Opinions on Goozex?

Hey guys, I searched and didn't find a main goozex thread so hopefully this isn't breaking any rules. What are your guys' thoughts on goozex? I've used the amazon $75 console promotion and now I need to find some games on the cheap. The wife won't let me spend any more money on new games so I'd like to trade some of the games I don't play for games for my new psp. Is there a place to check and see what you can get for your games? For example, I don't play uncharted or motorstorm. Is it a fairly fast turnaround?

Basically what i'm wondering is if the site is worth using to trade games or should i just list them on ebay and buy games for the psp.

I just recently started using goozex. I have received about 10 games, 9 were in really good condition (the tenth was in horrible condition, but it worked)

if you go to the site and find the game you are interested in trading in/receiving and click trading info it will tell you how many people are offering to trade it, and how many are requesting it.

for uncharted, there are 31 copies available (19 or so complete) with no requests so it would be a wait.

Motorstorm pacific rift has none available, with 19 requests, so it would go right away . If you meant regular motorstorm, theres 70+ available so it wouldnt really go.

I personally like listing my games on goozex rather than ebay.

Cool, thanks for the response. It sounds like a pretty legit trading site. I signed up for swaptree but this seems a little bit better. So if you send a game worth 900 points, that means you can get 3 300 pt games right?

It means you have 900 points to spend at your discretion. Whether it's 1 900 point game or 9 100 point games, it's up to you. You choose what games to put in your request queue and whether to make then active or on hold.

I've been using it for almost a year and haven't had any problems. It beats trading in games at GS. The only down side is the waiting, but it pays to be patient.

you also need to buy Trading credits... you would need 3 trading tokens to get those 3 games...

so to do this trade you would need to

Send your game to get the 900 pts
BUY at least 3 Trade credits

then you would be able to grab 3 300 pt games.. If you have no trade credits you could have 100,000 pts and never get anything cause you have no trade credits

the handheld market is taking a massive hit these last few weeks due to the major drop on alot of games....

Ive been using it for awhile its a great place to trade games that you dont want any only 1 issue with the post office losing 1 game that had a tracking #

I've used it for over and year and have no gripes.

The only real downside is it takes a while to get new games--I just got Resident Evil 5 last week for example. Another downside is sometimes cases/discs aren't in great shape--so it's not for collectors who want there stuff in mint condition.

But I don't care about getting games around release, so I don't mind the wait, and I trade games after beating them so I don't care about condition. And most of the games I've gotten have been in great shape.

The only time I've had a problem was when I requested disc only for a game I wanted the full package on. Other than that it's great, and I'm always getting games in great shape that I don't have to pay more than a few dollars for.

I'm a heavy user of it and I would recommend it to anyone. Unless you wait up til 1am est the night before release, it WILL be a while before you get anything new, but if you're a CAG you probably have a massive backlog anyway. Most of the users 'get it' and you won't have many problems in general. *I* feel the point system is fair for sending and receiving and haven't bought any games at full price in a long long time thanks to goozex. My personal advice to anyone: Save and reuse bubble mailers and ship with paypal multi-order shipping at 7oz for any order.

Ten replies and nobody's used the word "scam" yet. I guess people are finally starting to get it.

Goozex is arguably the slowest of all your trade-in options, but it also gets you the best value for your used games.

I wouldn't recommend it to collector's, though. You can't be specific about condition, and there's no differentiation between first releases and GH/PH/PC releases. There seems to be a recent influx of collecting traders that have stormed into the forums wearing their nerd hats and exclaiming that they're entitled to such special treatments, but if it's there and it works, the seller has done their job.

I've used it a few times and had no bad experiences, I've given and even gotten new/sealed games. I trade on it for games that give me more points than I'm willing to sell for cash.

Good site and would highly recommend.

one other problem is if someone wanted to be placed first they could say they had a complete copy even though its a disc only...

So you spend the 1000 pts thinking your getting a complete game... game comes disc only

your #$#$#$##$ cause Goozex will NOT REFUND those points to you

game has to be busted to get the pts back

(just lost 200 pts this way)

True enough, but that's why I have PMed each seller since I joined Goozex in July '06 and have always gotten what I wanted. I've gotten some super-rare, complete games in mint condition from Goozex that would be a hundred or so dollars if bought on eBay or Amazon. Recent games from Goozex are Pokemon Box, Team Buddies, and Suikoden II (all mint and complete!). It also helped that I was waiting in-line for those games for more than a year and had enough available points at all times.

And SOME games do have special categories for GH separate from the original listing; it all depends on how their content-provider, MUZE, categorizes games. But, most often you don't have that option.

It's great for getting rid of worthless PS1 or DC games that I'd probably have to take a loss to get rid of on eBay, so I've been able to get Gears of War, All Pro Football 2K8, and Eternal Sonata for free from just trading those PS1 and DC games to those that want them and using the five free trade credits I got when I signed up.

I do hate that the Guitar Hero and Rock Band bundles on there have dumb people putting their game-only copies under those versions instead of the separate game-only entries for any of those games. Nobody that's watching any of those bundles will want anything less than the full bundles, which seem to rarely show up for trade.

Goozex: Meh.

Out of six request for games /with/ instruction manual and case, three of them were recieved WITHOUT instructions. Of those three very much incomplete copies, two came in Blockbuster cases. One of those had a Blockbuster sticker on the disk itself. I had to buy ANOTHER copy of that game.

So... in my opinion Goozex is a crap shoot. Your mileage may vary, and now someone will post about how they had flawless experiences with the service. However I feel like it's my duty to mention my terrible experience.

Duly noted.. of all my trades, only one or two went bad. Don't forget that you're dealing directly with other gamers and goozex is only acting as a liaison.. so as with all things in life, there is a risk involved, but I feel it's minimized when using goozex rather than other trading sites and even forums.

it has that. when u register a game it has 3 choices- !.full package, 2.no manual, 3.disc only. and, it gives u a free trade token when u sign up.

Now THIS I don't understand. The major issue with Goozex is that it randomly pairs you with someone who will supposedly provide you with the game. Unlike Ebay, or the trading forum, you don't have a chance to read the person's feedback /before/ the trade, and don't have an opportunity to AVOID them /before/ the trade takes place. This may have changed since I left Goozex. Has it?

Imagine you threw ten dollars at a random Ebay seller / trader for a copy of a game, and had to hope that you hit someone with good feed back.

The choices are Full package, Disc and Manual, and Disc only. They really do need a no manual option.

I've traded five games away so far, with my first game bought (Rogue Galaxy) on it's way now. I'll let you guys know how that pans out.

It's a decent place to get older games and try to get rid of your old ones while you wait for better trade options from places like this, CL, GTZ, etc.

I'd never use it for my "main" trade site. It seems impossible to get a newer game unless you request really early.

Still the same. You have a *small* window to see who you're trading with during the matched up/agreed to send/shipping confirmed process. If you really have a bad feeling about the transaction you can request a cancellation, otherwise wait it out. I don't have sigs turned on, but look at my goozex banner and see how many transactions I've done in the past 15 months and to be honest the only thing that went wrong was someone never sent me a copy of GTA IV and I was refunded my points within a day after filing it with the goozex team. So I will continue to use the site as my main trading hub. There's not much other sites will (can) do if someone decides to scam.. we can blacklist them here but you have zero compensation if that happens.

It's not impossible, it just tends to take 3-6 months. I don't mind the wait for the vast majority of games. I don't game that much anymore anyway so I usually have 1 or 2 games waiting to be played on the shelf anyway.

Something like Gears of War or another big game I'm dying to play I just by new. Everything else I'm fine waiting on and getting whenever.

But yeah, it does take a while so it's not for people who need the latest and greatest games right away.

Goozex is a great site. The community there is helpful and fun to talk to. I haven't had a bad experience yet and I've done about 35 trades so far. Saves so much money!

Wouldn't be so bad if eBay guaranteed either a satisfactory item or a full refund, which is what Goozex does.

All you'd lose is time, and as people have already mentioned, getting your OMGWTF games as soon as possible was never Goozex's strong suit, nor does it need to be.

So far I like it, but I too wish you could specify the condition of the case and disc. But as much as I hate getting GR/PH cases, I can still live with that.
