OMG im gonna get a free iPhone, i've got a couple questions

Ok, so this kid said that if I give him a broken psp he will let me have his old iPhone. I'm already on AT&T (Yay!) and I'm gonna disable EDGE cuz the extra data plan is a no-no. One of the big questions is, that do I have to upgrade it to a certain firmware before I jailbreak it? And after I jailbreak it how do I put apps on it/What is the method used to put apps on it.

For the last question, once it's jailbroken, you'll see an "installer" icon on the main screen. Hit that and it's basically a menu of all the junk you can install. Just find what you want and hit "install".
 
Hmm. I'm on t-mobile and we have EDGE too.. not sure if it's free for you guys but it's free for us.

Also, I got a free Blackberry curve w/ 1 year contract. Ended up making $50 profit when I sold my old phone. Not bad huh?
