I guess I didn't miss anything. If fact, have I missed anything since I have been to the update a couple of weeks ago?

You missed a couple of excellent updates last week.

last week had two very good updates. best in weeks.
last week had two very good updates. best in weeks.
only if you wanted SNES or Dreamcast stuff. If you was looking for PS1 rpgs or Ps2 rpgs then the last 2 weeks sucked big time i though the last 2 weeks were the worse ever
Guess it's done. Crappy update.

I stayed up for this?
Yeah, its not worth it . . . just skip the update :)

Everybody else, don't bother getting up early.
I am enjoying it, but if I had paid $50 straight up for it as opposed to $45 in giftcard, I might be a bit more letdown. The defense is really crappy, as is the running (you can't choose who runs - they either all go or no one goes). But it has an awesome party game appeal with 4-player baseball and some cool mini-games and fun 1-player RPGish (well, it has a world map, that counts as RPG, right? ;P) mode that I am just getting into.

For $30-$35, I would be pretty happy but $50 is a bit much for too many annoyances. Then again, Goomba making his bat look like a penis when he charges up and being able to use the Hammer Bros in all their different forms in a baseball game is kick ass!

So conflicted! XD
My brother picked it up the other day and at first I had the same feelings as you do. Now that I've sunk a significant amount of time into the Challenge Mode I can say this game is extremely fun and somewhat addictive.

Yes the base running can be annoying, but what you said is kind of misleading. You CAN choose who runs... as in RBI baseball back in the day, you just hold the control stick in the direction of the player you want to advance and hit the y button. The problem is when you intially hit the ball everyone on base automatically starts to advance. If you pop out or hit a quick grounder this can lead to some annoying double or even triple plays that might have been avoided otherwise. At first that really pissed me off but after a while I got the game down to the point where that rarely happens anymore.

As for the defense being weak, if you're talking about the AI you probably just need to try one of the harder circuits. While popping an air ball is always gonna spell trouble, the harder the difficulty the more aggressive and skillful the fielders become (as you would expect them too). So I don't see a problem there. If you meant from a player's perspective, I think that it's another case of getting used to the game. I really never had a problem with fielding, you just need to put people with the right skills in the right positions (aka don't put baby mario out deep cause he can't catch a ball to save his life, and don't let Yoshi waste away behind the plate when he could be preforming diving tongue catches as a short stop.) All and all I think it's a very entertaining game.

OK back to the update... kinda slow today but thanks to the person who posted Street Fighter Revival for the GBA, I might have to pick that up.

I really want to try Mario Baseball. I love both golf and tennis. I actually have put in dozens of hours on golf and have only 1 more character to unlock. Hopefully baseball won't dissapoint. When does the soccer come out?

Also, this game probably won't show up as preowned for a while right? How long do you guys think?

I snapped up Mario Baseball during Outpost.com's $34.99 sale - I don't regret it one bit. The challenge mode, as somebody mentioned earlier, is very fun. The price likely won't go down much in the next year - Mario Power Tennis is still $49.99 new/44.99 PO 10 months after its release! With 25% off, though, it's a decent deal, so you may wait for the used copies to show up.

Super Mario Strikers is due in November or December, I believe.

problem with Nintendo games are 1st party title..unless they bomb always stay above 30 for 2 yrs...hell look at MK: DD... i still see that is like 34.99 used most places...

Look at Melee. It's still $30, and it came out a couple months after launch. On the plus side, it makes me feel better about buying your Metroids and your Zeldas at launch.

OH MY DEAR LORD! I did not know that! Awesome! ^_^ That clears up a few grumbles!

See, the times I have played (which, I will admit, is like 15 or so games), even with decent to good fielders in the positions, the holes between first base and second and second and third base are HUGE. No defender is ever close to those when I play, be it one player or against friends. Maybe I need to put a top fielder there every time, but I have seen little difference so far in those two spots and it makes me mad everytime a quick grounder goes through for a single, heh.

The game is a ton of fun, especially with other people, but it's just not polished enough gameplay-wise for a Nintendo title, for me at least. But $35 new - damn, you would be hard pressed to fine a funner way to spend your time right now. ^_^

Namco made Mario Superstar Baseball, not Nintendo.

Touche salesman. ^_~

PS: I just played a couple hours worth of multiplayer on that game - I change my mind, this game is damn sweet. If you have friends to play with, $50 for this game is still a good deal! If this comes in used soon, it should be jumped on right away!

Heh, yes... I mentioned this in another thread, but for those of you of age, its a fabulous drinking game. Strikes are plentiful even for "good" gamers.
