 minutes next door for a good value and having the credit on my card for whenever I need it.

how bout you dont select the one thing u can jump on and read what i wrote in its entirety.

if u read i stated i thought the store is a joke because of its structure.. but i do my job and i would even say i do it well. i can see u said u wouldnt do it if the store is busy.. but why? ur the customer and customer is first.

it really shouldnt matter on the circumstances but at the same time it does for the employee which is making jack shit if they just help people with games all day.

fortunatly i would say the only people ive seen come to buy games are mothers which are trying to shut their kids up,teens, or 40 year old guys which go on sites like these to see if they can find some weird ass game to trade with people. but thats just my experiences. i usually sell tvs for the most part, and many are stupid because they impluse buy from the little info i provide to make a desicion like that.

but thats sears. as for i can see if u wanna come if ur in the neighhborhood and theres a store near u. other then that sears is a place i would try to avoid. if u need appilances or tools go to lowes or home depot.. at least u get people which know what they are talking about, as for the products in sears have gone soo down hill for the past 5 years.

but to go back on topic. like ive stated if u have any questions on how sears works with pricematching and stuff ill answer

Snake, that seems like the MO for any retail store here nowadays, convince the buyer to spend as much money as possible while in the store. A lot of parents buy kids clothes at sears here, since they are the only store that stocks plus sized girls clothing, so I think some of that traffic filters into the games and electronics too, which means you get a horde of soccer moms buying video games to shut their kids up.

I live in Florida. I'd really appreciate knowing which mall you are talking about. I understand if you don't want to let out this juicy info, but I'd keep you up to date with whatever savings I find there if it's in driving distance of me.

I'm siding with you guys on this one. I don't support hoarding, but it ain't like these games are moving fast out of the stores in the first place.

I was just saying on another videogame board the other day that I did my first Gamestop trade-in in over a year just because my tradebox was getting too full. That trade-in included 360 games from Sears and K-Mart that I've had for over six months and can't return now to recoup my money.

The problem is that even though CAG is a great site for finding deals, almost everyone on here has the same games now and that makes it harder to trade them away for other things of equal value. Add in the fact that everybody posts the same trading threads looking for new releases, popular games (Halo 3, Orange Box, Bioshock and Persona 3) and uber-rares, and we'll all just end up sitting on extra copies of Kameo and Unplugged that we're not gonna play.

Frankly, I don't have the room and there are too many budget games coming out that I would actually want to play. For instance, 2 copies each of the two aforementioned games netted me Balloon Pop (Wii) and Patapon (PSP) earlier this week.

Sorry for the treatise I wrote here. I know it's off-topic, but I used to enjoy a good trade, you know?

Ya, hopefully when that new mall opens it will close down. So many good memories to of when that mall used to kick ass...

I scanned the barcode for Virtua Tennis 3 (Xbox 360) and it is now $1.97. Unfortunately this particular Sears didn't have any copies.

At another Sears I picked up Kameo x2 ($2.97), Eragon ($3.97), Star Trek Legacy ($1.97) and Arcade Unplugged x2 ($3.97). All for just over $21 with tax. I traded them all into Gamestop for $54.20 credit + two 1 month Xbox Live cards from the AUs. I don't know how you got over $100 out of only $15. I guess that was lots of copies of STL?

This may seem like a dumb question. But when you trade the brand new games you just got. Do you still leave them in shrink wrap??? Just curious if this may be a problem with a GameStop employee...

I've heard of some that left the shrink wrap on and GS wouldn't take them. So might as well take it off.
