optical drive needs replacing

If you know how to replace one (it's not hard at all), then it'll cost you around $20-25 for a basic internal dvd burner, which is the better option in my opinion since it takes up less space. I'm not going to bother searching for the prices of any others because that is something you could do in seconds.

If it's a desktop PC, then it shouldn't be much of an issue to replace it with a new drive purchased from NewEgg.com or the like.

If it's a laptop or a slimline desktop PC, it'll take a bit more work and more of an expense, due to the size of the media drive.

If you post the brand and model # of your computer, it would help figure out what your options are.
