FYI it's not that cut and dry. A Gold trial works to get the :xb1: GwG, but once your Gold expires you lose the ability to play the game. :360: GwG works like you think (no trials, own forever).

Yeah I know, I don't use the Xbox One all that much so I'd like to be able to download the game & play it later on when I do buy an active Xbox Live membership. Looking through Google says I just need to have a Gold Membership on my gamertag I downloaded it first with an active Gold in order to play.

Dude, just buy a 12 month membership. They're $30 in box deals or here. More convenient.

The lack of resale value kills it for me. Only game I've paid over $45 for a digital code was probably MCC and I won't do that ever again.
