Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

I had two weird things at Gamestop today. First I walked in and some guy standing there said hi to me and I wasn't sure who he was as he wasn't a Gamestop employee. So after walking by him I turned and looked at him again and noticed he was a security guard. Pretty weird as I've never seen one at a Gamestop before. Then when returning a game from the buy 2 get 1 free deal last weekend, which kind of surprised me they let me return just 1, I got $40 back in credit and $2.43 back in cash. Weird as well since I always pay with credit from my account. I picked up the new Batman after trading in 2 games on the trade 2 for $50 list as well. Couldn't find 3 GTA5's though to pick up and flip back though. Might check another store to look for 3.

With this b2g1 free, it's pretty tempting to get another game for $20.

I have NBA & FIFA, which both trade in for $40 each. Could easily trade in those two for $80 and buy them again along with another for $20.

Tempting...

 
So no one knows what "member updated" means in our PUR accounts?  I want to trade in a single copy of GTA V (haven't traded it in before) and then use the credit for b2g1 but I don't want to open it up if I'm banned from trading...rather just return it and get my $65 back.

I don't think "member updated" has anything to do with being banned. On Tuesday, I had to show my I.D. for the first time for some new law in my area and the day after is when it appeared on my account. I was able to trade yesterday with no problems.

Can those of you that got banned, help the rest of us out in terms of what you were doing to get banned? i.e. how many trades you did, what games, etc?
I would also like to know more details. I imagine they just went wild with Pokemon/GTA flips and drew too much attention to themselves, but if that's not the case, I'm interested to know the details.

I only did 2 sets of Pokemon and 3 copies of GTA, so it would be very disappointing if I get banned for that. I'm very close to 100k PUR points and was saving in case they did another 3DS/Vita coupon or something similar.

On insistence of the employee that I know and frequent and as I was curious to find out exactly why I was banned, I called PUR customer service and they told me that I was not on any hold or blocked lists. I was curious so I went back to a store I frequent and employees I know to do a test trade. Turns out, I can still do trade ins as I apparently hit the glass ceiling of trades (apparently there is a limit) so they have to override the POS prompt. That prompt means my PUR account is corporate blocked meaning no matter what GS I go to, using that account will not let me process trade ins as it will pull up a message on the POS without overriding it (even though PUR customer service said I wasn't blocked). I actually sat out this coupon flipping but that didn't help nevertheless. I was going to get another PUR card just in case but I have slowed down so did not bother with one knowing I can still use my same card. Granted it has to be to the folks I know as it will trigger the message every time on the POS.

For those wondering, ban from trade ins just blocks you from trade ins but you can still buy and return games. Your PUR points still accumulate and you are still able to use any points or coupons in your account. You just can't do trade ins.

I have a feeling it is a combination of things like high volume trade ins in short period of time (iphones / ipads), High returns and or multiple buy ins and trade ins of duplicates in high quantities on the same account. One will definitely get a ban hammer if they do high cash trade ins. Also, I can attest that the POS updates they have put in place are now able to track everything because they are linked to PUR site so they see the activity at the same level on each account as you would. Hence, the wave of ban hammers on the accounts that stand out. They don't need to see your trade ins at store level, corporate level sees it and does trigger a red flag on unusual activity that is automated.

Can't return or trade. Didn't affect my credit, ability to buy or my PUR points. The returns suck though because I have a couple things I was going to return today that I just don't want and won't be able to recoup anything on. Also worries me what's going to happen if I get a defective used game or something.

I had gotten the warning when doing the trade in but I haven't been back to my local stores yet. I know one for sure doesn't take ID when trading in. I thought it was just the card that got banned, but if they are able to still block me with the new card that is gonna SUCCKKKK.

Ouch. What sort of volume of trades were you doing, both before and through this B2G1 weekend? Can you share approximate numbers of the same game same platform? Any idea of what in particular raised the flag?
Honestly not nearly as much as most people would expect, probably not even nearly as much as Hemi. Friday I did maybe four or five GTAVs across both systems, maybe a dozen total of the various pokeflip games plus another half dozen of Diamond on it's own. I was doing a couple of trade twos a week, usually with at least one game that was a duplicate. That could very well have done it but I'm sure it was the half dozen iPhones I flipped that got me on their radar and then if they did do an update designed to weed us out that just cinched the noose. Then again it could have been all the over rides from the first night of the B1G1 or any number of other things or it could be the total summation.

I was specifically told that I was blocked from returns as well and this wasn't someone who would BS me because he didn't want me at his store any longer.

Like I'm not terribly upset about being banned, I absolutely deserve it and it will allow me to actually play games (since this was the only way I could justify spending money on games) instead of spending all my time at GS (doubtful). It does have me majorly stressed out about paying off the rest of the PS4 and really screws me on BF4. Going to have to find some reason to venture farther from home and hope everything holds a couple more days.

I only used the B1g1 twice (for a total of 4 poks) and both times I traded the poks in for a new game the same day at a different store.  My PUR log shows I only traded Pok @hite 2 in once, although I traded it in twice (the other 2 being Diamond and Black 2).  II tries not to double dip on the White but I couldn't find a pearl anywhere. 

 
Out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea when gamestop stopped selling fandango gift cards?
Just came back from mine and I saw it there.

Also, today I went to trade in some stuff and the employee saw my account and it said my total savings for this year is ~$1,000+ and he started laughing and saying holy sh how is that possible.

For those who got banned, what's your savings around? Is mine abnormal? Lol
 
Odd, because I was still able to do a return. Like I said, in my case it could be because I hit that glass ceiling.

Says around $1500 but would be higher if it didn't keep dropping down.

My paranoia meter is so through the roof, I'm probably stopping all GS-to-GS flip plans after having done the GTA V B2G1 "transfer" once and the B1G1 twice. :lol:

That is the true culprit my friend. The first reported banning was due to this. After you got on their radar, you were playing with borrowed time.

 
I'm expecting it when I go in Monday. Going to go to a GS I never been to so I if I really am none of the people I normally go to won't know.
Well if you're going to a store where they don't know you then don't use your card. Either trade without it or sign up for a new one.

By the way since no one ever answered same address and name worked with a different phone number/email.

You could be in the same boat as me then. As initially I was denied but when PUR said I was in the clear and the manager cleared it with them the next day, they were able to process trade ins. They just did not know initially how to move forward (override) that prompt and now they do. There was no e-mail in my case (at least not yet :pray:).

 
I did 5 GTA 5s on Thursday 3 360 and 2 PS3 ones. I did 1 Pearl, Diamond, Black 2, and White 2 on Monday with override. I did that same combo Thursday with the coupon working.(only 4 sets) I didn't trade anything back to any GS that has the same DM. I'll find out Monday if that was enough for a ban.

Well if you're going to a store where they don't know you then don't use your card. Either trade without it or sign up for a new one.

I don't intend on going here again. I have extra PUR pro cards waiting to be used, I just want to find out if my main was banned.

Which is why I didn't hesitate after that beyond not getting myself alienated at the stores I frequent.

I think there's more to it and it's intentional that it's all coming down now. While we all traded excessively I suspect if you look at mine, Hemi and DS2U's trade history there wouldn't necessarily be an obvious overlap to point to beyond that.
 
It's used so they probably could. I'm sure most decent managers would probably make sure you get an exchange at least.
Actually they have a guarantee that preowned games will work, so yeah in that circumstance I can see them making an exception, But otherwise you would be screwed.

honestly, from the frequent posters who bragged/ posted on this thread about the "certain flips", they made during the trade 2 , and gta v . They will be more soon.

cash out your gs credit to amazon, dump your games at a loss at bestbuy, get kindle cards, or at amazon. basically move your credit all to amazon, and get it there, even with the heavy burden of state taxes.
