Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

yeah, they are instructed to not sell them. its hard to get them to price it manually. the way me and other people had done in the past is that you make sure that you have other items that are similarly priced. they know its $4.97 since all the rest of your items are. so they do it themselves. even that though, could still be YMMV.

there are also times when i pretended i didnt know and i was sort of talking to him about how cheap their stuff is and what not. just make small conversations, pretend to be nice to the guy and sometimes they'll give it to you.[/quote]

I've never had a problem with sears not offering an item that rings up out of system for the marked price - the employee probably just wanted to make the purchase himsself. In most cases you should very easily be able to argue that since it was on the sales floor they should sell it to you. Its similar to a sale price still being marked on an item no longer on sale. Usually they have to give it to you. Unfortunately, anything I've found to ring up out of system is still marked way higher then the last clearance price to be had - Chromehounds that mysteriously appeared in one sears case way after it was out of system and was tagged at 22.97 - grrr.
 
I just got Buzz TV for $9.99 on Sunday. They had one left. I had been there a couple weeks before and it was $24.97 and the lady at the checkout told me her manager just had her mark it down because he wanted it gone. So YMMV on that one!

Yeah, exact same thing happened to me years ago with the GC version of Zelda:Four Swords, except the dude said "Guess it's free then" and stuck it in my bag for nothing :bouncy:
 
Sears/Cool Springs Galleria: picked up :360:Lost Odyssey for 14.97 today...they still had one copy left. most everything else was 29.99, not many stickered with April let alone May reductions.

It's not so much environmentalist gamers as really cheapass gamers. I'll buy an HDtv any day of the week for 95% off, but $200-400 and I'll say fuck that.

Hell, I couldn't bite on a $700 HDtv here(which had case damage and a watermarked screen though)when it was $175 @ my closest Kmart last year and it was a name brand tv no less(Sony).

They only used the big clearance tags so there was no indication of date of drop on the games. Some games were tagged right and others weren't so there may have been more drops and the above games may be lower if they were at that price before. Also, they had a big clearance sign over the cheap games bin and a bunch of the game tags were just stuck to the sign. I also saw clearance tags on PS3 Turning Point 20, Haze 19, Folklore 15, Simpsons 15, Buzz 25, Heavenly Sword 20; Wii Far Cry 10, Obscure 10, some Puzzle game 10; 360 Stranglehold 15, Simpsons 15, Turning Point 15; PS2 NBA 09 10.

Scanned a bunch of games at the local Sears and everything is still on the April pricing. Was hoping the May drops would be in effect since someone posted a few days ago about getting the May drops (most fell about $5).
 
While shopping at sears I went to the dollar bookstore next door & found a near mint Lunar Silver Star Story Complete Official Strategy Guide for a buck. Oh yeah I grabbed up the last copy of mk collection for 4.97.
 
My friend works at Sears, he gives me the mark down lists printed off his CPU. The markdowns start May 9th. He said April 9th last month and was dead on. But I guess its also YMMV slightly as far as when your exact store will mark down.

that's all i can remember. the guy working there said that once a game goes clearance, the game will drop $5 every month until it drops to 4.97 and then if they still don't sell, it goes back. so it looks like either buy the game now or roll the dice and hope it is still there and it drops to 4.97. my sweet spot is 9.97. i'll buy a turd for 9.97.
 
The worker was wrong, plenty of games have dropped past $4.97 to $2.97, $1.97 or $0.97. All the value UPC games were $4.97 at one point and they all went to $0.97.

It was mid-April (around the 17th) when April drops finally showed up.

Also, there have been many cases where games fell from $19.97 and $24.97 directly down to $4.97. Only now (the past few months) I've noticed the $5 per month pattern. Which is actually a smart move by Sears, but sucks for us CAGs since most games will probably not last to the $4.97 price point.

Heck, I think in about 2 or 3 months, all sears will be done with the gamecube. The last games are going, and I don't think there is anything that isn't clearanced now.

Its not YMMV, but the thing is Sears generally has different stock that goes on and off clearance sometimes from month to month, so the prices you see on the op may not reflect the price of it for the current month or the previous month, since looking at the Contra 4 price it was back in march and were in May now. And if you purchased it a few weeks ago, it would have been April clearance.

It is still in white because the op probably hasnt had the time yet to update it, but now that you have posted it, it probably will update soon when the op gets the chance to go through parts of the new threads etc. But yeah, for the most part its not YMMV, the ones that gets updated generally get updated for every store.

Yes, Sears clearance can be YMMV.

I had a Contra 4 scanned the other day, and it still rang up at $20 as well. And this Sears NEVER marked Contra 4 down at all.
 
Price checked Superman Web of Shadows for the PS3 at $19.97 a couple days ago. I was going to pick it up when I was leaving but somebody else came through in the 10 minutes I had to go into the mall and bought it. Oh well, if I really wanted it I would have bought it ASAP.

Same thing with me. I've scanned Contra 4 ever since it was first mentioned and it's always been $19.99 at the various Sears stores I visit.

god i wish my store had contra 4 left in stock. my store still has 1 Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia that I am hoping will drop soon. I didnt hide it but its in a very obscure endcap where the games shouldnt be, but for some reason Sears decided to fill that endcap with games, so works for me. Come on drop!
 
Has the original Persona 3 ever been clearanced at any point in time? There's a copy lurking behind the glass at the local sears, but it's still stickered at $49.99. Before I go through the arduous process of having an employee unlock the case and then try to convince them that the game MIGHT ring up at a different price I just wanted to see if there in fact was a high possibility that it would be a lower price.

Man, I can't believe people are still finding the Warhawk bundle! I have been looking for that for ages. I figured they were all gone.
 
Not sure that this has been mentioned, but if 1 certain sears has a game you want for 5 bucks, and another sears has that same game for $20, you can always buy the copy for $20, and return/rebuy at the Sears that would have had it for $5.
