Shopping at Target, I've gotten all the Holiday releases that I really want. Used the fluke Zelda raincheck on almost all of them. Windwaker was on sale for $16.88 but their system had its base price as $49.99 . . . so 67% off rainchecks (without a substitution policy on them) were printed.

Here is my breakdown:

GTA SA $16.88
Metroid 2 $16.88
Jak 3 $16.88
Ratchet 3 $16.88
Halo 2 LE $37.88 (with free guide)

$106 plus tax
Not bad for $235 retail . . .

Could've been a little better . . . I got rejected at one Target (Kenosha) on Halo 2 and didn't have time to try my other one (had to settle for 31% off -- would have been $20 less if 67% would've worked) Also, J3 and R3 would've been $13.33 if the clerks had done the percent off, but they just rang up the Zelda price. . . . so the total might've been $80

I sold a 50 cent Skies of Arcadia guide for over $50 on ebay, a $4 copy of Sims 2 DVD for over $40 . . . a few other things mean that I'm EVEN STEVEN.

Not part the blitz, but

I also got Paper Mario 2 for $16.50 (percent off?)

I used 44% off ones (FFX2 discount) to buy Donkey Konga and Pikmin 2 for $28 each, Sly 2 for $24 and an extra set of DK drums for $18 . . .

Alright, I might still try to get PoP2 on a raincheck, otherwise I'll wait for clearance on most other games.

Good for you. Free bump, since no one had posted in here. I wish I had some rainchecks. I've never used one before, because nobody goes to my Target, so they never run out of their sale games...

My targets always have the games on sale. Luckily I have been able to get one a few rare times, but they usually have the games on sale.
I gotta ask, how did you get the $4 Sims 2 DVD? I somehow missed that one.
Oops! I found it at my local Salvation Army for $3.99 sealed. My Goodwill has some at $19.99. But the $4 one brought in nearly $40 in profit!
yea...when was the zelda % off? and are there any other good possible rainchecks comin up?
about a month ago, i think.

sadly, both the Targets near my house have always flat-out denied me the raincheck sub-thing. its not worth arguing with them about it....

booo..

But hey schultzed, good for you!!! 8)

The Zelda one I used today was dated 10/11 (I went a few times and got 2 checks at a time . . . I might still have another somewhere . . . only good for one more week. Metroid came out right on time!

I don't know about other good rainchecks lately. You could get a quick $25 off if they are out of any of the Greatest Hits games pictured in the ad (they are $14.77 this week).

i had 6 zelda 67% Off raincheck all expire around the 28th

used one for Paper mario 2 one for Smackdown vs raw so got 4 left

I will either probally toss them or use a few

FF for the GBA i will use one one if they have it before it expires and maybe pick up some DS games for 13 bucks each?

hate to be such a noob but what is this whole raincheck thing about? I noticed at my target they had some rainchecks in the PS2 GH's section...

You can get a raincheck for an out-of-stock sale item. Target has a substitution policy which allows you to get an item of the same type for the same percentage off. So, you can get the same percent off on another game. The catch is that the substitution policy is not printed on rainchecks greater than 33% off . . . but clerks may ring up the discount anyway.
Wow, I didn't know they still worked even though the substitution clause wasn't printed on it. Wish I knew that earlier.
As I paid I would have two rainchecks in hand: one 67% to hand to the clerk, the other 30% with a sub clause to explain the discount. Both were folded in half . . . so I argued my case with the bottom half of a raincheck . . . 4 times out of 5 the clerk just rang up the discount.
You're my hero.
No . . . have pity on me. I have a disease . . . it has only gotten worse because of CAG.

Last summer really spoiled me . . . I sold a few of the games I bought for $5 (6 or 7 total) but the $150 I made covered the 25 I kept (I did some trades with those 25). Coming out EVEN on that set a new standard for cheapness in me.

So, this holiday's buying my goal was being EVEN . . . I try to game at no cost . . . I'm really sick.

I went to Target today and didn't even think about rainchecks (the first time in several months). I didn't see any good clearance games . . . so I left.

The downside with my raincheck operation was that it took a lot of work and attention. My Target is really poor about getting games out into the display . . . a few times I had to request workers go find games in back. Then I had to wait to get the games up front because the Zelda rc would have been DOA in electronics.

Nice work. The $4 Sims 2 DVD was a great find. The cheapest I've seen that is $35 at some used store. They also had Counter-Strike: Condition Zero for $11. That still retails for $39.99, so maybe I'll go get that tomorrow. I think I will. I'm also going to trade in a ton of games there that I can't get rid of (like old sports games). They offer a huge amount since they're short on XBox games. They offered a guy $10 in credit for PGR1 with the PH casing
