Old Spice's new spokesman is ...BRUCE CAMPBELL?

I actually saw a commercial last night on Adult Swim for this campaign. At first I thought it was something Adult Swim was joking with until I saw the "Old Spice" logo at the end. And that ship painting behind Bruce during the commerical has to be at least 13 foot long! Top notch all the way!
So... how soon will it be before we see "Old Spice: Zombie Killing Scent" edition?
I'd buy that if it came out, I'm not kidding.

When I saw that, the first thing that popped in my head was: "Damn, that's one long painting of a boat...."

Makes me an even prouder user of Old Spice though I don't use the "cologne" just the deodarant & body wash. Love that Red Zone.

*THIS* is the guy who's too good to do Ash again?

fuck him and his overrated self.

This is just a touch less surprising than the Joan Jett Cadillac commercial.

He's currently doing a movie that deals with some fans of his taking him somewhere to save the world.
B Movie Legend Bruce Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon.
My Name is Bruce

You can say he did it for the money, but from what I heard second-hand about what he said about the crowd's hygiene practices that came to see him a couple years ago at a local university, he might be doing it for the betterment of Humanity.

Bruce Campbell :: "basement dwellers"

as

Oprah :: Housewives w/o capacity for independent thinking

Think of all the good the man could do!

I've seen interviews of him where he said the lack of a new Evil Dead movie was entirely the fault of "Sam (Spider-Man) Raimi" being too busy with other projects. However, those interviews were a few years ago. Didn't he just do a video game where he reprised is role as Ash?

BTW, is it me or does Bruce Campbell in that Old Spice commercial look a lot like Andy Kaufman.

Get fucking over it. He made a commercial, he got paid and it's a funny commercial.

Does it just scramble your brain that a B movie actor (perhaps the B movie actor) is doing a commericial?? When A listers do that shit all the time? There's a chainsaw in the background, even.

When you've made some kick ass movies and entertained me, then maybe I'll cut you a little more slack.

I'm not playing the Bill Hicks "If you do a commercial, you're off the artistic roll call" bit. I'm merely pointing out that Campbell things rather high of himself (in the projects he does and those he declines to do) for someone doing commercials for a product a notch above "Aqua Velva" on the class scale.

Get over it. He's a working schlub actor, just like 95% of the SAG membership. The Evil Dead stuff made him famous but that is a two edge sword. It also cost him a lot of roles because he was famous for that particular thing. Fanboy adoration does not pay the bills. If he comes off as arrogant it's because that is how he's cast.

Listen to the audio production of 'Make Love! with Bruce Campbell.' It's a very funny satire of relationship manuals and how Hollywood works. He doesn't pull any punches against himself in that one.

I don't mind Bruce being a total asshole apparently. I mean think about it. You're typecast as a guy about 5% of America has heard of while your best friend takes the mantle from Steven Spielberg as the new big budget movie director of our time.

Yeah, but Sam shares the wealth by offering parts like Ring Announcer and Snooty Usher. :)

It is kind of fun to play Where's Waldo? with Bruce Campbell in Sam Raimi movies.

I so have to see that.

Anything I can do to get more Bruce, I'm happy with. Why do you think I still own Spider-man 2 for GC?

I need to see this Commerical now! Im a big fan of Bruce Campbell's. I wanted to say that His B Movie status has actually sorta raised him to a A list Celebrity. But i believe i read that interview with him as well About Raimi doing other movies then making another Evil dead Movie. But i tell you what.....BUBBA HO TEP was a great freaking movie!

Great commercial. I was talking about it with some friends of mine, and we agreed that his casting was brilliant. The only other person we could think of for the ad was Puddy from Seinfeld, but I guess he's busy enough since he's got that Rules of Engagement sitcom coming out.

Just saw the commercial for the first time yesterday, I wasn't sure it was him until I remembered this post. Man that guy has gained some weight.

Have you seen the other one? About manly activities "such as basketball, recon, and... frenching." The Bruce Campbell one is better... but that line cracks me up.
