Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee
This information isn't guaranteed by any mean and we are still working on nailing it down.

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

Yes sir but it is YMMV. My gamestop key holder told me they received a memo from corporate to only accept official units but others have reported success locally.

Okay can someone tell me wtf is going on? Everytime I trade in an adapter towards DKTF or Titanfall, I get $33.xx. Then I pay the rest with my trade credit. And when I go to return, EVERY SINGLE TIME no matter what GS I go to for some reason I can only get the 33.xx back and the rest in cash. I'm not complaining since I planned to convert the credit into cash somehow but still, does that only happen to me?
This exact same thing happens every time I return something that I paid for with trade credit--the pre-tax total gets put back on my card, but the tax has to be handled separately. I accepted it in cash once, but I usually provide a GS gift card (not my PUR card) that I have to which the employee can add the tax. It's annoying, for sure. :bomb:

I was going to hold onto it for a few reasons.  My one friend has 360 and we sometimes stay in contact that way.  He moved.  Not like we don't communicate in other ways though...we haven't been playing anything.  We were maybe going to get a game and I was going to get a Live subscription again. Don't seem worth it.

I also own a few games on the XBOX but that's not even really important to me.  I never played them anyway.  I suppose they'll still be tied to my username.

If I can get $90 for my 4GB slim then I think I do it.

Also, I want to buy PS4 with it but what if the store has none in-stock?  Do I have to find somewhere in-stock?

Thank you for anyone who can help me.  I want to go now that I think of it.  Would really rather trade it and give my friend money to buy a PS4 if anything.

I usually don't regret getting rid of things but getting rid of my 360 was my biggest regret. I miss it. I figured I wouldn't play it anymore after getting my ps4. My ps4 gets played maybe once a week. My X1 gets the most playtime along with the 3DS. If I had my 360 back I would be playing it.

I was wondering if I might feel the same way. What games do you own for PS4 vs XB1 and what do you play so much on X1? TV? Entertainment? Odd that you regret getting rid of the 360 when you have X1 too. I definitely didn't expect that unless you just had a lot of games you liked still.

You would have to go to a store with stock or pre-order the inFamous bundle they have (assuming they don't give you a problem getting the bonus).

I'm in the same boat as zero. I barely play my PS4 now. When inFamous comes out, I am sure that will change but my X1 gets most of my time (360 as well with South Park and DS2).

The ps4 exclusives, for now, kinda suck. Knack is a joke. Decent but gets repetitive very fast making it bad. Killzone I heard is decent. More of the same but just a mediocre title or possibly slightly above average.

X1 has Titan fall and DR3 which are both very solid. Ryse is a decent QTE game. Forza I heard is a solid racing title.

Basically PS4's good exclusives come out later (the order, Infamous, uncharted, N++) while M$ brought their giants of their system out early as their later exclusives for this year are more mediocre.

Games I own on X1:

Titanfall - amazing. IMO the best game and a must own for FPS fans

PvZ Garden Warfare - pretty good. Not my favorite but fun for a relaxing time.

Dead Rising 3 - great game. The best in the series or at least tied with 1. Lots and lots of fun.

Forza 5 - great, especially with the drivatars and amazing graphics.

Killer instinct - really solid fighter and worth the $20 if you're a fan

Stuff I traded:

CoD Ghosts - okay on single player but awful multiplayer. Just don't like it and I'm a cod fan.

RYSE - one of my favorite new games. Only traded because I could get $45. I'll likely buy it again.

I mostly use it for tv (my wife does, I'm not a huge tv watcher), but I play games more on it than my ps4.

Ps4 games I own:

Battlefield 4 - really awesome game, but it's a mess. Broken game and I can't play the campaign still because of a glitchy save file that they can't fix.

Lego marvel - a lot of fun if you're a marvel fan or lego fan.

Rayman legends - one of the best platformers in awhile, just all around great.

Injustice - decent. It's basically the other versions with a better frame rate.

Ps+ games - mixed bag. Contrast and don't starve are okay. Dead nation is just okay too. Resogun and Outlast are really really good though.

Stuff I traded:

Killzone - worst launch title so far. It's a beautiful 1080p turd. Seriously I couldn't stand it.

Assassins creed IV - good stuff, my favorite in the series possibly.



Overall the ps4 could very well be the better system this gen (definitely has a better lead and more devs on board along with more powerful hardware). But either way they're both great and got off to a great start. People love them some Sony right now but tend to forget that xbox has been pretty fairly consistent since it's iteration. The only reason they did so well last gen was ps3's insane price and awful hardware lineup for the first 2-3 years. Not until after they got hacked did they really buckle down and get stuff going in their favor.

The ps4 is at a great price and offers a great experience. But ultimately it's an upgraded ps3. The OS is sleek, the graphics are better, and the controller is nicer. Honestly that's about it. The x1 is more "next gen" despite being a little less powerful. The devs may get to where they can get better graphics, but then again RYSE looks better than anything on ps4, and it's only 900p.

I had both systems at launch and that is about the best description (no fanboi bs) I've heard yet plus1zero.

Only played titanfall a few times so far and all I can say is wow. It's a breath of fresh air for shooter's. Activision will regret letting those guys go.

Xbox added snap, multitasking and HDMI in. They also made kinect a big part.

PS4 is an upgraded and refined PS3. While the PS4 can add all these software features later, they won't be able to pull in video (HDMI in) without hardware changes.

It just depends on what you expect. If you are looking for features to be added, no PS4 failed in that sense vs Xbox 1

If you are looking for upgrades in power, ps4 succeeded as dominant console.

if you want power build a pc if your are gaming for power and are using a console your doing it wrong anyway! i have xbox one and love it i also have a 1600 gaming rig for blizzard games mmo's. play the hell out of both will never buy another sony console only bought ps3 because of blu ray.

From what I've read, yes. You can also return the system you bought the next day or so to get credit with the 50% bonus included.

Question for CAG

Could I trade in a game for the 30% bonus and return the game to get credit with that 30% bonus included. This is exactly the same for the systems but with games and accessories instead.

I've had good luck with the adapters so far, just have to limit it to 3 per month! I'm on number two already in March! Multiple accounts would work but not my style.

how many adapters do you think you've traded in? whether it be on both accounts or the one that got banned
I guess the limit is 3 now. I've done 3 on this account.

Question about these things, do you get banned after trading in 3? Or do you get banned when you have traded in 3 and try to trade in more?

 
Even though I dont own a PS4, Wii U or an Xbox One, my interest in them is as how they were listed.

PlayStation 4 - Easily the best console for me personally. Their first party games will blow away Xbox One and Wii U just like PlayStation 3 did. Granted, they're starting out slow but EVERY console's launch as been average at best. The last good one was Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64 and that was only because it was revolutionary at the time. While I dont have any interest in Infamous: Second Son, I do have interest in The Order: 1886 later this year as well as Naughty Dog's franchises. One underrated exclusive is Knack. People bash the game because of how it looks, plain and simple. If it was an M rated game with blood and gore but exactly the same gameplay wise, people would be praising it. Add in their other exclusives and it wont even be close when its said and done. Third party games between PS4 and Xbox One are better on PS4 because of the visuals, etc but other wise, are basically identical so no major advantage their for either console. Another positive for PS4 is their Indie/PSN games. Xbox 360's XBLA games were good to great and easily better than PS3 but thus far, it looks like PS4 is going to win that battle as well. And no, im NOT a Sony fanboy. I definitely favored PS2 over Xbox but favored 360 over PS3. It seems like it switches with each generation. Also think that PS+ is a far better value than Xbox Live Gold and unlike Xbox Live Gold, you dont need PS+ for apps, etc. Of course, for me personally, I dont give a damn about any of that stuff so its all meaningless and doesnt affect my opinion one way or the other.

Wii U - Simply, I have Wii U over Xbox One because there's actually four exclusives that I want to play right now for it but no third party games. That's why PS4 is number one for me. Exclusives AND third party games plus Indies/PSN titles. But back to Wii U, the thing that turns me off to the console is the lack of third party games which has been a problem since Nintendo 64 and the entire Wii Pad setup. I'm old school and still prefer wired controllers. I'm simply not into all this other stuff. It's great for those who are into it and whatnot but like Kinect, PS Move, PS Eye Camera, etc., its just a gimmick that will eventually die. Just a matter of time. The exclusives are the only reason why I have Wii U ahead of Xbox One. Well, that and I can transfer my Wii virtual console games over to Wii U. Cant do that on Xbox One or PS4.

Xbox One - Their exclusives have never really interested me at all. I'm not into FPS that are in a "war zone" type setting which they all seem to be plus I have no interest in playing online. Everyone is praising Titanfall yet from what I have read, there's no single player campaign. It's strictly a multi-player game. No single player plus it being a FPS set in a "war zone" type setting eliminates me having any interest in it whatsoever. Dont think that im praising Killzone though because that falls into the same category as COD and BF. The only exclusive that I have any interest in right now for Xbox One is Ryse: Son of Rome. Next would be Quantum Break which if it turns out to be like Alan Wake is quite simply, going to be one slow paced boring game. I'm hoping it doesnt go that way though. Quantum Break isnt expected until 2015 at the earliest. Add in the non-existent XBLA exclusives thus far, the $100 difference and being stuck with "should have been killed off by now but hasnt" gimmick called Kinect and for me personally, there's no reason whatsoever to purchase an Xbox One. And while it doesnt affect me, having to pay for Xbox Live Gold to use apps is bullcrap and a rip off plain and simple.

Overall - While I think that Xbox One will surpass Wii U this year some time, I dont think that it will catch up to PS4 because even when Xbox One gets a great exclusive (like Titanfall for example), its not going to matter because not only does PS4 match it, it surpasses it. The exclusives that will eventually be released for PS4 will simply be better than the exclusives for Xbox One. By the time Watch Dogs comes out, I will have SIX games that I want for PS4, FIVE for Wii U and just ONE for Xbox One. Hahahah, I guess thats why its called Xbox ONE, there's only ONE game for it that I care about. LOL. In the end, I will most likely buy all three consoles but PS4 is the main one right now with Wii U later on and Xbox One at least two years away for me personally.

In the end though, to each his/her own.

The ps4 is at a great price and offers a great experience. But ultimately it's an upgraded ps3. The OS is sleek, the graphics are better, and the controller is nicer. Honestly that's about it. The x1 is more "next gen" despite being a little less powerful. The devs may get to where they can get better graphics, but then again RYSE looks better than anything on ps4, and it's only 900p.

Even though I dont own a PS4, Wii U or an Xbox One, my interest in them is as how they were listed.

PlayStation 4 - Easily the best console for me personally. Their first party games will blow away Xbox One and Wii U just like PlayStation 3 did. Granted, they're starting out slow but EVERY console's launch as been average at best. The last good one was Nintendo 64 with Super Mario 64 and that was only because it was revolutionary at the time. While I dont have any interest in Infamous: Second Son, I do have interest in The Order: 1886 later this year as well as Naughty Dog's franchises. One underrated exclusive is Knack. People bash the game because of how it looks, plain and simple. If it was an M rated game with blood and gore but exactly the same gameplay wise, people would be praising it. Add in their other exclusives and it wont even be close when its said and done. Wish I understood everyone's beef with knack. I had a blast playing it coop mode and scored the platinum. I guess few like linear J&D type games with superb graphics. I guess we need more war zone shooters lol

He is saying that the xbox tried to vary some by adding to the console not just updating the innards.

Xbox added snap, multitasking and HDMI in. They also made kinect a big part.

PS4 is an upgraded and refined PS3. While the PS4 can add all these software features later, they won't be able to pull in video (HDMI in) without hardware changes.

It just depends on what you expect. If you are looking for features to be added, no PS4 failed in that sense vs Xbox 1

If you are looking for upgrades in power, ps4 succeeded as dominant console.
Snap, multi-tasking and HDMI in? LOL ok if that makes your GAME CONSOLE "next-gen" ROFL..whatever you want to believe.

Playstation has always given better excluives. Probably a lot of it is based on that.
