Not me. The kids get next friday off but I have professional study day, which is pretty much sit around and try not to fall asleep as a bunch of teachers talk about shit that doesn't apply to me.
I don't get a day off until Thanksgiving.

I take classes during the week so two evenings are screwed and I do lesson plans and homework for my classes on Sunday so that day is screwed. I get one day off to play video games. One single day that I end up sleeping through because the week has exhausted me so much.
Teaching in not cushy even if I do get weekends off. Summer is nice even though I take classes.
Once this year is over my classes should be done with hopefully and that will help.

Here's a view into my world:
This is an email from a parent regarding the fact that her child did not receive a mint for stacking chairs after I explained that he did not come when called for a mint or come ask me for a mint. I also said he was probably more upset he got a poor grade on the test.

All because I didn't give her damn kid a mint.... That's 30 minutes back and forth I had to deal with that shit.

Teachers get put on this stupid pedastal and one little error or slip and it can be your career.

P.S. that kid is so manipulative and whiny. 3rd grader. I have 3 more years dealing with that mother.

It was intended as a commentary upon the fact that while most teachers get conference days and all sorts of school holidays (much like government workers there) as well as the summer (if they aren't teaching summer school) the rest of the adult world (save banks, now that I think of it), doesn't get a day off between Labor Day and Thanksgiving either. :)

No half days or anything on the agenda anytime soon, lulu? :|
