What should I do? I have basically come to the conclusion of getting rid of my SNES....I know I know but most of the games I would want to play I can via the gameboy player on my cube. Anyway I really really love Starfox and that is the only thing holding me back from selling it. So do I keep it or let it go?

I am in the same boat. I have a small Snes with 2 controllers all three DKC games, both SMW games and a few extras i enjoy every once in a while....

But so far i have kept it.

I hooked mine up just a week ago and can't stop playing it. i play lufia:fortress of doom, final fantasy 3, chrono trigger and i just got Link to the past. The RPG's are awesome, try to find some if you can.

What's a used SNES worth? $20? I say keep it. I've always regretted it when I got rid of consoles (PSone notwithstanding, due to backwards compatibility).

I love my SNES as well as a lot of the games, but I've gotten to a point when I would never really have all my systems hooked up at once. I haven't sold or traded the system itself as it isn't worth much, but I have traded a few of my games, almost all of them very sought after. To me it's just as or more convenient to play them on an emulator than to bust out the system every few months.

Almost guaranteed that you will regret it if you sell it. It won't bring you much cash at all, and you'll want to play one of your games (or some other game for SNES) one day.

Well to be honest it would get me maybe $40 or so as it is the 2nd model SNES. I noticed how everyone is listing RPG's as a reason to hold onto their SNES but the truth for me is this:

I have played RPG's for too long. It started on the NES and ran up until the PS2. The truth is I now hate RPG's. I don't really know what is was that made me feel this way but I just can't bear to play them anymore.

I think the SNES is going. I still have Starfox 64 to keep me company anyway.

I personally hate my 64, and would sell on it as seeon as some one wants it. But my snes, nes, ps2, dreamcast, gamecube, atari 2600 are like my best friends. My 64 is like one my friends i only hang with when i'm drunk. Even then we alwasy end up fighting.

i like my 64, it just isn't my PS

You're just at the low point of the 3- or 4-year RPG cycle. Don't worry, you'll probably feel the craving again in a couple of years.

Sell the SNES, keep the game, then download a SNES emulator, and and download Star Fox and play it. It should be all legal since you still own the game.
I could be totally off on this. I am sure I will find out.

ROMs are legal as long as you own a copy of the game (its considered a backup) nintendo frowns on it though no matter what.. but it is legal.

Unless you really, REALLY need that 40 bucks, just keep it. I mean, why not? It's a 2nd model SNES, so it's not gonna take up much room. And there are other good games for it other tham RPGs (although, I'm not sure how many are system-exclusive these days.)

If you really don't know, I say go to digitpress.com, or an online store that handles old school, and do some research. I personally believe that if you can identify 3 games for a system that you want, that you can't get on another system you have/want, it's worth having. Starfox is one- go find another 2 games. If you really can't, then you know it's fine to sell. (but hold out for a good price, OK?)

Honestly Starfox (even with the average at best last two games on GC) is my 2nd favorite Nintendo franchise behind Zelda. I would not sell it just for the fact that the system has more sentimental value than monetary value at this stage.
The SNES is the best system ever. Why don't you get more games?
b-b-b-but rig, there is no lunar game that can be played on the snes, therefore, how can it be the best ever?

no, its not legal, dont spread lies around here.
if you believe it that educate yourself, we have plenty of nice long threads on this site that will help you do so.

Hmmm....well, although Lunar is the best game ever, it wasn't made for the best system ever.

(There, I covered that pretty well, methinks! ^^)

Ha, good cover rig. I agree though snes had the best rpgs ever. I still play final fantasy 3, legend of zelda, lufia:fod, and chrono trigger. I wish i had earthbound back. I loved playing that too.

man, i know i'll never let me snes go, you'd hafta cut off my dead rigor mortis hands to get it.

every year i play through chrono trigger, FF VI, secret of mana and Lufia II
it's like reading a great book over and over.

but if rpg's aren't your game, what about super mario all stars, rock n' roll racing, street fighter II, contra, castlevania, earth worm jim, mario kart, super bomberman 2, Super Metroid and so on and so forth?

SNES is the best system ever, no other system comes close.

I used to LOVE RPG's but the love has withered. I owned super mario all stars, street fighter II, Zelda, Castlevania, Earthworm Jim, and Super Metroid...but I just played them to death I think.

It's just that I have Zelda on the GBA\GC player. Street Fighter II I have on the PS1 in the collection 2. I played earthworm jim 1 too many times that as great as it is its just no fun anymore. I have all the super mario games on the GBA\GC player as well (along with a japanese import lost levels) . Not too mention 1 again in Animal Crossing.

I'm just not thrilled with keeping the system for a handful of games.
