Please try to follow the example below if possible. If you feel the need to use the system icons, please only use them once at and at the top of the list. Also always post the system it's for even if it's only on one system or the value will not get updated. I don't always know it and I'm doing these updates from work to keep them as updated as often as possible so I can't spend time searching for that info.

These trade-in values are really low!
While that may be true, if you combine the games with the right promotion they can work to your advantage. There are knowledgeable people in this thread that are normally willing to help.

Is there any way to look at what the previous values reported on a game?
You can search through this thread and previous ones to see what a game has been reported in the past. With the TIV Tracker you can sort by date and then go through the list of past updated values through that as well. Can I trade-in sealed games?
No. You might come across the rare GameStop that would let you do it, but they are going to open them anyway.

I don't want to get hassled about the values I post, how can I get the information out there?
If you do not feel comfortable or willing to put the values in the thread you have two options available. You can input them in the TIV tracker or you can send them to me via PM. Either way the database and these lists will be updated. Putting them into the TIV tracker does save me some time later on.

Do trade-ins have to have their original case, insert and manual?
No, however it will be YMMV on if they charge you a refurbish fee for them in that condition. Most GameStops wont charge a fee but there are some that charge for incomplete games.

Will they accept my game if it is really beat up?
YMMV. It really all depends upon the employee you get. Some will charge refurbish fees, some wont, some wont accept the game and others just take them without a second glance.

What are the refurb fees on games?
There appears to be set prices for set value ranges. We aren't 100% certain on the splits just yet. Here is what we have currently:
$0.25-$2 Value: $0.75 Refurb Fee
$2.01-$4 Value: $1 Refurb Fee
$4.01-$7 Value: $2 Refurb Fee
$7.01-$10 Value: $3 Refurb Fee
$10.01 & Higher Value: $4 Refurb Fee

What are the refurb fees on consoles?
They are listed in the hardware TIV section, highlight in red.

I have a Collector's/Limited/Special edition of a game, do I have to trade-in all of the extras?
No, but there are a handful of games that their variations have separate listings at GameStop: Madden 09 Anniversary Edition, Battlefield: Bad Company Gold Edition, and a few others.

Why didn't the percent bonus go for my accessory for a system that was included?
Unless stated otherwise, and they are rarely included, the bonuses never apply to accessories. Except the PowerUp Rewards card of course.

I traded in a bunch of games for the "Trade X, get $X bonus" promo and it gave me the percentage bonus instead?
I can't give concretes on why this happens. GameStop computers are normally pretty good at giving you the better promo. In the case of a percentage bonus being run at the same time as a "Trade X, get $X" promo, things can get messy. The system appears to only give one promo on games per transaction so if you had a few games that you want to go to the percentage bonus and a stack for the "Trade X, Get $X" it will regularly apply the percentage to all of the games. Your best bet is to do all "Trade X, Get $X" games in one transaction on their own. The GameStop clerk may say that the system will figure it all out, tell them you want a separate transaction anyway. As always, check your receipt before you leave the store.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
YMMV. The official policy is no, but there are some GameStops that overlook that rule.

What all do I have to trade in for a console trade-in?
Xbox 360: Console Unit, power brick, A/V Cables, Controller (wired/wireless)
Wii: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cables, Wiimote, Nunchuck, Sensor Bar
Playstation 3: Console Unit, Power Cable, A/V Cable, Controller, USB Cable
PSP: Handheld, A/C Adapter
Nintendo DS/DSLite/DSi: Handheld, A/C Adapter, Stylus

Can I trade in a defective/broken console?
For the most part yes. If it powers on but doesn't play games, they will take the console as a refurb unit and put a refurb fee on the console. The refurb fee on the console will vary on the price of the console so those numbers will change. You are still required to trade in everything required listed in the question directly above.

What is the difference between PowerUp Rewards and PowerUp Rewards Pro?
The basic card is free and only allows you to acrew points when spending money. The Pro card costs $14.99 and is basically the same as the previous EDGE program.

How much does a PowerUp Rewards Pro subscription cost?
It costs $14.99 and is good for a year. It also comes with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine.

What bonuses come with having an PowerUp Rewards Pro card?
You will get an extra 10% trade-in credit on the base value of the game, extra 10% off the purchase of pre-owned games and 10% off new strategy guides.

Does the Power Up Rewards Card give me a bonus on hardware trade-ins?
No. You will only get the bonus for games and accessories.

What if I want cash instead of credit, what do they deduct?
If you decide that you want cash instead of credit, they will take 20% off the base values and promos will not apply.

Does promo "....." have a minimum trade-in value?
If the promo has a minimum trade-in value requirement, it will be listed in the promo. If it isn't there, then there is no limit. However, as with all trades, they are subject to manager approval so the manager could have setup his own little rule-set requiring a minimum of whatever.

I used a Power Trade promo for a pre-order, can I cancel that pre-order and get the credit or move it to another game I want?
Yes on both accounts. However, if you do a bunch of the power trades and just straight drop the pre-order you could create some ill-will between yourself and the employees you cancel on. However, if you look at the wordings on promos, they can remove the bonus trade-in value if they decide to.

I just tried to use a promo that has a select list of games eligible, but they say my game isn't eligible anymore, what gives?
Basically they have the right to change the eligible games at any time. They tend to update these frequently so as to lock out any easy/cheap games. It's best to check the eligible list the day of your trade.

Can I stack two different trade-in promos?
No. The only thing that will stack with trade-ins is your PowerUp Rewards card. Some will report success, but this requires a manual override and is very YMMV.

If I pay for an item using all credit on my card, do I have to pay sales tax?
This varies depending upon the state you live in.

If I buy a used copy of a game that requires an online pass for multiplayer, will it come with an online pass?
If you purchase a used title published by either Sony or WB you get an online pass from GS on your receipt. That's also why the used copies are $55 instead of $48 when the MSRP is $60. No GS issued passes of games published by EA, THQ, etc. On those titles you're totally dependent on the previous owner not using the code.

My state doesn't charge sales tax on purchases made by credit, why is gamestop.com charging me tax?
It is just the way they have designed their system. The best theory we have seen is that since you are only inputting the number off of the back of the card, it isn't going to pick up the programming from the specially tagged EDGE cards. Some kind of programming that gets input from their system that wont show up when only inputting the number off the back of the card.

100%. If I were you, I'd just trade in the PS4 toward a XB1 the next day if your state does not charge tax for trade credit. You'll get $400 if you trade in the PS4 toward an XB1 and get $2.50 for the headset that comes with it. Otherwise, returning it for a full refund is your best bet as you previously stated.

So could I trade an Xbox One and a PS3 Super Slim towards 1 PS4 and get the 50% on the Xbox One and the $150 for the PS3 towards the PS4?

I don't think the promos stack, so you'd have to do something like this:

Trade in X1 for ps4
Return ps4
Trade in ps3 for ps4, use store credit from x1 trade.
 
Unless you have extra credit to use why not just trade the system in to Best Buy and buy an Xbox One with their promotion?
Not all best buys take in trades. Mine does but I need a receipt to prove I bought it there. Never any problem trading in at gamestop no matter where you live...

I am in Texas.
According to the OP, Texas does not charge tax for using Gamestop credit. In this case, you would get $150 for the PS3. Assuming you have the left over credit to cover for the PS4, your best bet is to in fact open the PS4 and trade in the PS4 toward an Xbox One. That way you get the PUR points, which should amass to at least 10,000 points. That'll get you a tax free Xbox One, plus enough points to get you at least a $10 off any GS purchase.

If you do not have the rest to pay it off using credit, you're better still trading it in. And googleing the sales tax in Texas, using 6.25%, you stand to pay about $15.62 on the remaining $249.99 left over of the PS3 to PS4 trade (This assumes the PS3 is worth a flat $150). But returning the PS4 will also make $349.99 taxable of the Xbox One (if you get with a kinect), which is about $21.78 in taxes. Where as, if you just did the PS4 trade, you could save that difference of $6.16 in taxes and as well as get the boat load of PUR points to get those nice coupons.

Even if you get the kincetless Xbox One, you should still trade the PS4 to get the points. You'll get $397.50 ($265 base and 50%) plus the $2.50 for the headset you get with the PS4, a total of $400.

Gamestop's computer is always funny with this. You will get your money back.

Depending on credit or debit, they'll give you cash back. Sometimes (happens more often than not for me) they just put the ENTIRE amount you paid back on your credit card. Meaning, you get the original money spent and the $150.

mhmm. That's pretty good. It makes it easier for me to trade in more consoles, but not having to put a bunch of my money locked at gamestop.

That's another good idea. Assuming they will start doing preorders on it right away (I know with the Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle it took a couple weeks after it was announced). You'll still have to do separate transactions, but you could do the cheaper ones first then the big one and then cancel the preorder and move everything to a regular PS4 if you don't want to wait.

 
The white Destiny PS4 is already up for preorder on gamestop.com, so it's likely available in stores too.  I really don't want my Xbox One anymore and I already have a PS4.  Is it that difficult to cancel a preorder and just get the credit?  I'd rather get $397 from Gamestop than $322 from Amazon.

This is what I was thinking since I have a Slim 250gb and the old vita model to trade in, fingers crossed if the manager at my store can also hook me up with that $50 boost as well!

In my experience, it's easier to return an item than cancel a preorder. The guys at my store basically act like I'm killing their puppy when I try to cancel a preorder. I would trade in your PS4 and buy an XBox 1 without Kinect then just return it.

I traded in some stuff at GameStop and the employee lied to my faced saying that I would have to put down the full $39.99 down on a preorder for the smash bros 3ds preorder to get the 40% extra credit on my trade in.

I went through with the trade after I told him that I knew that he was lying. After I'm done with the local gamestop, I'm gonna go in there and cancel my preorder, hopefully it won't be much of a hassle but I doubt it...
 
Still trying to find out the best way to sell a PS3 250gb & a Xbox 250GB in for a PS4. (already have a Xbone) I have 2 local gamestops. I could trade one in at each store $150 each buy PS4 & return one & have it only cost me $100. If i return the PS4 the next day would i get $400 cash or $250 cash & $150 credit would also work, I just dont want $400 return in gamestop credit. I'm assuming something on the receipt will say $150 trade in promo. Looking to try something tomorrow. Suggestions? thanks.

Ooo. Well, this approach has the risk of getting back $250 cash and $150 store credit. If I were you, I'd just go to gamestop1 at opening time, get a ps4, go to gamestop2, refund the ps4, then return to gamestop1 near closing time and buy the ps4. Longer but still takes a day. That or just go back to gamestop1 right after you return the ps4 to gamestop2. The employees might be like "wtf you want another one?" But that's all.

So many systems promo that I'm now confused.
Anyone figure out what this offer is, and what the restrictions on it are? No details on the trade offers page regarding it.

This might be a lot better if I can use this to offload my Wii, then the 50% promo to trade in my current PS4 towards a Destiny bundle.

I'm thinking of trading say my ps3 at one store pre order white ps4 hope they give me the 150. Next day go to my main gamestop trade in 360 get 150 cancel white ps3 and then get 300.

They often say that you have to go back to the gamestop you preordered from to cancel it.

I'm a little confused, how will you cancel the original preorder? This post raises so much questions from me x_x

By $300, you mean the two $150 in store credit, right?
 
Yes but I think today I'm going to walk in with both systems and everything I have for them. If I have to guess I have at least 200 dollers worth other then the systems so I don't see how I don't walk out with a free ps4 possible free game. Even if they make me pre order a e3 game for five bucks to get then 40 percent extra. Last I was in I got quoted 90 bucks base for my ps3 last week.

Anyone know of if gamestop is now accepting the xb1 kinect separate now that a kinect less version is out? I know asking the tiv if applicable is probably unknown.
 
Btw trading in 2 consoles for the 100/150 ps4 promo and 50% would work. You trade xbox 360 or ps3 for 100/150 and put towards ps4. Next make a separate transaction to trade your xb1 or ps4 to trigger 50% and apply it to you 100/150 balance already on the ps4. Make 2 separate transactions to avoid stacking the 2 promos.

So will they actually give you 397 for the PS4? Was considering making the switch to the Xbox One (More friends on there) And this would make it a lot easier.
Yes, I've traded in a few PS4/XB1. $397 sounds about right unless they've tanked the value since yesterday?

Trade it with the 50% promotion? The Destiny Bundle should be available if not have a manager over ride it since the only criteria is for the credit be used on a new system.

 
Well going to roll with it after work hope they do it for me with my 360 and slim ps3 even if I get 150 for one and extra 50 percent for other would be fine.
