OnLive Microconsole $66 until Jan 9, 5.1 Audio coming soon. *LAST DAY*

I got mine yesterday, and I'm pretty impressed with what I've played. I chose Mafia II as my game, and it looks freakin amazing, I had it hooked up to my 65" LCD and the game runs at 30 FPS and looks just as crisp as when I run my PS3 games on the set. Granted the whole thing hinges on a good internet connection... I tried Metro 2033 on my computer the day before and the game lagged heavily on the first major enemy encounter, so I guess you gotta pray to the bandwidth overlords for a bountiful connection.

I don't know how I feel about the brag clips thing, its cool seeing all of these different games in progress while you're navigating through the menu, but I don't really know if I like, or understand the appeal of someone watching you play your games. And despite a couple funny game glitches, I haven't seen anything worthwhile while browsing the brag clips... it's mostly spoilers and t & a (would you be surprised if I told you that the top Mafia II brag clips are just shots of the various Playboy pics?)

I just tried the PC client and while I was impressed from a technical standpoint. It just was weird looking and the mouse just did not feel right. Note my internet connection is a 15mb fiber connection.
May I ask if you have the other consoles as well? I've been on the fence for a while also... but I have everything else (minus a gaming PC) and I'm trying to decide if it'd be worth it for me... bah! I have until Sunday.. =D
I have 360/ps3/wii + a gaming pc. Have tried Onlive on my pc and played a few game demos with an xbox controller - have to say I'm impressed. Mostly interested in getting OnLive to keep myself from buying SO many games -- really, I'm running out of hiding places (female gamer with a non-gaming husband who thinks I buy too many games). Really wish this had wi-fi built in. I was on the fence too, but the price cut with the $10 all you can play plan just makes it too sweet a deal to pass up for me.

Hadn't really checked out the brag clips but I actually like the Arena feature. I don't sit around for hours watching other people play, usually just check out a few games before I dive into one myself. I mostly check out deniable ops sessions for Splinter Cell Conviction - just interesting to see how some people play in comparison to my own style. Also, it's kinda cool to have a spectator throw you a cheer (not so much a jeer LOL).
Just a reminder: Today is the last day to get it at the discount price.

I just bought mine this morning. As a founding member, I felt like I had too to give this thing a chance. It could end up becoming something special and I actually enjoy the service.
Today is January 8, and it's not over until after the 9th right? I'm still in process of thinking whether to buy one or not. After all, I did tried the server and I'm impressed. The possibility is looking good for the future.

Anyone here who already bought MC, how is it and any difference from pc (such as colors, picture, etc.)? I would like to know if you have time.

You could be right...my bad. I was under the impression is until the 9th, but the website states through the 9th. In any case, I just wanted to update the thread to remind people the deal was ending. :)

Another reminder that today is the last day to get in on the deal. No, really. I swear it this time! Lol!

I don't blame anyone on the fence about Onlive. I don't play it as much as I would like, but I have to say that the service has gotten better over the months. There's been progress and the guys behind the service seem passionate about games and the service. I hate to say it, but this kind of service could become the norm in a few years and that's awesome. The quality is amazing, the controller support is flat out brilliant, and just the fact that I can play the same game on my PC or laptop on the road, only to come home and resume my save on my living room TV is fantastic. I urge everyone to try it out and give it a chance.

I'm in IT and I'm telling you that the industry (and this includes games) is moving to cloud based everything. Cloud based clients, cloud based servers, cloud based services, hell even cloud based OS's (Google Chrome OS). Gamers need to understand that this change is not only coming, it's here. Microsoft and Sony are already making a change to this type of service (games on demand) and we all know how piracy has affected the industry. This will make piracy either impossible or nearly impossible so they are jumping on board as well. End rant lol.

You hate to say it, but you think it's awesome. I'm confused.

Anyway, count me on the fence. At first, I was thinking, $66, oh well, why not. But if it's $10 shipping and $6 tax, it's $82, and that makes me think a bit more.

I don't want another subscription, even at $10/mo., and the games in the "pack" (the sub service) look a bit dated. Buy a game instead? $50 for Mafia II that was just $20 on 360/PS3?

The spectating actually sounded interesting - at least, unique, except for a few console MP implementations - but getting a random player perspective seems limiting. Can you switch players? Choose a player from a list that shows their stats? They could have innovated this by having non-player cameras that show the action from a more top-down or cinematic perspective, but I see no evidence of this.

A few hours left to talk myself into one, but not looking likely at this point.

Keep in kind vizio will have sub $100 bluray players with onlive built in. It is hard to justify knowing this.

Maybe im just not seeing this right, but you purchase the console and pay 10 a month for unlimited play? Yet when I go to the website and look at the games it has "play pass"es from 3 day to 5 day to full gameplay. Maybe its my skimming the thread but whats going on with it?

Depends on your needs. I for example, don't need a Blu-Ray player, I have a PS3. I'd much rather buy this tiny, power-sipping box for $66 then a larger box with more features I don't need for $100.

The PlayPack ($10 per month) is for a small subset of their games (list available here: http://www.onlive.com/playpack).

I think the attractiveness of the microconsole is the 'micro' part of it. You can really bring the controller (does the blu-ray player come with controller btw?) and this little box, and plug & play anywhere that has a good network connection.

I agree, however its good to keep in mind that in a few months you will be able to buy a Bluray player that does what this does and a few more things for about the same amount of cash. I agree that it depends on what you are looking for but its worth noting that this isn't the end-all be-all of deals for this and there is a good chance its going to drop in price permanently.

I doubt the BD players will come with a controller in box, it will probably be a separate device that you can link with them. By the way, does anyone know if you can hook up secondary wireless controllers to the Microconsole?
