I bought my X1X on launch and called today and got a free code, perhaps I got lucky. They did check my account too see if I actually had one before issuing a code tho, I only mention it because I noticed someone else on CAG selling a few units claiming you could redeem for your code prior to having it on hand.

Nope, purchased it from Best Buy. I registered the serial number and then chatted support about it. Ten minutes later, I had a code.

I bought mine from Amazon and I just called Xbox customer service 1-800- 4MY-XBOX and said I had an X1X and needed assistance getting my free PUBG.

Yep. They said I first logged in to my Xbox One X on Nov 7, the promo started on Dec 17, and they couldn't do it.
