No ... I bought a Submerged code from gman and it is not for immediate play. Loads on your console, but it is locked until the release date. Which was fine with me.

I bought one also. Can be played now. When you go to play it will say you're too early. Just click on see in Xbox store. Then you can hit play and it starts up.

Sure enough works! Thanks, was going to be gone from 8/7-8/15 ... so I can play this a week early now instead of a week late.

Thanks ... just got home from work and started it right up.
 
FYI, for those of you in the Preview program, Gears of War 1 is now BC and should show in the "Ready to Install" section on your :xb1: if you own it digitally.  You can also plug the disk in and start the install that way (but you will need the disk in the console to play the game).
