Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.

List

  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:

  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

attention all cags / n00bs:

DO NOT TALK ABOUT:
-Trading
-Selling/Reselling

DO NOT BEG AND FOR CHRIST SAKE, DO NOT CALL SEARS AND ASK FOR CLEARANCE.

Talk, ask, about your deals and report your finds. If youre from SD or FW and wants to post this list or any other list from CAG just so you can have your 15 minutes of fame, all we can say is FU.

Please trade your games in this thread from now on. if youre looking for any particular game, head over there as well. its stickied so it'll be easier to locate.

POSTING OR REPORTING YOUR FINDS :

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT SEARS, LIKE MANY RETAILERS, USES 2 DIFFERENT PRICE STRATEGIES TO DETERMINE IF AN ITEM IS ON FULL PRICE OR CLEARANCE.

WITH THAT SAID, HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD REMEMBER WHEN POSTING YOUR FINDS:

Games that ends in - .97 = Clearance Price
Games that ends in - .99 = Retail

Picked up some games for the PS3 today - Timeshift for $1.97, Folklore for $9.97, Iron Man for $4.97, Turning Point for $4.97 and Condemned 2 for $4.97. Also picked up Spiderman Web of Shadows a few days ago for $9.97.

The store I went to also had all the PS2 Guitar Hero Bundles for $14.97 with GIII games or GH:Aero and Wireless guitars.

today i picked up:
Table Tennis (Wii) - 1.97
Game Party (Wii) - 4.97
Nintendo DS Browser - 8.97
Chicken Shoot (DS) - 0.97
Singstar '80s (game only) - 1.97
Singstar Amped (game only) - 1.97

I was a bit bummed today.
According to the list on the front page, MS 1600 point cards are less than $4. Well, I found a store with 2 of them, and had a worker check the price for me.
I was rather shocked. It scanned at $24.99. Why would any store sell 1600point (19.99) cards for 24.99?

I was rather shocked. It scanned at $24.99. Why would any store sell 1600point (19.99) cards for 24.99?
It might have been a clearance on the point cards that came out in the old "blister" packaging.
You know, I wonder this too. At ever Sears I see they sell them at 24.99.
Because unsuspecting consumers might just buy it because jr asked for a 1600 pt card.

very sad that my old hometown sears got rid of all there games but a few. the sears in spartanburg sc has some ps3 guitar hero bundles left 2 aerosmith and 1 gh3 or vice versa. sad day indeed
At St.Pete Tyrone Mall I got.

Brothers in arms hells highway 9.97

Bourne Conspiracy 9.97

Crackdown 9.97

Shadowrun 1.97
Were there anymore Bourne?

I picked up Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for $30. I doubt it qualifys as a deal, however I couldn't just pass it up (and it was in the clearance bin)

That's actually the retail price for that collection- Still a respectable purchase.
Were there anymore Bourne?
I don't think so the only ones they had another copy of was crackdown and I think a Bros in Arms.

Got Singstar Amped for $1.97. Guess I'll just trade it in towards BlazBlue for $6.60 at gamestop...was going to spend the $2 on BB anyway, may as well make it $6 :)

I also found a mismarked Planet Puzzle League at $19.99...it rang up as $29.99, so that was an error, but they gave me the marked price.

I hope all the $9.97 games drop to $4.97 next week. I will make out like a bandit!
I still see the original print of Persona 3 (with the bonus items) at various SEARS stores from time to time. The shrink wrap on every copy looks extremely worn; they've been sitting there for probably the full time period this game's been released. They ring up $50 every time too...
Saw 3 of these today. Checked the price just in case but it did ring up at $50.

Employee at my area sears said that there is a kid who comes in and buys up all the clearance games and sells it on ebay or trades them in at gamespot. The kid says that there's a forum that tells him which games to get.

To that kid: you are a fucking idiot/tool.

Isn't that kinda what this thread is? :/

I bought the one copy that my Sears had back during the "hype" when people were reporting them selling out all over the place. I paid full price because I thought I would not be able to find a copy if I waited. Now I see it at several stores near my house including K-Mart and a couple other Sears.

If this happened I would probably crap myself,.

Do we even know if there are going to be drops next week though? All I've heard is that stuff is going OOS.

Don't listen to the other guy, I have the VOM list unfortunately I found out it is only for my store (hence why I can't post it; gives away my location.) Maybe 1/10th of all clearance is on there. It's like PS3 Intercooler, Singstar Amped, Jumper (the systems that didn't go OOS last month), Jeep Thrills and other stuff that's $4.97 or less.
I really hope that doesn't happen, there was some $4.97 stuff I had hoped would drop lower.
lol... I know this is cag but give me a break.
That depends. If it takes me 30 minutes to pry one of the social butterflies away from their coffee klatch by the HDtv's for long enough to get something outta the case for me, then I might kinda 'oops' a couple games out of place.

This is assuming they even let ME root around in the case, but more likely they just ask me to point out which game I want out of the case and then point to the WRONG one for 5 minutes. Repeat per game until they think I'm going to get pissed and leave without anything so they can get back to yapping or until I'm done checking shit out.
you are buying 99 cent games to trade for more money and you're bitching about poor service? seriously?

Love the folks at sears! Found a bin that had nothing priced right, but it had nothing in it anyways. I look in the regular case and find all the reduced games in the bottom. I then find one of the employees and get him to price check a couple games, next thing I know he's calling gamestop to find out trade in values after he price checks them for me! For anyone who's looking they have a pretty good selection at the birmingham AL sears in the Galleria. Picked up a lost odyssey for 4.97. The sears employee found out it was worth 9+ trade in at gamestop and got one for himself. He then tells me if I have an edge card I get a bonus, sometimes I just have to laugh.

Actually, I've been buying them for myself to PLAY as of late and I've never usually found any .99 games, since they get cleaned out way before then around here.

You work for Sears and are one of the aforementioned coffee klatch assholes who stand around bullshittting and hoping that the customers wanting something from the game cases go away, aren't you?

To me, if you're not going to help a customer if they look like they actually NEED help, then find a different job. Otherwise, if I come over and ask for a PC on something, don't act like you're doing me a favor by just doing your job.

This. Maybe I am getting old, but I am sick of employees acting like I am inconveniencing them for asking for something out of the case or a P.C. I don't know if kids are getting dumber or just becoming assholes or both.

Every time I ask for a P.C. at any store the employee is quick to point out the price tag or shelf tag for an item like I somehow missed it or was too lazy to look at it. I think I am teaching America's youth (one idiot at a time) that in the computer age a price can change in the system, but the one that is on the shelf or the product itself has to be changed manually to be correct. Every time something rings up at a different price than what it is marked they act bewildered. The best part is if I do not buy the item, they put it back in the same place with the same tags and they will be just as confused next week.

I find it funny that I routinely have a better idea of the price of a sears/kmart/TRU/target game than any of the employees. They always have that shocked look on their faces like "oh shit, I should have bought it for that price!"

It's frustrating how unhelpful some of these guys can be but really, it is a shitty job and I'm sure I'd be just as lazy too. That being said, it's a recession so these guys should be happy they have a job :p!

Didn't find anything at the Rego Park, NY sears, but I also didn't look that hard since I was looking for other stuff at the time.

Second'ed. It shouldn't matter what the price of the item is that you are buying, you are in their store and you are a customer willing to purchase something. If you are purchasing a .99 game today and they give you good service you just might be back to make a larger purchase down the road, so you should be treated fairly no matter what you are buying. There's a reason those games went down to .99, because no one cared or no one wanted them. They should be happy they are able to sell them to someone.

The problem at my sears is there are computers set up in each department now, the one in electronics is complete with desk and chair. The employees sit on the computer all day and surf the internet and are completely oblivious. Not that there are any customers in that Sears to help 80% of the time so what they are doing is fine.

No wonder companies complain and complain that retail sales are down across the board, if customers can't get employees to open up the cases then no merchandise is getting sold either, thus bringing down sales. IMO if you are a store that locks up merchandise, an employee should be in the same department as the case all the time if you expect to sell anything. MOST customers will not chase down an employee, they will leave without buying anything and most likely forget about purchasing the product they were intending to purchase on the way home. If they are really set on it they will drive to another store instead of wait around for 15 min for an employee to show up to open the case. Customers are very impatient and you have a very limited window of time to get to them if you as the employee/store want the sale.

Not games, but semi-gaming related, I saw the following at two different Sears:

Boston 5.1 Speaker System $275ish. That's 60% off their price. I got a set for a little less when Circuit City closed and I really like those speakers.

This is so true, except this is also the reason that we get great deals, because Sears sucks at selling video games. If they fixed all these problems and got better at selling games, ie priced things correctly, were helpful, then it would be like best buy, easy to buy from but at full price.

These same things bother me but it's why we get the deals.

I'm always amazed by the sheer number of Sears employees that I see standing around doing absolutely nothing, and just how lazy they are.

At the one store that I go to, the one electronics guy (there never seems to be more than one in the electronics section, despite the plethora of employees in other sections) is often nowhere to be found, while there are always five or six employees just staring off into space over in the appliances across the aisle. Don't ever ask any of them for help though, even to simply find the electronics guy. If you ask them for help with the electronics, they'll claim no knowledge of it whatsoever. If you ask them to help find an electronics employee, they'll wander off and never come back. The one time one of them did actually try to help me, he fumbled with a huge ring of keys attempting to open the game case for fifteen minutes before declaring he had no idea how to open it and that I'd just have to come back later.

At another store that I went to a few weeks ago, I picked up a game that I wanted and went to the register. There was a line of five or six people in front of me, with the guy at the front of the line arguing in Spanish about trading in a hammer under the warranty (apparently the hammer he wanted was bigger by about a quarter of an inch than the one he was trying to return, and this was an issue), and a single cashier to deal with all of them. Meanwhile, there were four other employees standing over in the appliances on one side, and six standing over in the tools on the other, all doing absolutely nothing. I even heard one of the tool guys mention that one of them should probably go help the cashier, and then make a joke about it and walk away. It was pretty amazing.

Really, based on my experiences in Sears, I'm pretty sure they could cut their workforce in half, and no one would even notice.

As someone who works on commission at a retailer mentioned in this threads as a summer job, I agree with the price check sentiments, that it is my/their/everyone's jobs. The reason that people don't like to check prices is because commission isn't the highest rate on video games and they think that they can magically sell a TV/Dyson vacuum to everyone who walks through the door. But, I take the opposite approach.

How do I make my money on commission? I go to EVERY customer and ring up every sale I can, including the .97 games, the $4.99 SD cards, etc. Those add up a lot quicker than you think and it sure as hell beats waiting around for the magical 4 TV sale to happen.

Sears stores generally make the most money on Craftsman Tools and Kenmoore Appliances, which should explain the appliance salespersons and amount of help in the Craftsman sections. It really is a wonder that they even carry clothing or electronics because, in my understanding of articles I read during their restructuring, they often lose a great deal of money on their larger ticket items.

Yeah, I mean, I understand that those are their big money making items. Would it kill them, though, to do a little bit of cross-training, so that when the appliance section is dead and a customer needs help with something simple in the electronics section across the aisle (not necessarily answering detailed questions, but rather opening a case/ringing up a sale), they can do so?

Anyway, sounds like you're one of the rare good employees. I'd almost say that I wished you worked in the stores that I go to, but then you'd be competition for the deals! ;) I guess that when it comes down to it, I probably prefer dealing with the hassles of lazy employees who don't know anything over having clued-in employees who get everything good before I get there!

The Sears that I frequent should actually hire a few more employees. It's not the service/laziness there that I complain about, but the issue of not being able to get an employee to help you for 5 minutes. I can't get any help in the games section (which has it's own check-out register), because the employees are usually busy over in the tv section, which also has it's own register.

Hoping for some drops next week!

Saratoga Springs, NY Sears

this morning I saw:

Brothers in Arms hell's Highway PS3 $14.97, 360 $9.97
Civilization 360 $9.97
Haze PS3 $9.97
MLB the Show 2008 PS3 $14.97
Some other assorted stuff

I grabbed the Civilization

I think they need to fix the schedule a bit at my Sears. On some days, theres only two employees, who are both keen on helping the flow of people who are looking for tvs instead of assisting on a $10 game sale. Other days, you see 6 employees just huddled around the register chatting.

Agreed, I went to a Sears last week I only get to every few months. In the past they had a ton of clearance games all with old pricing. Last week I saw everything was correctly tagged which meant the cheap games were all gone. I always get more games at Sears where everything is tagged for full price or mixed in with the regular games.

Not to be rude, but all these posts relating to employees are making it hard for me and other CAG's to find recent clearance prices. Back on topic please.

If you want the deals, you gotta work for them, not expect every post to be on topic and pointing out the best deals. I long ago resigned myself to just skimming through the threads I follow the most(Sears, Kmart, TRU, Target, Reduced Price Guide threads)since the yammering about inconsequential stuff won't stop, no matter HOW MUCH you want it to.

Plus, the talking about lazy ass Sears employees(no offense to those who contribute to this thread and DO work for Sears)IS on topic, since it deals with Sears in some way, shape or form.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Sigh.....seems my sears decided to actually mark all items correctly now AND set them out with all the other clearance games. Bye bye good games.:bomb: All the good ones were gone where before they were locked away in the case incorrectly marked at full price.

Bravo. This is how it should be done. Take pride in your job, no matter how big or small and this world wouldn't be full of such poor customer service. I'm as cheap as the next guy but I'd pay more for good customer service.

Exactly...he's just making me want to make more of those sorts of posts, if they might make at least one lazy lurker lose interest. Keep yammering everyone.

Also, it's been weeks since the last drops and it's still another week before the next ones so what are we supposed to talk about anyway.

Stopped by Sears today and picked up:

:360: Shadowrun $1.97
:360: Jumper $1.97
:ps3: Lair $6.97

And yes, I fully expect Jumper to be absolutely awful (the movie certainly was, though I remember thinking while watching it that it would probably make a better game than a movie, so who knows), but for under $2, why not? ;)

Why do you say that to me? I've seen like 1 post on clearance prices per page recently. The thread is getting ruined.
