Speaking of Dreamcasts ... I just made a deal w/ someone and have one coming my way. Does anyone have suggestions on what games I should get (anything but sports). I'm not too familiar with what Dreamcast games are available/good.

Hey Number83 ... I had no intentions of going to Reading but coincidentally I went down there for a different reason altogether over the weekend and you were right about there being nothing at that Best Buy. But you may care to know that the EB Games thats at that strip mall area where the Barnes & Nobles, Chilis, and Smokey Bones is has a few good games. I saw Disgaea, Alundra, Wild Arms 1 and 2, and Lunar and a few other good ones.

the best thing on dreamcast imo are the fighters. some really good ones are street fighter 3: third strike and fatal fury: mark of the wolves. also last blade 2, king of fighters '99, street fighter 3 alpha. great multiplayer games: power stone 2, virtua tennis (or tennis 2k2). there are many more that i can't think of since it's too early in the morning.

Get the 15 for 50. It's a good deal. Personally, a few of my favorites are:

Record of Lodoss War (Hard to find)
Expendable
Crazy Taxi
Power Stone 2 (Really hard to get)
Tech Romancer
Shenmue
Sword of the Berzerk
Typing of the Dead...Need Keyboard attachment

It's a great system that had terrible support. You'll enjoy it.

That one is pretty good! I go there all the time...Also if you go to the Gamestop, next to Walmart on Berkshire Blvd they have a ton of complete PS1 games. And employees who actually help. Highly Recommended!
that's weird how they came back in stock. i haven't seen that happen before.
its happen before. Same with Saga 2 when it first updated they had 5 in stock then it jumped to 9..

yeah horrible 3rd party support...
Big support in Japan... check out the import shops...
They still release new Dreamcast games in Japan. Might want to import some of the shooters, like Ikaruga, Border Down, Chaos Field, Trizeal, Psyvariar 2, Zero Gunner 2, with Bangai-O, Mars Matrix, Giga Wing 2, Cannon Spike, and Gunbird 2 being released here... Also, it has some excellent RPG's, like Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, and Shenmue. Some good fighting games would include Project Justice, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, Power Stone 1+2... Jet Grind Radio is good, too.

Buy anything Capcom made for the Dreamcast, they're the one 3rd party developer that put absolutely everything they had into it.
do you have to mod the dreamcast to play import games?
nah you can use a converter disc. a cheap one you can get is called cheats 'n codes vol. 1.

Interesting. Does EB sell this?

I cant wait to get the Dreamcast. I'm more excited about playing Dreamcast games than I am 360 for some reason. Any more suggestions about what games I should get?

EB used to sell it i'm pretty sure back when the Dreamcast was in its prime. now your best bet is ebay. here is what you want: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sega-Dreamcast-...oryZ4303QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

you probably won't find it much cheaper than that.

Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia, Crazy Taxi, Tokyo Xtreme Racer are a few more you can look into. the nice thing about the Dreamcast is that, save for a few classics, most of the games are dirt cheap.

You can just download and burn a boot disc.

I'd also pick up a Dreamcast VGA box, the 3rd party ones work just fine. Forgot to mention Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves, Guilty Gear X, Gundam Side Story 0079, Last Blade 2, Record of Lodoss War, Sonic Adventure 2, Starlancer, Virtual On, and probably some more.
the Utopia disc which you can burn is illegal. it also has problems with certain import discs. and yeah Starlancer is a good game too.
I don't think Sega has cared for a good long while about the Utopia boot disc.

probably not. just stating what it is tho. it does have problems running certain import games however.

StarLancer is one of those games that was better on the console than on the PC for some reason.

I think you can play imports with this too, althought I am not familiar with it. MAybe someone else is.

i never played it on the PC. the DC-X disc used to be sold by EB but as you can see it's a more expensive option. Cheats 'n Codes Vol. 1 is the cheapest i've seen and it works great.

How does the Cheats 'n Codes Vol. 1 disk work to play imports? I'm curious as I would like to start getting imports as well. thanks for the help.

Its too bad Starlancer used the Windows CE libraries, the graphics suffered a ton because of it. Great game anyway though, and theres a sequel on PC called Freelancer.

damn me.. i should have been up eariler.. I wanted a DC...(the deal for mine fell through).. oh well.. i did score a free NES that i just have to fix (and replace the pin connector.. ) but the NES games on the site are getting really thin pickings.
haha, those were like THE games i went out of my way to pre-order back in the day, mainly because they were the games i wanted to play the most, maybe i was ahead of my time?
Unfortunately back in those times I just did a lot of renting. And since FF3 could be used for some who-knows-how-many-hundreds of hours of gameplay, the others weren't necessary to have at the time.

Darn, the one day I sleep in, and I miss the return of the Dreamcasts. I ordered Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, and a VMU on Thursday and got them Monday. It's funny, I did the free shipping, and it was sent 3 day UPS and I didn't get charged extra. Sadly I have to return Jet Grind Radio though, it's deffective, but Shenmue did come complete.

Damn... I would have definately snagged Starlancer. I have it and Freelancer on PC, but I've always wanted to have it on DC. Of course I prefer games like that using a Thrustmaster joystick (I grew up on Wing Commander and was a Janes/EA flight sim freak), I've wanted to try it on the DC. How much was it?

all you do is put the disc in and then there's a button or something on the screen that says 'start game' or something like that. you hit that and then it'll tell you to put in your game disc. that's all there is to it.
Its too bad Starlancer used the Windows CE libraries, the graphics suffered a ton because of it. Great game anyway though, and theres a sequel on PC called Freelancer.
i have Freelancer but i haven't had time to play it due to my schedule. i need to try it out one of these days.
$19.99 before coupon
Is this considered a good deal?

I bought Paper Mario complete with the original Nintendo strategy guide for less than $20 shipped on ebay about 18 months ago.

Of course I haven't played it at all :)
the Utopia disc which you can burn is illegal. it also has problems with certain import discs. and yeah Starlancer is a good game too.
If you use it to play games you don't own, then yeah, it's illegal. Burning it and using it for imports is just fine. A little gray thanks to the DMCA, but not something anyone will care about.

actually the DMCA doesnt cover the dreamcast considering it was released in 1999

Anyway, if anyone didnt get one today you shouldnt worry, there should be alot coming up seeing as how xmas is coming and EB tends to have alot of these around that time

Wwwwhhhhaaa? ^__^ Are those hard to find and/or expensive...?
1 left ;)..

bought wild 9 earlier because of the bongos, and now this after..but only 2.39 with free shipping so didnt mind the delay ;)

btw the link for this on the first page of this thread is incorrect
Are those Sol Divides finally going to sell out? Hehe. ^_~
